    Post-Op regrets?

I had regrets right after when I was walking through the hospital and saw everyone eating their lunches. I wanted hospital food if you can believe that. The first 7-8 weeks are tough, no lie, because you are limited on what you can eat and how much. I would get terrible head hunger and just want to eat!! However, that all goes away and once you start to see yourself losing weight you begin to feel awesome and really want to work with the program. Doing the bypass was the best decision I ever made. I would do it over and over again. I have a friend who is considering bypass just because of the changes she has seen me make. Just remember that the bypass doesn't work alone. You have to follow the rules of eating given by your doctor and make sure to exercise and drink plenty of fluids. I say do it and make a positive change in your life!
  2. I'm 6 months out and can eat just about anything if I really want to. Thing is, I chose to try and eat as healthy as possible. Now, really fatty things and heavily sugary things will cause me to have pain in my stomach and diarrhea (sorry, telling it like it is), but that's just me. Everyone will react differently to different things. However, I would not change my decision to have surgery in a million years. I am so glad that I had the bypass. It's been a real blessing in my life.

    Carbonation?

Like Carolk36 said, my doctor told me that I would have to worry about pouch expansion. Before surgery I was addicted to Coke Zero, its all I drank. I stopped drinking it before surgery and haven't missed it since. I did have a small one not long ago, and all I did was burp. My nutritionist said that I could have some every so often, but I don't because Im afraid of becoming addicted again. However, I wouldn't think seltzer Water would be that big a deal every once in awhile. Give it a try.
  4. You're definitely going to stall. Your body has just been through a major transformation! Like another poster said, it needs a break. It has to get use to the idea of what you have done. I went through quite a few stalls, especially early on. I know its hard to stay faithful, but you will get through it! Good Luck!

    Help for stalls

I like MFP too. It does help to show me that I am progressing.

    Who is that?

I recognize myself because I had been up and down on my weight before, but what I can't get use to, is that I'm not 320lbs anymore. I still think that way. I feel embarrassed to talk to people because I still feel like I'm heavy. I have to remind myself I'm not that same person anymore. I don't want to take some classes at the gym because I think people will laugh at how huge I am, but this is not the case now. Still working on it
  9. That's wonderful! Keep up the amazing work!
  10. Anyone have gas pretty much all the time? This just started for me, I would say a couple of months ago (Im 21 weeks post op). It never fails, it seems like my digestive system just hates me now. I never use to have a problem and now, its getting annoying. Help?!

    Feelin Good

    Thanks
  12. Surgery 3/17. I lost 30lbs before surgery, so technically Ive lost 79lbs in 24 weeks. Total of 109lbs.
  13. I never use to like Starbucks, but I became hooked on the unsweetened iced coffee with skim milk. I love it, I love it, I love it!!!! The only thing I hate is that it does have some calories, but it gives me that extra jolt of energy I need.
  14. Mine would have to be running. What about yours? What do you like to do to get in shape?

    Question about gas...

I know! I hate it when I'm working out at the gym and i'm having to hold it in. It hurts! I guess its just part of what we have to live with

    Really Freaked Out

It depends on your doctor and what they say, but at 3 weeks you should be eating only mushy foods (like applesauce, mashed potatoes and eggs). I would drink only water at this point, but talk to your doctor. I just started a few weeks ago eating 1000-1200 calories and I'm 21 weeks out. I would say call your surgeon, maybe talk to the dietician. It will help you feel better.

  19. Anyone else going through a stall right now? I just can't get that stupid scale to move!

    I Hate Stalls!

You too?! That snacking is killing me right now. But, I do count it in my calories so I know I'm not going over by too much. Hopefully something will break our stalls!

    Stretched?

I use to feel the same way, but believe me it takes a heck of a lot more to stretch out your pouch or sleeve. I talked with my doctor about it and they said that snacking (eating upwards of 3000 calories), drinking calorie drinks all the time, or just plain going back to the way you were eating before you decided to get surgery, will cause you to gain. Mushy foods aren't going to do that at all!!! You may just be feeling some head hunger. I would wait 20 mins after eating and see how you feel. Good Luck!
