Newbie from Minnesota looking for support.

HI- I am new to this website too! It is exciting to begin the WLS journey!! I have completed all of the tests and just got my surgery date. I am now waiting for my insurance to approve it. I really hopes that it will come through because my surgery is set for June 10th. Someone gave me the advice to listen to the Surgeon's office and do what they say to do. The nurse has been advising me. They want the business and they know the local insurance companies inside and out. I have been doing this and it looks like it is working. I hope that it all works out for you. Feel free to ask me anything and if I know the answers I will be glad to help!!

    June 2014 Dates!?

I got my date! Surgery is scheduled for June 10th!! I am very excited, but my insurance has not approved the surgery yet. Has anyone else had this happen? My surgeon's office told me that the insurance would not approve it until the Dr scheduled it. I am afraid to get my hopes up, afraid they won't approve it. I really hope that my surgery goes as planned!!

Reflux & Gerd reason for surgery

GERD and hiatal hernia are two of the main reasons I am having the Roux-En-Y surgery. I have never had the lap band. I have talked with three different specialists about this surgery and how helpful it will be for my reflux. They have all agreed that this takes care of GERD/reflux in a majority of the cases. This combined with my much needed weight loss will greatly reduce my health problems. I am very excited about starting this journey. I hope to have my surgery in June. Good luck!

Give your opinion to tell or not

I thought from the beginning I didn't want to tell anyone but a few close friends and a few family. But I guess they are nosy or I am a bad liar because they keep asking what surgery I am having. I have told them I am having a hiatal hernia repaired (which I am during the roux-n-y surgery). I don't know what else to say when people keep asking me. These are my friends and family but I am uncomfortable telling them what surgery I am having. What can I tell them to get them to quit asking questions?
