Scared to go to the gym

You are going to be so glad that you did. Especially over the summer when its too hot to go walking outside. Keep us informed on the progress you're making!

    How about some NSVs!?!?

I have left the size 20's in the dust and am now in the teens!!! I use to wear a 26 pant and now I'm wearing an 18w comfortably and a regular 18, but tight. I can run a full 2 miles without stopping in 26 minutes (my best so far). And, in church I can kneel without my butt touching the seat. Sometimes its the little things we never think about, but when they change we are so ecstatic! Surgery was the best decision I have ever made!

    Hair falling out

That does scare me! However, you're right, I wouldn't take back having my surgery for the world. I went from a 26 and am now in an 18w. I feel so awesome. I'm just happy to know it grows back! Thanks for your help.

    Antidepressants after surgery

I have bipolar and take an anti-depressant, anti-pyschotic, and an anti-convulsant. I've taken celexa for over 6 years and it's the only one that hasn't bothered me yet. I do think these meds keep me from losing as quickly as some others, but I need them!!! I would talk to your doctor and see if it truly is the lexapro that is bothering you. Remember, it's better to have a little physical pain, than mental (but just my opinion).

    Scale

I bought a Taylor "Biggest Loser" glass scale. It goes beyond 300lbs. Its been great so far. Had it a few years.

I haven't, but that does sound good. Hot air popcorn has only 30 calories a cup.

Scared to go to the gym

It is intimidating... all those big burly guys working out with the weights and those lil skinny minis on the treadmills. I understand. A long time ago when I was in college, I gained the freshman 15. I wanted the weight off but was scared to go to the university gym thinking that everyone would laugh at me, or think look at that fatty (if only I could weigh that right now). However, I read in a magazine that most people are worried about what they are doing with their workouts and feeling self conscious themselves. You walk in and do your thing! Most gyms have a trainer help you out the first time you're there to make you comfortable. I love the gym. I couldn't live without it now. Many people will respect the fact that you are there trying to make a difference instead of judging you!
  13. I think a lot of people who are losing weight without surgery could benefit from not drinking during meals!

    What foods made you dump?

I had dumping syndrome once. I had oatmeal with lactaid milk. It was the strangest thing, I didn't add sugar or anything. I had the cold sweats, heart racing, and was in the bathroom for awhile. I asked my doctor about it and they said that the oatmeal shouldn't have caused that at all, but I knew I never wanted to experience it again. I do know that if I do eat something with too much sugar I get terrible gas pains

weight loss at a stand still

WHOA! Not true! Exercise is definitely crucial. The more muscle mass you have the more calories you burn at rest. Also, it will help with tightening loose skin. So, definitely start an exercise regime. However, you're going to lose weight. You can't eat under a thousand calories and not lose. I'm stalled out big time. I feel like I'm not getting anywhere, but I'm being patient. Something has to happen!

Kristina...Thank you for saying a really nice thing. I'm not upset about what I have lost, I feel great. I just get frustrated with these stalls. I don't really feel like my dietician is helping, so I'm having to go outside to find someone else. It's difficult for me because with one of my medicines I have to eat 350 calories in order for it to be absorbed. So, I'm not sure how many I need to eat total. Am I eating too much? Not enough? I end up eating between 800-900. My dietician told me 650 max right now. Plus, I exercise pretty hard, burning anywhere from 500-700 calories. I know its not an exact science, but I wish it was!!! I'm not ungrateful for what i have lost, and would not change anything about having had my surgery done. I just wish I understood more.

I'm not sure what you mean by that? I have lost a total of 78lbs, but since my surgery I have only lost 47. I thought I would have lost a lot more. I'm following the doctors orders. Not sure what else I can do.
  18. "All my doctors say everything is great with me!" They can't argue with a doctor, because they don't have a medical degree. My friends and family are still all upset about how many calories I eat. They just can't wrap it around their heads that I have a much smaller stomach and I don't absorb as many calories. They don't understand because they haven't been through it themselves. I hope everyone will just let you be.

    Post Op March 2014

Its hard not to judge yourself anywhere!! I weigh myself every Monday, I'm 11 weeks post op, and have only lost 47.6 pounds since surgery. I really thought I would be much father after almost 3 months. I feel frustrated. I'm starting to wonder if my medications for my bipolar have anything to do with slowing me down. I was never looking for a quick fix, I just want to make sure I'm doing all the right things. Plus, I don't feel like 750 calories is enough for me. Seems like I'm hungry, even following all the protocols for eating. I'm drinking only water, not eating out, eating slowly and solid foods, exercising, I mean what more do I need to do??? I'm right there with you sparkling beauty!

I wish I could have cereal. I was told I shouldn't eat it
  21. Hi all. I'll just start off by saying that I have bipolar disorder. I was doing awesome for months, but recently I had a hypomanic episode which fell into bad depression. I stayed in my bed all weekend and basically stared at the wall or slept. So I saw my psychiatrist and he told me it was malabsorption. He said he's seen this with a lot of his patients who have gastric bypass. The particular medicine that I'm on, latuda, requires 350 calories for it to be absorbed into the body. I decided to have a larger meal in the middle of the day. Now, I need to find something that is 350 calories and healthy. I can't put a bunch of healthy things together because it would be too much to eat. Anyone have any ideas of some meals that I could have that would be healthy and 350 calories? Thanks!

    Need some ideas! Please!

I've been treating my bipolar for 7 years now. I've been on everything under the sun! That's why I had to have the bypass. I may have been 20lbs overweight, but until I started psychiatric drugs I gained soooo much weight. So, latuda is the only thing we have found that works. I talked to the dietician and she said to add a tablespoon of peanut butter! Won't be too filling and add 100 calories. I'll take it. Thanks for the help!

    Need some ideas! Please!

How about a Protein drink with some extras mixed in? Peanut Butter, etc. It'll be healthy and give you protein and should be over 350. Well, I thought about that. However, my surgeon doesn't want me drinking any Protein drinks, because they are not solid food. And, my psychiatrist told me it should be solid food. A Protein Drink would be so much easier though!
  24. I have bipolar disorder, and it's been under control for quite a few months now. However, I have been stalled out on my weightless for a couple of weeks and it's really starting to get to me. My dietician told me it was probably because of how hard I exercise, but for me, I should see results. When I go running everyday and workout really hard, my body should be cooperating. I just feel like I have done so much, and am seeing so little in return. Sorry if I am bringing anyone down. I just needed to vent this.
  25. I am having a lot of anxiety about making my pouch bigger. Besides carbonated drinks, what else can expand our pouches?
