4-Wheeling after the band? Weird question...
Freebird replied to missymoo78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My husband and I 4-wheel all of the time. Granted, I was banded in December 2007 and we did not go wheeling until about April other than around town in the deep snow, so had plenty of time for healing. My port gets tender for a couple of days, depending on the length of time wheeling and the terrain, but it is nothing that hangs around for long. I ensure that I take LOTS of water and a couple of protein bars with us as we never know when we will make it back to the truck for lunch. Have fun wheelin'. -
I too was "stuck" when it came to the scale, but since I increased my protein intake, I am losing consistently again. I take in 60 to 70 grams of protein daily, without fail. I wish you the best of luck.

Make that 2 new citizens!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL, I weighed in this morning at 199.6. It's below 200, by very little, but it is still below. Congratulations to everyone who has reached "onederland".
-
Where in Wyoming are you from? No, I have not tried the bars, have you tried them or are you just trying to get opinions? I live in Cheyenne.

I know the feeling. I too have been up, down, up, down, 2 to 3 pounds, the same fricking pounds, for what seems like forever. Today, EVERYTHING I ate came back up. I don't have days like today very often, thank goodness. I am pretty discouraged at this point. I am weighing in at between 202 and 204 and soooooooo bad want to hit onederland but am really wondering if it will ever happen. I am way more active, exercise wise, than I ever have been and these same 2 to 3 pounds are really aggravating me. Sorry, I just needed to "vent" I guess.

Has anyone had a glass of beer after being banded?
Freebird replied to jen2learn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I do not drink often, maybe three times a year. In fact, I had about a half of a beer on Saturday, no problems. It was hot and I had been working in the heat all day with my husband and when he cracked open a beer I could not resist and ask for a drink and before I knew it, it was half gone. I was totally satisfied at that point and drank no more. I have been banded for just over six months. -
Just a guess, but, when I was smoking I gained a significant amount of weight, eat, smoke, eat, smoke, eat, smoke. It was a ficious cycle. You really are not doing yourself any favors by continuing to smoke and the attempt to lose weight. Why get the band if you are not willing to go the extra mile???? Don't want to sound mean and I guess you can call it a "reality" check and besides, you ask the question. I feel soooooooooooo much better since quitting smoking 3 years ago, long before I thought of getting the band. Good luck.

I have begun riding my recumbent bike to work every day now that the weather is nice. It is 1.5 miles one way and I feel wonderful after pedaling my way to work and back home. May not be much, but it is more than I did before. I am 5 months out from surgery and 48 pounds (approximately) lost. Maybe biking will be the jump start that I need to get off this plateau. I also, received last night, my trikke, and I am learning how to ride it and maybe one day I will be trikking to work. :cursing:
-
Sue Magoo: I received notification yesterday that the expected receive date of my trikke is on Monday the 19th. I am wayyyyyyyyyyy excited.

My fills, in Wyoming, run $339.00 but my insurance covers 100%. So, per the other replies, my doc is high also.

HELP!!!!!!!!!! I am losing my long hair by the handful.
Freebird posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just passed my 3 month postop date and my hair is coming out BADLY. I expected some loss but this is ridiculous. I take 2400 mg of fish oil daily, Biotin 5000 mcg daily, I just got some flax seed and organic quinoa to help get more Protein in daily. I get between 45 and 55 grams of protein daily, doctor said I should get 60 to 70 grams when I was preparing for surgery. Could this "shortage" of protein be doing this???????? I am so close to cutting off my hair because of this. It goes 3/4 down my back but it is EVERYWHERE and I am a) concerned and :success1: tired of it. P.S. I have recently started a new job and am stressed right now learning it, but the hair loss began before this. Please, any advice, comments, whatever would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. -
My plateau is 1 to 3 pounds up and down for two to three weeks at a time and then I drop another 2 pounds and then repeat the plateau again. It is disappointing but I am learning to live with it. Banded in December and have lost 38 pounds. I try to remember that it took "how many years" to put it on, let it come off slowly, but that gets hard at times.

Cheyenne, Wyoming: I have some excess drinks, chick bouillon, gelatin and pudding
Freebird posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
that I would like to sell. I was banded three weeks ago and so this stuff is fresh, not like it has been in the counter for months or anything. I would like somebody to be able to use this stuff and I am selling it for less than what it cost me. If anybody has any ideas on how to locate people that may need this stuff, any information would be appreciated. E mail address: birdfun@bresnan.net Thank you all in advance. -
Two weeks out from surgery and have plateaued for a week, what the heck???
Freebird posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am still on mushie foods. I started back on the treadmill and rowing machine two days ago and I started back on my outdoor walks today (short walk, but felt good). I have not lost anything in a week!!!!!!!!! What could I possibly be doing wrong??? Did I make a mistake. Granted, I could not have lost the 15 pounds that I have lost without the band, but I am reading right and left about how much more everybody else seems to be losing. I COULD JUST CRY!!!!!!!!! Help please, I need some support. :help::help::help: -
I am on post op day 5 and have had no problems. Oh, a twinge here and there, nothing major. I have been out of the house several times, sleeping on either side. Today, however, is the best one yet postoperative. It gets better with each day, keep working on it, keep occupied as best as possible. Each and every one is going to experience different pain, different twinges, lose weight differently. All we can do is be here for each and everyone on this board that has what it takes to go through the surgery and make a lifestyle change, forever.

Today is day 4 post surgery for me also. I am feeling pretty good today. The gas seems to be moving today, at least easier than it has been, LOL. I can definitely tell a difference between yesterday and today and hopefully this trend continues. Hang in there, it won't last.

Well, I got banded on Monday but they kept me overnight. When I got home yesterday all I could do is sleep (anesthesia and I don't get along). So, here I am this morning feeling pretty darn good. Thus far, no regrets and am actually happy to have my hubby here this week to help me out. :clap2: Had half an orange Popsicle for Breakfast and am full. I hope everybody else's surgery goes well. :whoo:
