WoW not sure what to say about your lack of support. I had to pay ahead for the support with a dietitian, exercise person and a psychologist for a year. It's been 3 years and I lost 98 lbs, almost 10 lbs this year. The difference was after I broke my wrist, got a little dog and started walking a milimum of 2 miles a day. I couldn't drive so I had to get out. I never heard of the diet you spoke of but I'll check it out. I want to lose those last 2 lbs. i can only assume it was the drastic change that helped budge the last few lbs. I was in a plateau for at least a year and half. My health is good except for a bit of anemia which I'm dealing with now. I eat fillet mignon each day along with an iron supplement. A couple of ounces is affordable and it's a nice treat. This site is a great source of support in itself even if you just read the posts. I hope thing start moving along for you.

Hi jabs i will be 3 years out on May 15th, my new birthday, wish it was 35 years. as of today I'm 97 lbs lighter. Never had any regrets, not an instant. Nothing I can't eat or drink, except for extremely sweets, i can only have one [/url]chocolate, not half a box. i was pre diabetic, needed a knee replacement but now no problems with my knee and i have a clean bill of health. My favorite thing is being able to cross my legs in addition to wearing flattering clothes. Be sure to get your Protein or you may risk anemia so I have a Protein Drink each day, i can only palate Premier Protein at 160 cal and 30 grams of protein. You can also eat greek yogurt at 12g and you will have a good head start. I don't worry about calories anymore. if i feel like eating anything i go for it but in very small quantities, kids meals are too much but the toys are cool. I give them to the food bank. I love Soups but still hates salads. by the way if you want to fell full for free, have a free meal by eating samples at costco I'm usually full before the lasts samples. Remember, liquids first but you will learn. Sometime my eyes are bigger than my stomach but my stomach always wins. I usually share with whoever i am eating with or order an appetizer which is always too much so i eat lots of leftover. If you like to drink alcohol, be careful you get drunk real fast on very little and sober up kind of fast. I no longer like wine just light beer but very occasionally now as i was developing a habit. I now have tea in the evening as i realized i was just thirsty, i don't like Water. My only comp;location is eosophagal cramps that resemble a heart attack its noes, let common, the first time it happened i was at a hotel and had to call the emergency. The EMT tested me gave may an EKG and my heart was fine, i took a couple of Tums and it went away. I was lucky to have a dr who recognized the condition right away soI now i take an omapremazole every day, i tried nexium but it doesn't work for me. Don't expect to look great naked, actually pretty creepy but i don't want plastic surgery at my age and except for my hubby, nobody else sees me that way. I have a wonderful husband who want to see me healthy and happy. i do look great in jeans. congratulation on your decision to live longer

Had the same and it was repaired during the sleeve operation. I would not have gone along with the operation if a bypass was my only option, nasty option. I love this sleeve and have not regretted it one second.

Ladybug and DaddyMarie, sorry for your loss... I may be the chosen one. The irony is that the prospect didn't bother me much, better bald than fat, at least for a while. It was more of a curiosity of the why. My hair is curly so perhaps its just not showing but I don't see much hair in the shower. I have been pretty good at eating 60 grams of Protein each day also.

Abigail, sorry about your hair loss, I wasn't too worried about losing mine, I was just curious. I know if it occurs it would be temporary like a bad hair cut. Congratulation on your great weight loss, I am having a hard time with the exercise part, first because I hate it and because of bad joints, otherwise i have no problem with the my new life. It is really a new life, food is now a different obsession. I don't have any problem with any food as long as of course its little portions and no sweets, I no longer crave sugar and I was an addict. Keep it up, you are closing in to your goal weight.

I had my surgery on the 15th of May, what the deal with the hair loss, I was expecting it around now but I still have a full head of hair. Did anyone lose their hair yet? I love this new small stomach, no regrets yet. The only problem is when I go out and order food, I see to want to take that extra bite or two and then it doesn't feel too good. I don't crave sweets but its ok because I don't tolerate it well. Hope you are all doing well.

Anyone get acid indigestion AFTER the sleeve?
lalise replied to Sherry S's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I ran out of the prescribed Prylocec and took some generic over the counter while at a casino in southern Oregon in the middle of nowhere and woke up with unbelievable chest pains. I thought I was having a heart attack, after the emergency technicians took my vitals and determined that my heart was fine I prayed that it was not a leak and went on my way. Next night, same thing but both time a tum helped relieve the pain so I realized that it was actually heart burn and got my prescription refiled. I used to have heartburn before the operation but nothing like that. If a little inexpensive pill will take care of the problem, i don't have a problem with that but chest pains were a bit too scary. -

Try 'Lose It' its free and will let you log your food with the upc code and let you see where you are as to the protein, carbs and fat on your phone and it will support fibit. I love it.

Hi May sleevers, I had my surgery on the 15th and am doing pretty good. I don't have that much energy, I miss coffee! I have to take a nap most mornings. I can eat about a half cup of food at a time and learned the sign of when to stop. I feel a low level burping feeling the minute that I have to stop, I tried the last couple of bites and its uncomfortable. I am having a terrible time drinking the water, its lucky if I get 4 cups a day, its a real challenge. My greatest help is from a free App on my iPhone, its called Lose It and it keeps track of all the food I eat with protein, carb and fat. All you do is scan the upc code for almost all the food. At the end of the week, you can print a report that you can bring to your nutritionist appointments. I just love it, nothing enter my lips without me entering the data. I just love technology, you can even get a scale that will, through bluetooth, enter you weight, BMI and hydration to the app. It makes keeping track so easy. Good luck to all!

