Well sounds like you did a great diagnostic of your program and Identified at least two common issues. You need to get back on track right away before you spiral down and start to regain. Search 5 day pouch test, this method should stop the cravings for the carbs. Make sure you always have a good Protein snack with you for that long commute. The "not exercising to tired" is a vicious cycle, exercise is what helps us mentally to reset and also builds the energy back. Start small with just walking. You have done this before, and you are important enough to do it again.Try to be more active on the website or go to local Support Group if you can. Do not allow your hard work so far to go to waste. The further you get out the harder it is to stay on program so start TODAY!! Try to be more active on the website or go to local Support Group if you can.

Check out CHRIAS.... Anyone can go to support group there. http://www.chrias.com/patient-resources/support-groups/ Good Luck!
  3. No complications or problems for me at all. I say surgery and recovery was textbook. I knew I had surgery but never got nausea and I have never threw up at all still today. I stop pain meds early after I got home. I was slow getting in the Water and Protein goal for the first week. I work harder on water than food. It is amazing how little food you can get in in the beginning but it will become more normal after all the swelling is gone. Well our new normal anyway.
  4. I went with VSG, I would be concerned with the malobsorption complications and the going to the bathroom 4-5 times a day. It seems like your BMI is not that high, most over 50 opt for single or double DS. I am sure you did your research and your team has come up with the best solution for you. That is what matters the most. Goos luck with what ever you decide.

    Sweet tooth

1 week out you need to make sure you are getting your protein in and at least 64 oz of water. This is probably head hunger but it sure can be a problem. Good Luck.

    Migraine

Djmohr, Ketorlac is a NSAID is your surgon OK with its use? Maybe because it is an injectable it is easyer on us than NSAID in pill form? Any input on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for your post.

    Migraine

My wife is on Botox treatment, you have to rule out a lot of other meds first. You also have to have like 15 within a month (cronic). They are several shots at one time and its about every 6 weeks. It helps but it does not cure. After about 4 weeks they start coming back on a regualr bases but have to wait until 6 weeks is up before you get your shots again. They are expensive so you need good insurence. I too want to research the DHE med to see if she is a candidate for that med. Thanks for the tip.

    No More CPAP?

I am 20 mth out from surgery and 182# down from my highest weight ever. I have been on CPAP for 15 years. They had to put me on Auto Pap to reduce the amount of air but still require therapy. I also have RLS, tuff with to sleep disorders, but please make the decision based on data and your doc advice. This is one call you want to get right.

    2+ years post-op... weight gain?

Hello, our stats are close. I am 20 months out right now and I am only losing a pound a month after my initial weight loss the first year. Last month was 2 # but I had to step up my intensity and duration on my work outs and be even more disciplined on my meal plan. It’s like our metabolism has reset to our new smaller version. If we do not stay on top of our game (do not get complacent) and increase our intensity the statistic indicate that we will gain around 10% or more back.
  13. My highest weight ever was 423#, started down surgery route at 360# now down to 240# (19 months out) and my height is 5"6" so am close but I was bigger and shorter. It may be one of the best decisions you ever make because as good as the weight numbers are its really about how much your Health will improve that is important. For me at least. I went down from 12 Rx a day to 3 and there is a chance 2 more can go away. One will always be with me. Best of luck!

    Can't use CPAP after surgery

Do not mess with your pressure settings. They are set to stop the apnea's for you. You need to get a chin strap. Your medical supplier may be able to get you one, but your doc may have to provide a Rx. for it. You can tie a bandanna or scarf around your head and chin for now. If this does not work, you will need to get fitted for a full face piece (covers both nose and mouth). Do not mess with your pressure settings. They are set to stop the apnea's for you.
