Sleevie2014, thank you for your comment. I will be looking for you. It will be interesting to compare our journeys since we both have Barrette's. Perhaps we will even be able to share solutions to common ailments, but most of all just to cheer each other on!

You are doing great! Preparing yourself before surgery, giving up the bad choices for good ones, will only make everything easier in the long run for you. Keep it up!

Pre-op nurse called me to old for surgery and made me nervous!
Nancy E. replied to Bigmommatojacob's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I will be 59 when I have my surgery done, hopefully early August. I am so looking forward to it and to having a new healthy me. You got yourself a bitter, ignorant nurse so don't give her any thought. I had one of those nurses 37 years ago when I had my first baby. She was a preemie and I only got to hold her about 30 sec. Before they whisked her away. Later the nurse on duty told me my baby wasn't doing well because of how selfish I was to want to hold her..all of 30 sec. Well, I felt so miserable for years about that. My daughter not only survivor end but thrived because of all the love and care we gave her. It took me years upon years to realize there was something wrong with that nurse and not me, just because I loved my baby and wanted to see her precious little face and touch her beautiful little body before they took her. Don't let your nurse do that to you!!! You are NOT to old to have this surgery. You are Not to old to take charge of your life. You are NOT too old to get healthy and enjoy each and every one of your new you days!!! So get in there, get the surgery and if you see that nurse again tell her to "F" off cause she is a terrible person. You will do great!!! (Sorry so long, but the nurses comment to you really hit a cord). -
Had my first negative spectator comment
Nancy E. replied to Kindle's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
As long as you are happy with the results and how you achieved them it is no one else's business. Some people are against anything that they themselves are afraid of. You show strength by following what is best for you. Keep it up! You are doing great! -
Men, does a woman's loose skin affect you at intimate times?
Nancy E. replied to Dr-Patient's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
New to the process so I'm interested in this as well. I'm sure at one point or another it has/will cross our minds. -

First Nutrition Counseling Session
Nancy E. replied to LalaTaylor's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Hi Lala Taylor, Sounds like you have a good nutritionist! Mine basically handed me some paper work with minor information on it, that told me to pick a good shake cause I would be drinking a lot of them and that was basically it. She did recommend Costco's Premier Protein shakes which appears to be a favorite on here, so I can at least be grateful for that. I've finished an interview with the psychiatrist and he approved me to go forward and now I'm in the 3 month medically supervised diet phase. I have my 2nd weigh in next week. I am hoping for an August surgery date..or earlier if possible. Do you have a surgery date yet? I wish you the best of success in all you do. You have made a wonderful decision for yourself and once we are each on the "other side" of surgery I know life will be healthier! So...To your health! :-) -
Hello everyone. First post
Nancy E. replied to michellew1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Michellew1, hi! I'm Nancy and I am hoping to have my by pass surgery or sleeve in August. I've been cleared by the psychiatrist, visited the nutritionist, and will have my 2nd weigh in next week. My insurance company requires 3 months supervised diet. I am excited to be on this journey and look forward to being healthy again. I go from excitement to nervousness, but that seems to be par for the course. I just want to have my surgery and move on to the next phase of my life..one that is FULL OF LIFE and not sitting on the sidelines! I wish you much success and am willing to share thoughts and feelings with you if you wish. This is a rather up and down roller coaster ride it seems, but we will all come through the other side in much better health! Take care, and bye for now. :-) -
You have a GREAT attitude going into this. It sounds like you are prepared to make your surgery a success and lose whatever weight you have left to lose in no time! Keep tight with your pre op diet..no cheats! Make it to the finish line!!!

Sleeved today
Nancy E. replied to hopeful2loose2014's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yippy!!! That is GREAT! You are now on the final road to being the YOU you want to be!!! Sorry about the gas. I know how that feels and it is horrible but keep in mind the benifits. YOU are there!!! Hang in there! You are going to be fine and SOOOOO happy in just a short while! -
Hi Sleeve2014, so I'm not alone on this journey! Someone else has one of my "conditions". I was ALL set for the sleeve. It's really what I wanted, but I have to be open to the bypass if indeed that is the only one the surgeon here will do on me.i don't even have a visit with the surgeon until my supervised diet is almost over which won't be until the end of June. Would you mind sharing with me why you prefer the sleeve to the by pass? I'd love to keep in touch with you and hear how it is all going for you. I hope the sleeve is everything you hope it to be. It sounds like it will be. Good luck on your surgery and to your continued success. It is so exciting to know there are so many people out their taking charge of their lives, doing something positive for them self!

What I let grief do to me.
Nancy E. replied to redhighheels's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Redhighheels, You have been through a lot. I am so sorry for your loss. I am glad that you are finally putting your needs and emotions first. As you said, your loved ones need you, and to be here for them you need to be healthy. I too use the dreaded C-pap (mine is a bi-pap) with oxygen. I was told with surgery I wouldn't need it anymore. I cannot wait for the day I say good bye to that miserable piece of equipment!! If your best friend is a true friend she will be happy for you, that you are taking the steps necessary to become healthy. Do this FOR YOU! I wish you much luck and success. I know you can do it so be strong and hang in there. Do you have a surgery date yet? -
Has anyone tried Costco's Premier Protein? It has 30 grams of protein if you have tried it was it good? Which flavor did you like best? Just starting this process and would appreciate feedback. Thank you.
-
Thank you shmily. I have a magic bullet and will try that today!!
-
Butterfly25, yes, that was my understanding also. That is why I made sure the intake information listed it and I brought it up specifically. I still didn't feel good about it so I called about a week later specifically to know for sure. One of the surgeons who performs the surgery told me I may have to switch from the sleeve to the bypas but other than that I should not have any problems with the surgery. SOOOOoooooo, I am going full forward with hopes of the best!

Chelly, my sister uses the Jay Robb protien and is really happy with it. Thank you for sharing! It seems as though chocolate is the favorite flavor so I bought some today. Can't wait to try it tomorrow! Is it better if you refrigerate it or can it just be tossed in your purse and drink it room temp? Any thoughts there? Thank you all so much for sharing your thoughts with me! :-)

CONGRATULATIONS! What an extra blessing to find out on Easter that you have created a new little life! How extra special!!! I wish you only the best for you and your unborn baby!!! Stay strong, because you can do it!!!!

I am so happy for you! I'm just in the beginning phase for surgery but already thinking about a tuck here and there. Glad to hear you are happy with the outcome!
-
So in case anyone else was wondering..I called AGAIN and found out from one of the surgeons who said there is no reason why I cannot have the surgery but instead of the sleeve I may need the bypass but he would not know that for sure until I do some tests. I really don't care which one I do, I'm just so happy I will be able to have bariatric surgery and begin a new phase in my life!