Dylan, you are so lucky to be able to do this while you are still young. Be patient, you have a long healthy life ahead of you, I am 64 and wish I had done this at your age.

A question I will ask tomorrow is if there is such a thing as too much protein, I am getting about a 100 a day now. I know that too much protein can do a number on your kidneys. Perhaps short term is ok.

I have no craving at all, I could be at Sees and wouldn't be interested in any of their goodies, not even my old addiction the vanilla lollipops. i hope it stays that way and that all the gremlins have been yanked out. I know its not what they are called but i prefer calling then that.

I wasn't told when to drink or eat so I just keep on drinking the Isopure at 40 protein each bottles and I also got some nectar packets at the healthfood store. The nectars are a flavoring for water with protein. Until the 24th I can only do liquid, puddings cream Soups, broths and yogurt no lumps or chunks. I am doing fairly well on this and must be adequately hydrated my pee is almost clear. If only I could go #2 it would be nice. I started adding Probiotics to my yogurt, I didn't ask but perhaps I should. I will also ask about spylium. I started taking Tylenol liquid for adults instead of the opiate during the day so it may help. I could only find the house brand at wallgreen. I think I'm rambling.
-
I'm not sure if its equivalent but I have been drinking Isopure clear drinks, they have lots of protein and taste fairly good. It must be hydrating since I pee often and its almost clear. My problem is Jello, I can do without but it a bit strange. I had my sleeve on the 15th. I eat pudding and yogurt smooth. I am not hungry yet.

Hi, I had mine done on the 15th and thank God, No Gas! PSBC is an outpatient clinic but they keep the C-pap patients overnight, so I stayed. I was surprised how little pain whenever I was awake. Now that I am home I have to make sure I keep my schedule for the pain med. I am very forgetful so I will have to start writing it down. I have been getting lots of protein from the Isopure clear for the first 2 days, I was allowed jello but it wouldn't go down even though i was straining it through my teeth. Today I went shopping with my husband to find the liquid Tylenol for adults and could only find it at Walgreen, their house brand. I want to get off the dopey train during the day. I am drinking protein shakes and nectars so I am getting almost 100 gram of protein. I have pain around the hernia repair and the large incision where the remove the stomach, its bearable. I just bought some probiotics and started taking it to help with regularity, its been a while. Im not sure if I should have asked first but I will Monday. I am still glad I did it. I gained but I know its water so I'm not too worried. To those that didn't do it yet, its not so bad. You can ride the carts at the store, its kind of fun. Good luck! By the way I am dopey writing this and may forget i did.

May 20th sleever here. multivitamin?
lalise replied to Poppi610's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am in the pre-op phase and tried some chewy sample the nutritionist gave me and they are so delicious just like candies. The problem is after I tried one I got a strong craving for carbs. -
Hi you all, I am a Puget Sounder too, I live near Puyallup and am scheduled for May 15th with Dr Eric Harris at NW surgery in Edmond, he is not just a cosmetic surgeon, I suppose I will have the prettiest sleeve. I love the center, the people are so nice and they have the nutritionist and Psych people a day a week in Puyallup so its really convenient. Also they don't put you through the torture others have to go through pre-op that others have to go through. Some have to be on a liquid diet up to 3 weeks prior and they are hungry. I am finding the 40 carbs easy to follow.
-
Joybell, you are such a pretty young woman, you will be so happy when its done, I just wish I could have done this 30 years ago, it wouldn't have been mostly for health then. How are you doing with your liquid diet, have you tried making popsicles with your clear liquids, the Isopure clear is high in Protein and makes pretty good popsicles. I'll be thinking of you on your day just before mine.
-
Wow, this is making me feel good reading how you are doing so good after the surgery. Today is my birthday and my gift is coming on the 15th. I've been so busy that I didn't remember it until I saw the calendar today, I have been getting cards but still forgot. I don't even get my 40 grams of carbs a day so I will have a real skinny liver. The month is not over so good luck to the rest of may sleevers!
-
i have not gone through it yet but, i plan to make popsicle with the clear Isopure, its a bit pricey at about $4 a bottle but I think its still worthy for the clear days. I tried a batch and my only problem is to keep hubby from them, Just joking, after the operation he wont even think about it. He is a little afraid something will go wrong.
-
Jess, I will be with you on that day but I am so busy that I barely have time to think about it. Fire at mom's place in while she is on vacation in Arizona and a new job for my husband where I already work part time, prep for an intimate talk with about 3, 000 high school students, speak on stage to the said students, arrange to get new floors installed, plant bulbs. prep for post op etc... this is just a sample. My center doesn't have me on the liquid but I do it because of the convenience so find something to keep you busy but make sure you don't let the gremlins roar, I find that the shakes actually help. I call them gremlins, there is a technical name but i don't know how to spell it.
-
Joybell, I am not sure why there are such variety of pre-op diets out there. My surgery is on the 15th and all I am required is to limit my carbs to 40 grams or less, thats not net carbs though. Perhaps they want you to maximize the weight loss prior to the surgery for safety. Of course you have to do what they require and good luck, just 10 more days. When I want to cheat I remind myself that my life depend on It. I wish I had constructive suggestions to help you beside going on YouTube and watching the success stories. Sound like you have lots to live for. Good luck, I'll be thinking of you on the 14th.
-
Hi, I'm 63 but will be 64 May 9th, my surgery is scheduled for May 15th. I am excited and not at all nervous yet. The pre-op diet is rather easy I can eat anything as long as it is less than 40 carbs a day and thats not net carbs. I was curious how this age group was doing since as we age the metabolism slows down but it appears that you are all proceeding nicely, congratulation.
