Mine was about 2 hours and 45 min too, but that also included talking with nurse practisioner about all my medical history and weight loss history and my before body measurements and weight. All before I talked with Phys. Yes, a lot of hoops, still need my Pulmonary, Cardiologist, and EDG and 3 life skill classes and 2 more nutrition classes. August will be a lot of appointments.LOL

I had mine already, it was pretty simple. I had to fill out questionnaire (maybe 25 questions max) . Then we just talk about the types of surgery's and the sleeve option I had chosen. They go over the depression questions and how you feel in public being overweight. What was the main reasons for doing weight loss surgery vs my other attempt to lose the weight. You will be fine, just answer questions confidently and honestly.

Is anyone months out from surgery?
dtiller1147 replied to kheartskat's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the 6 months doctor monitored nutrition class as a requirement of my insurance BCBS of Delaware/Highmark. However, the surgery center is a Center of Excellence so that agree with that approach. I am OK with the process it gives you plenty of time to prepare and research before you make this major decision. Plus the more weight I loose and get stronger before surgery the better for me. I wish you the very best of luck on your journey. Make sure you are confident in your surgon and the center, they are your "go to" team when you need somthing. -
Is anyone months out from surgery?
dtiller1147 replied to kheartskat's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

dtiller1147 replied to butterflybefree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats Butterfly, I think most folks worry a lot about the eval but just be honest and it seemed pretty easy for me too. Looks like you will be me to the finish line. I do think I moved up a week or too. So hopefully mid-October for me. -
Dreaming_again, congratulation you were successful in adding me as a friend. So tell your kids "take that" I am Certified Geek in training! Let me know how you are making it through the process.

I have an Update on my progress; I had a team meeting yesterday with NP & had my Phys eval. I think it went very well, I guess I am NOT crazy for wanting theis surgery. They set my Medical Clearence appointment to be September 10th to go over all my workups. August will be one busy Month for me looks like.

Welcome aboard dmurphy, do you have an anticipated surgery date? I think I am a little ahead of my original schedule so maybe the middle of October instead of the end. I will know better after my medical clearance which is set for September 10th.

Thanks for the replies Dreamin_again & Proudgrammy. Dreamin_again we should be close on our surgery dates. You will have keep me informed on your progress. Proudgammy, I have done my researech and this is the right choice for me unless something comes out of the medical work-up later that may require a change. I do not see that as likely. I overheard one nurse tell the other refering to me " you will like him he is very organized and knows what he wants" yesterday. Sorry but I guess that is the engineer in me. All things important requires a plan, and even complicated things when broken down in steps are made easy. So whats a little time and effort to get our just end results!

Surgical Journey Starts Today
dtiller1147 replied to dtiller1147's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well, I thought I would up date my Journey. I have had 3 of my 6 required Nutrition class. I will be meeting my Nurse Pract. and doing my Phsy eval on 6/12/14. They made my appointments in August for 3 life skill classes that I and someone from my support team (sorry Kim, my wife) must attend but she is a good egg and she had RNY 4 years ago so not to sure what they can teach her. So I guess all things are starting to fall in place. I hope all of your journeys are still moving forward. -
Hello: I had my surgical consult today, and The Doctor agrees that VSG is the right option for me! This means if all falls together I may be having surgery arround Holloween 2014!! BTW, I am from Dover Delaware.

Sleep Study question
dtiller1147 replied to knitlil09's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
CPAP Treatment is a Doctor prescribed treatment, you have to be monitored by the Doctor not the tech. There are two types of Apnea ,Obstructive and Central and only Obstructive can improve or go in remission by weight loss. It is a serious condition, that can cause heart attack or strokes etc. You are depriving your brain from O2. Please follow up with your team and get the equipment you need at least for now. You usually rent the equipment at first anyway. I have been on CPAP 15 years and now on my third machine, it saved my life. -
Anyone Just Starting the journey?
dtiller1147 replied to Mz. Nika's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Musicmomma, you can go to a free seminar offered by the surgeon you have selected. Make sure they are in network for your insurance and can perform the type of surgery you want. Not all types of surgery will available by your insurance. At this seminar they will be able to guide through the process. You may have to do 6 moths of supervised diet and nutrition so that is based on your insurance or the surgeon. -
Altered Medical Procedures Post-Op
dtiller1147 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello: I would like to find a list of medical procedures a-head of time that I should caution medical Doctors with. For example I know no blind NG tubes, but how about colonoscopy were prep causes you to have to drink a lot of stuff to clean you out before procedure. So that not going to work very well. What about barium swallow is that ok? Different contrast? Please some of you Po-Ops help a newbie out and let me know what other medical procedures may need to be altered in advance. -
Hello: Yes, my surgeon said I should be around Halloween time frame. I am 2 months into 6 month diet and nutrition with doctor oversight. So our time frame is about the same.
