  1. It will come together, when you are ready. I postponed my surgery for a month because I was not ready, but the more research I did, the more I realized I not only wanted the sleeve, but NEEDED the sleeve. I did not have a negative experience at all...in fact the months of worry and panic were much more stressful than the actual procedure and recovery. I also had food funerals, on top of food funerals, saying goodbye to my friends... fast forward several weeks, and I had my sleeve in December of 13. I had a very easy recovery, was able to eat purees the day I left the hospital. I had achey pain, but nothing bad at all. I had no nausea. Now, at four+ months out, I am down 60+ lbs and off all diabetes meds and insulin. I have been able to eat almost anything, even salad and beef, just not much at a time. The only real regret I have is not doing it sooner, years sooner!
  2. You can do this! I agree, get rid of the caffeine so you detox before surgery. I also would start practicing eating REALLY sloooowly, and not drinking for 30 minutes before and after you eat. This is very difficult to do, and something I wish I had done differently before surgery. You will do great!
  3. I think that most of us get too caught up in pounds...first, you may have lots of Fluid from surgery, which takes a while to lose. Also hormones, Water retention, sex (male vs. female - males lose much faster in general), etc. I was sleeved in December, and I too was a slow loser at first...but I am losing big. Everyone is different as to how their bodies lose...so dont compare to others... Also, it is simple math. If you are taking in under 1000 or less calories, you WILL LOSE. The time table may sputter, start, slow, go fast, but it will happen. Compare your calories now to before surgery, and it is a simple math problem. I promise, it will come!!! God bless.

    Comorbidities and surgery

I also had several comorbidities...diabetes, high bp, reflux. And I only wish I had done it much sooner....I am four months out, the worry was horrible...I changed my surgery date twice! and didnt need to... I have gone from an AIC of 7.4 and taking insulin every day to 5.4 (normal) and no meds. I was off bp meds by two months after surgery. And I have more energy and drive than in years. The sleeve is wonderful... God bless you in your decision!

    Doubting...please help

I had surgery in December...so I am 16 weeks out. I was allowed to start puree in hospital, and was able to move to soft foods within 3 weeks, and regular foods in 5 weeks. Honestly, I was so nervous I changed my surgery from November to December. I had so many "Food funerals" that I gained 4-5 lbs....had to have one last bite of everything... Then, after surgery, I realized that life isnt that changed! Yes, you have a few weeks on a liquid/puree diet. This is tough, but you have no choice...then, when you get back on real foods, you realize you can have many foods...but not much of them. It is a wonderful, wonderful tool. I eat maybe 4-5 oz, and I am stuffed...this is like 2-3 oz of protein, and 1-2 oz of veggies, and I feel like I have had Thanksgiving dinner . It is amazing, and awesome. I have had steak, popcorn (and my NUT encourages popcorn as a healthy snack after three months!), shrimp, salad, etc...all delicious. But you get full, and feel satisfied. My diabetes has been almost reversed. My AIC has gone from 7.4 to 5.4 - normal. I am off insulin, BP meds, etc. God is Good!

  7. You will be fine, these feelings are sooo normal! I was a wreck, so badly that I postponed surgery for a month...and BELIEVE me, the worry was much, much worse than the surgery. I was on my feet within hours, and able to drink and sip the next day. I have had no complications other than reflux since surgery. I love the sleeve!

    pain?

It really is not bad...I had pain meds the day of surgery, but didnt need them for more than the second day. I was achey and it hurt to sit up, but not too badly!
