Slow weight loss
RavensAngel replied to MarieMarie's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
AWE hang in there I think it varies so much person to person we can't fit ourselves into a mold about it all. I've lost about 55-60 for the last three weeks i go from 315 to 310 randomly I weight myself daily its annoying. BUT my close are all falling and loose fitting and I see the inches and changes to my actual body. I'm shrinking in places I did not know would or could shrink lol Hang in there don't let it define you and try to walk more if you can. I know I'm working a bit more everyday for more steps I wear a step tracker and I've gone from average 400 before surgery to average of 1200 a day and some days over 2000 I do a lot more for myself now so it adds up quickly. -
I am on day 50 post op and about 55lbs down. I have been struggling with finding foods that I can eat and it was for a while causing me stress and confusion! My doctor is extrememly patient and reminded me that everyone is different and sometimes you have to extend yourself outside your comfort zone to make it work! I'm day by day shortly coming to terms with things and working through it. Yesterday, for my check in Doc walks in and says while handing me a CD is a video copy of your surgery! I thought WTH I had no idea he did that or how I would feel about it. When I got home I couldn't wait to turn it on and watch what happened. My family on the other hand couldn't watch it as easily or even at all. I have to admit there were a few times blood went gushing and I was mortified and the poking and pulling and sticking OMG that was hard to watch! NO WONDER you hurt afterwards! Seeing my crazy huge healthy liver was fun and you could see my heart pumping in the background. There was also some odd organ atop that I couldn't quite make out what that was I look forward to asking him about that. I also do not know why when he cut off my stomach he attached it to this fatty piece I don't get why he did that I will have to ask him next visit. Life Changing Push.... OH GOD when I feel like I'm going no where or I'm sad or down or food has me down I will have to watch that video it will be my inspiration! The camera was mostly focused on the upper part of my chest and my organs were surrounded by LOTS and LOTS of FAT it make me extremely sad that I had that much fat in my upper chest area. I was litterally smoothering my organs! How incredibly sad is that! It brought me to tears seeing that around my healthy organs trying to do what they are required to do slowly smoothering I'm sure until the point they would of just quit is horrific. I really needed to see that video! Last night I setup my lunchbox bento style for the day...I'm going to attempt to eat all my foods today and sip on Water and get up and walk! I have to get rid of that yucky nasty fat all around my BODY not just in my chest!

Oh NO that's awful. Is it just salad that's bad? Can you eat something else like cottage cheese? -

OH that's not too bad. Do you notice any consistency with what makes you ill? -

I am about 52 or 53 days out. I have lost 54lbs. This week I'm just feeling good about things. I was weak before not able to take my Vitamins, not able to eat without being sick, not able to move as much as I wanted too even. This week I'm moving well I graze and eat little bits of stuff at least every two hours or if I feel like I should eat. In small portions (I still can't tell when I'm full so I measure out a bit of food). I walk either out the house or if I don't get out on the treadmill. I'm up to about 2000 steps a day which prior to this I only reached if we were on vacation pushing myself. Now I reach it pretty easily. In the next two weeks I hope to be reaching 3000 steps. Because I'm a huge foodie and absolutely LOVE to cook this morning I made my GF a Breakfast fit for a queen and I only ate two mushrooms and one breakfast sausage and felt really good about cooking and that I didn't have to taste it all. I really believe its mind over matter when you address your challenges the rest falls into place. -
Life Changing Push

Nune I can sympathize! I finally gave up and now things work. I was stuck in a tunnel of I have to eat this or that and all the "rules". I think because everyone is SO different your really have to find what works for you. It was strange to me that most things that were "good" for me before surgery I can't handle now and all the "bad" things I could. My doctor was super supportive and thankfully I wasn't just a success number for him. Example: My NUT said ABSOLUTELY NO GRAZING! My DOC said if grazing helped me get things down then I should do it. My NUT said ABSOLUTELY NO CARBS! My DOC said if having a bit more carbs for now is okay if I can handle them. example of that if I eat a piece of roast beef sliced from deli alone I get so nauseated if I put it on a tortilla with cheese I can eat it no problem (who knows why) I also found an easy go to if all else fails I have cheerios. The biggest problem for me is I went into a frenzy because I couldn't eat anything. When I gave that up and just try different things and if they work I revisit them often if they are "bad" foods I have those in desperation only. It's frustrating when you feel like you are at a dead end. I was like OMG I will never be able to be normal again! I think I'm doing pretty good now I don't find it difficult to turn down "bad" foods even though they work better than "good" foods. I'm okay with that I didn't come all this way to screw up and I'm content with my progress so far. I wanted to loose a bit slower than most to help with my skin retention. It's a huge mind body game. You go through things that you didn't even realize you could go through or wanted to realize. Hang in there! You can find your way! -

