Upstate New York Pre/Ops?
AngryViking replied to Trudycarle's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
It's funny; I had my surgery date before almost anything else. I went to Dr. Graber's group seminar back in April and they scheduled the surgery that same week. The office scheduled all of my other stuff, too; psych eval, nuttritionist visit, etc. I didn't even get my insurance auth until this past weekend. LOL Crazy. -
Upstate New York Pre/Ops?
AngryViking replied to Trudycarle's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Well, I'm in Syracuse and scheduled for RNY on the 17th of this month. What exactly are you looking for? -
JULY 2014 Post Op Rny / Bypass Support Group
AngryViking replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I just got my insurance approval letter this weekend. With all the running around and doctor appointments and research into every aspect of what I'm getting myself into (and many hours perusing on BP ) I had completely forgotten I didn't have an actual authorization from my insurance. LMAO Well, now I'm officially Empire Plan approved. Bring on the 17th! -

AngryViking replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
It's July! Yay for all of us!! So, I was reading over my paperwork and it says "remove all jewelry" before admission. Ummm...I haven't been able to get my wedding set off in like 7 years. Any ideas? LOL! -
Vitamins on pre-op diet? Uggh...
AngryViking replied to livingmore's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not done this but I probably should. My current multi makes me queasy if I don't take it with food, so I better start shopping around. -
JULY 2014 Post Op Rny / Bypass Support Group
AngryViking replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Nope. The nutritionist didn't even particularly encourage the shakes, saying only that we "can" start them when we get home from the hospital, but it's not a necessity. I already got some samples from Chike and unjury so I'm going to use them for sure, but I found it strange after reading this site for the past month. lol -

One more visit checked off: I saw the nutritionist today. It was more like a class (there were 7 of us in there) and we went over Vitamin requirements and diet. After reading everyone's diets, Protein and calorie requirements, etc. on here I have to say my doctor's plan seems kind of fast and loose. lol The nutritionist was mostly concerned with Fluid intake and not so much with the protein. -
I find it hard to believe that you can't appeal. What does your denial letter say?

I just want to add that I can see these conference tables from my desk. Since the most recent birthday feast was Friday, there are still bags of chips and Cookies and candy out there. Save me. lol
-
My office throws big potluck parties for every birthday. Every. Single. Birthday. There are 40 people here, which means two conference tabels loaded with all kinds of crap food at least once a week. It's a disaster.

Telling my PCP
AngryViking replied to Natasha Estrada's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My insurance requires that my PCP give his sign-off to the surgeon. So even though I had a complete physical in April, and I told him all about it when I was there, I have to go again a week before the procedure for the "pre-surgical clearance". -
Nooooo pre op diet her e
AngryViking replied to tammie30's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc just says clear liquids for 3 days prior to the surgery. I find it funny how different every doctor's plan of care is. -

OK, I just finished my pre-op testing! Squeee!! The nurse said I had "perfect" blood pressure. LOL Yes, that and crappy knees, a dodgy hip, swollen feet/ankles, high cholesterol, heat rash everywhere, etc., etc., etc. I just have the nutritionist tomorrow and a last once over with my PCP and then it's on to the OR. Feeling excited and nervous and just plain ready to get this show on the road. -

My 8 year old son has actually been the most encouraging family member. Prior to my considering bariatric surgery, he never once said anything to me about how big I am. I was just (and still am) his loving and nurturing mama. But since I shared with him what is going to happen, he has become very aware of the changes I want to make and says the most wonderful things. I was watching So You Think You Can Dance last week (my guilty pleasure) and he asked me if I liked dancing. I said that I did and that I wished I could learn. He said, "Maybe after you have your surgery you could take a dance class. I can go with you if you want". <3 He is the light of my life and the reason I am on this path.

Do you hope to get smaller than your goal? Why or why not?
AngryViking replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hmmm, I don't know. In my early thirties I was a 10/12 in most brands (Gap, ON, Eddie Bauer, Levi's) and I thought that was pretty skinny for me. Of course I wasn't able to maintain that weight so who knows what this round with RNY will bring for me. I'd like to be fit and strong and if that means a size 6, then I'll be just fine with that! -
I work in the patient accounting department of a hospital and I can tell you it takes more time for the correspondence to reach the facility than it does to get to the patient. Once we get it, then it has to be scanned and loaded into the system. If you just received verbal auth today, then I would allow another 1-2 weeks for the hospital to catch up.

Your Big Goal Celebration
AngryViking replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'd like to take a nice family photo. On the beach in Cabo. Seriously, though. My husband and I honeymooned in Cabo 10 years ago and it was spectacular. I'd like to go again and take my son along with us this time. -

Yay for you! I'm scheduled for July 17. I'm super psyched. I had my psych consult yesterday and next up is the pre-op testing and nutritionist visit on the 24th. Squee! -
I saw this at Target the other day! They had both the plain and chocolate kind. I think I'll pick some up the next time I go.
