  1. I'm just starting the process for the sleeve. I saw the Bariatric Program Director for my initial intake information. I have Barrett's Esophagus which is pre-cancerous cells in my esophagus and I put that on my intake form. My concern is that I had read somewhere that you can't have bariatric surgery if you have this condition but he never batted an eyelash when I told him. I want and need this surgery so bad so I was glad it didn't seem to be an issue. But, now I am afraid I am going to jump through all the hoops only to talk with the surgeon after months of anticipation and work to be told I can't have the surgery. That would be crushing. My question is has anyone else with Barrett's Esophagus had this surgery and how has it affected you? I can only think that a 100 lb. necessary weight loss would be good for me in all ways. I sincerely hope I can get some feedback on this. Thank you...

Thank you everyone for your comments. Even though I have just started the journey (1April) I have seen the nutritionist and psychiatrist. The nutritionist told me about the Costco shakes. So glad to hear they are so well liked. I will get myself some. Thanks again!

I drink a premier shake every day. Wonderful way to get your protein.

Yes, I like them too. They taste good and have 30 g of protein- a lot more than most

    Appointment

Hi reaching high, I just had my psych eval 2 days ago. My insurance didn't pay either. I paid $229.00 and the dang interview lasted a full 4 hours! (Including paperwork) Felt like I was under a microscope starting from childbirth to present and I will be 59 next month! I don't know about others experiences with this but this guy was very detail oriented. I'm sure each one is different. I think the main object is to make sure you will follow through after surgery. They don't want you going through a major surgery and then not taking care of yourself by following the guidelines. I was glad when it was over. He told me before I left that he didn't see any reason why I could not go forward with surgery. So my advice is just be honest with your answers and everything will go well. Good luck on this amazing journey we are undertaking! I will hopefully be having my surgery in August!

    HANGRY!

Queen Bee Bee, sorry but I couldn't help laugh at your little rant! It's good to have a place to let these emotions out. I'm new to this site but have found it so helpful already. It's good for us all to hear the good and the difficult times. I'm in the just beginning category and I don't want to hear only the positive. I want to hear the real deal! When I get to that pre opp diet I want to know what to expect..REALLY expect! So thank you for posting your true feelings. I hope you are feeling better soon! Take care
