Did people treat you differently after weight loss?
AngryViking replied to B_Darkly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This. Right here. All day. -
An Arby's Jr. Roast Beef is 210 cals and 13 gms of Protein.

I got myself a short and sassy bob around the 6 month mark and I never looked back. I LOVE me with short hair. LOL I'd had long hair since forever (donated to Pantene Beautiful Lengths 3 times) but it was falling out in handfuls and looked dreadful. I decided "eff it" and told my stylist to cut it short. She asked me like 3 times "are you sure?". LOL I think being more comfortable with myself and my appearance had a lot to do with my deciding to take the plunge.

What is your TRUE weight loss goal?
AngryViking replied to LipstickLady's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Let's see... I initially started this whole process because I was physically miserable; bad knees, bad back, dodgy hip, etc. Everything was a struggle, from putting my socks on, to just walking around the mall. I could see the future at the rate I was going and it wasn't pretty. I also wanted to be able to be around for my son. At just over 9 months out, my focus has shifted, and now at just under 40 lbs from my goal weight, my actual goal is vanity based. Is that terrible? LOL I want to wear cute heels and skinny jeans. I want to rock a two piece at the beach and feel badass doing it. I don't know where the number on the scale will settle, but I know how I want to feel (and look) so that's my goal. -
I didn't bring much to the hospital; some magazines, my Kindle and chapstick were all I really used. Oh, and a change of underwear because they let me shower on day 2 and it was glorious. I wore the hospital gown and super cool slipper socks.
-
Yes, I went through my insurance. The whole process was super easy and his office pretty much handled everything; they just told me where to be and when. LOL They were very familiar with my insurance carrier's requirements and were so certain of approval that I had my surgery date well before they even requested the auth. You are going to LOVE it on the other side.

I used William Graber at St Josephs; he was great. Your date is getting pretty close, huh?

Good morning AngryViking! Love the name! Haha. Where are you at in your WL journey? I'm just over 9 months post-op RNY and down 125 lbs. 41 to go!

I'm in Syracuse.

I'm cheap, so although I love to look at the Sephora or whatever, most everything is a drugstore purchase. I am a big fan of Maybelline Baby Lips; there are so many shades and they all smell good! My favorite is Grape Vine; it's like a $3 version of Clinique's Black Honey Almost Lipstick. Which I also have. LOL I have a ton of Revlon Top Speed and Sally Hansen Insta Dry nail polishes; I paint my nails like every other day and these are great. Garnier Ultra Lift Transformer is the bomb moisturizer/sunscreen. Cover Girl Clump Crusher > Maybelline Great Lash bareMinerals powder foundation. All day. And I never go anywhere without spraying on some Thierry Mugler Angel. It's my signature scent. LOL Has anyone tried any of the e.l.f. products? They sell them everywhere and they're super cheap but I haven't bought anything. Yet.

I hate it. HATE IT. I am 100% having plastics when I'm at goal. That being said, even though my husband is supportive of my choice to have the works done, he doesn't mind the "current state of affairs".

My husband and I keep bees on our property. We were so successful last year with our honey production and sales that this year we are expanding from 3 hives to 10. We intend to eventually make this a full time business.

I love Dollar Tree! I can find the single serve Pict Sweet frozen edamame in most of the stores around me. Those are great to keep in the freezer at work for a quick snack or lunch add-on. I also get smoked oysters, pork rinds, turkey pepperoni, single serve peanut pouches and canned Soups and chili. They get new stuff all the time, so I go a few times a week just to see if there's anything new.
-
I love netrition! I buy the Fiber Gourmet crackers (in wheat, everything and chili cheese) and Quest bars from them. Oh, and Click Mocha. You can't beat the flat shipping rate.
-
I drink two cups of the high test every day; one with milk and one with half & half. Sometimes I drink a Click Mocha instead, because it's delicious.

Did your shoe size change after weight loss surgery?
AngryViking replied to Okiebon's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Not me. They may be a little narrower, but they were Fred Flintstone-esque to begin with so... -
I wish I knew how to quit you, (fill in the blank)!
AngryViking replied to JustWatchMe's topic in Rants & Raves
Half & half. It's like 100 calories of my daily allowance but I can't do my coffee without it. -
I think it's more about food intake than lack of exercise. This is coming from my experience with my 9, almost 10 year old son who is around 100lbs. He plays basketball right now 3 days a week, but it's the Snacks that are his downfall. I've had to restrict them and sometimes flat out tell him no when he asks. If your son is sneaking food, remove those things that are enticing to him. My son is now getting stuff like apples, cheese sticks, grape tomatoes, carrots, etc. Cheese Nips (his fave) are a sometime snack. I am trying to teach him that an hour before dinner is not the right time to snack and that he can wait. It's hard. Really hard. I'm trying to model healthier habits as I'm sure you are as well. I was the fat kid/teenager/adult and that is not a road I want him to travel. Good luck!!

The main thing I find myself still doing is before sitting down in a booth I still eyeball it quickly and decide which side is bigger. HA! I do this, too. I've gotten really good at it over the years.

Why You Lose Hair After Surgery
AngryViking replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My hair started falling out in handfuls at around 4 months out. Washing my hair was a miserable experience and I was feeling pretty awful about myself. I grew weary of trying to hold onto my long hair that looked so terrible and I cut it short a couple of weeks ago. It was a real confidence booster! -

Have to Share for Those Frustrated with Stall
AngryViking replied to Susanjoyce392's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I just broke a 4 week + stall. I hadn't lost anything since 12/3 and then this morning BAM! 7 lbs. down. I could tell during that month that I was losing inches because of how my clothes fit, but it's still frustrating when that scale refuses to budge. So, I'll join the chorus here of recommending that you continue to work your program! -
What do you order if you go out for Chinese ?

I usually go with egg drop/won ton Soup and some steamed edamame.