I take a antacid pill and I have an extremely low dose IBS pill but it knocks me out! I notice though when I take it the nausea is not as alarming. Problem is if I took it every meal I would become a zombie! I may stick to easy swallow foods during day and thicker harder to digest foods when I can take my spasm pill. It's a real challenge!! Well that fatty piece I'm glad it is lending a hand to my stomach! -

Bittersweet I thought it was my pancreas!!! I became severely ill with constant pain on my left side. Everyone says nothing there to hurt SO I took up anatomy! Haha It was totally awesome seeing my organs that way and not on an X-ray! Do you know where they got the fatty tissue from? That part was really strange. I kept thinking why is he attaching my new stomach to a piece of junk! Haha I see the reason for it like you said the stomach is so much smaller now it just blows in the wind! I have/had really bad IBS prior to the surgery and when I eat now I get so nauseated. I can feel my stomach and organs moving like crazy I imagine that piece of tissue is making it a bit more tolerable though. That little stomach could be tossed like its on a fair ride otherwise! -

It is crazy cool to have on CD there are bunches of files I need to go figure out what they are! Sadly they were copied on Windows and we use Mac. So some of them I need to figure out how to covert them to something I can view. -
so my stomach still hates protein
RavensAngel replied to 10/6/14's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm about 50days post op now and I can't eat any of the Protein shakes they make me so sick and its such a horrid feeling! unjury makes me nauseated and gives me diarrhea so bad that I just don't use it. I was prior to surgery eating protein packaged items like Soup, drinks, etc and I've tried one here and there and OMG so sick! I have tried bunches of different foods at this point it's incredibly tasking. Thankfully my doctor though he thinks I am an anomoly is patient and understanding. I tried roast beef slices and it made be nauseated. We were making Snacks and such to go to the park. So I was took some of the roast beef and rolled it in a tortilla with cheese and sour cream and we baked them in foil rolls. When cooled to take to park. I ate a few bites and it was totally fine! I tried baked and or slow cooked meat of all kinds and yep nauseated. I can however eat chicken nuggets and fries no problem. I can even eat cake. I have also been able to eat bread. Granted all the above in very limited quanities. What I have discovered is that apparently no one can be put into a mold and the answer be apparent. I think I have an affliction for the prepared high protein items now I'm not surprised as I'm not real big on processed before surgery. The unhealthy things I was able to eat my doctor thinks its the oil perhaps that is coating it that helps it all go down. Thankfully I'm pretty responsible so beyond having an absolutely incredible fustrating day I opt for something on the no no list. Otherwise I discovered couscous works amazing! It's soft and goes down very easily. Cottage cheese is also working pretty good. I have been drinking bean soup and eating hummus and bean chips. I also discovered pistachios they are softer and do well. I was and have been very discouraged about not being able to eat the Protein Drinks and I've tried almost all kinds it seems the lower in sugar the worse my nausea. I have surrendered to them and have opted to try and find the protein elsewhere. When nothing will work my best friend is cheerios and high protein milk! My doctor thought that was increidble! I hope that helps a bit? I know when I discovered those expensive bottles of protein I bought weren't going to work I all but sat in the corner and cried. It's hard times! At sixteen days what about cottage cheese? or mashed potatos I ate alot of until I reached near 3weeks. -

RavensAngel replied to auntjanny's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums

September Sleevers....whatcha eat in' now?

I am about 45 days out and I am a complete anomaly to my doctor! I am having difficulty getting in enough Protein daily as I can't eat most of the things I should be able too. It's awkward and frustrating. Anything with a protein additive makes me super sick BLAH and everything "good" gives me issues while everything bad is easy. I feel like I'm carrying an entire community uphill ...In a snow storm! -
I am now about 30 days post op and I had one bad week where I just felt like life would crumble if I couldn't eat. Its a mind thing I love to cook and I am into "real" food not boxed or pre made of packaged and try to avoid anything processed all together. I have lost about 45pounds at this point from my highest weight and most of which was lost in the last two months. I'm having a bunch of difficulties with food I'm not sure when I am full I try many different things and I get awkward reactions to all kinds of stuff. Its almost like a huge puzzle I can't piece together because if I get it wrong its likely I will hurl. Thank Goodness hurling isn't violent now as it was before surgery or I'd be afraid my stomach would fly out. I don't nearly get enough Protein in and Water. I do try to sip on water all day but sometimes it causes cramping or upset tummy. Mind you I have had morning sickness all my life I think that still plays a huge factor these days. Right now I'm able to hold down cheerios and milk. There is also a bolt Protein shake the entire bottle gives you 30grams of protein and is coffee flavored. I can sip on that most of the day sometimes it causes my tummy to get angry. I tried adding some unjury to it and couldn't get out the bathroom for nothing. I tried to go back to my pre - op shakes and they just don't hang out very well either. They end up being wasted because I can't finish them. I had to reschedule my follow up for this coming week and I will definitely be asking him all kinds of questions. I'm thinking about going back to juicing to make sure I get enough protein and Vitamins in I know that method is sure to get me at least that. I'm not sure how my stomach will behave though. Anyone who's not into processed foods or vegetarian have a method that is working for them? I'm not completely vegetarian but I try to lean more that route than meat. Meat seems to have a negative affect on my stomach (IBS) reactions. I eat it if I have too but try to avoid the cramping. Otherwise I'm doing well I get out shower and have noticed my body changing in extreme. Things (skin) is getting loose quickly. I find it intriguing that when I did a juicing fast and vegetarian for 100 days I lost about 40lbs and it was clearly from a different location. Anyone know why the sleeve methods forces your arms to waddle? back drag? and all those other loose areas I have going on?

Post Op Food Discouraged
RavensAngel replied to RavensAngel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My beef soup / stew with veggies cooked all the way down everything broke up into almost an unrecognizable state. I had some about 8 hours ago I'd say about 3-4oz chewed really really well and its still there stuck in my throat and my tummy is angry about it. (it was delicious though) I think that is convinced me I should just stay away from meat a bit longer for sure. I think I'll try to make things with crab meat that I can eat or eat salmon or something like that. I did find some Protein boosting grains today to add to my cheerios so that will bring one cup to about 25grams of protein that's super helpful in my challenge to increase Proteins. I suppose its like I was just born and I have to go out and find new foods....haha -

Post Op Food Discouraged
RavensAngel replied to RavensAngel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just to advise I have followed the doctors/nutritionist diet for almost a year and Protein shakes for over two months. I think that's the problem I should of kept up my non processed diet up until surgery then I would of had packages for a shorter period. It just doesn't jive with my tummy. ;( I am working on making a hearty beef and vegetable Soup in the ninja maybe tomorrow when it's cooked I can tolerate a bit of that. If not back to the Cheerios! Haha I did find some milk tonight at the store with added protein. We were noticing that almost everything these days says xx protein on the label kind of cool!!! That will make each little cup of Cheerios I eat 12-15 grams of protein. Better than 0 I am sure. -
Post Op Food Discouraged
RavensAngel replied to RavensAngel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
RJ'S/beginning seems like its difficult to find people whom are more on the natural side of things that have had surgery ;( VSGAnn2014 eggs were my favorite I can't eat them fixed in any method right now they all make me hurl sadly. Juicing can depending on what you use have sugar in it however it would be natural sugar not to mention fruits and veggies repair your body in many ways that Protein does not. That's the one thing since starting this journey. My nutritionist she was such an odd one I would explain that I eat more veggies than I do meat because meat hurts my stomach more than it helps. Not to mention some veggies and seafood in fact have more Proteins than meat. Pretty much you don't need meat to survive many people live just fine and healthy without meat. She used to get so angry with me for wanting to eat veggies. I never liked that at all she would encourage me to eat packaged processed foods. Sad Face Packaged processed foods is what got me to fat to begin with....sick and fat. Bleh! I have noticed also that things that are dry are harder or do not work where as things that are soft and moist seem to work really well. Maybe I'm just transitioning still and will have to wait to eat more types of food. It just gets mundane without a variety. -
I did not I wasn't sure there was one I have not seen it as of yet thanks!
-
I'm 30days post op and prefer non processed foods or packaged foods. I do eat meat but I do not tolerate it well so I typically op for a vegetarian type diet in most cases or lots of seafood. I'd love to find someone who eats similar and currently successful with their sleeve.

I was sleeved on 9 - 4 also when I was able to become concious of my body again the first thing I was able to identify was my shouder blade area. Good GOSH did it hurt. It felt like someone had shot an arrow in it and left it there. It worked out but I found it difficult to try to walk so medicated. I should of had a plan.

Post Op Questions - War of the Stomach!
RavensAngel posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm nine days post op and on the smushed diet I've been eating cream Soups, broth, shakes, pudding, and the sorts. I tried some mashed potatoes today and I have tried soft eggs. Anything I eat and not drink starts my espohgus to moving and then my stomach and its like its not going anywhere but the moving is crazy busy. Then I have to pause a while I can't even finish my food and wait. Before long I start burping and then it seems to move just as fast but its not stuck. I am curious does this type of behaviors pass? I previous to operation had a severe issue where unlike the normal person I could feel my food being pushed and rushed through all the routes it goes through and a case of IBS. It was horrid then but at least the food went down. Now its sort of like my espohgus and stomach is fighting the food. War of the Stomach! It is kind of creepy. Does my stomach need to learn to eat again? What's the skinny?
