Just wondering if anyone has had gastric sleeve done by Dr. Robbins. Thanks!

You look fabulous!! I am just starting on this journey and it's people like you that give me inspiration!! Susan

Good for you - 14 lbs gone is fabulous! I bet you do feel SO much better without the drain. How long do you stay on pureed foods? Hope they agree with your tummy! When do you go back to Dr. Marker? Susan

Hi Jordana! I am not a military wife, but welcome to the Ft. Rucker area!! Get ready for a HOT summer. LOL The really great thing is that you'll only be a couple of hours away from the beach! Susan

6 mo doctor approved diet
Kookster replied to Kookster's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the responses and info. My doctor told me to follow the 1800 calorie diabetic diet and I'd lose. And she also said to walk, walk, walk! I was just wondering what others were doing as I know my surgeon requires an 8% to 10% weight loss before surgery. I'm off to check out my fitness pal! Susan -
Hi all! I am just beginning the gastric sleeve journey and starting my 6 mo diet. My PCP recommended a diabetic diet but I'm wondering if it has too many carbs. Do you mind sharing what diet you did during your 3/6 month wait? Thanks! Susan

Hi Hunner!! I go tomorrow for my initial visit and am SO ready to start this journey. Thanks for the info about Dr. Marker. There's another "sleever" on the board that had him as her surgeon and she is doing well. How far along are you in the process? My insurance requires a 6 month dr. supervised diet, so no surgery til the fall. I asked this question to the other Dothan sleever also - how did you choose your goal weight? Thanks and best of luck to you on your weight loss journey!! Susan

Happy Easter! How are you feeling? Hope you're doing well and feeling good! I go tomorrow afternoon for my initial visit and I'm so ready to start my journey. Did Dr. Marker want you to lose a specific amount before surgery? How did you choose your goal weight? I just want to be healthy and have no idea what my goal weight is!

Hi Casie! How are you feeling? I hope things are still going well for you! Did you happen to ask Dr. Marker how many sleeve surgeries he has done and have there been any complications? I have been reading some horror stories on here and I a little freaked out! LOL I probably should have stayed away from the "complications" section!! Susan

So glad you're doing well, Casie! I have several friends who have had either lap band or gastric bypass surgery and have seen them all lose weight and then gain back some or all of it back. Two had to have the band removed because it caused problems and the other that had it can eat (or does eat!) as much as she did before the surgery! I had originally thought about the band, but I really think the sleeve is for me. I, too, have read and read and read everything I can find about all the types of wls. I'm so glad to hear that you think a lot of Dr. Marker - maybe he will be my surgeon. I go for my initial visit on Monday - think it's just and info, insurance, etc. visit, right? Hope you're able to get all your liquids in and are feeling good!!

Hi Casie83! I am just beginning the wls process (6 mo wait for insurance) but am very interested in having the sleeve surgery. You are the first person I've found on this forum that has had the sleeve done in Dothan. How are you doing? Did you decide to have the sleeve or was it recommended by the doctor? Thanks for any info you feel comfortable sharing! Susan
