I everyone I am new this and I am currently going through the process with Kaiser here in Oregon. I am wondering if anyone else has gone through or is going through the process with Kaiser and how things progressed for you and timelines. I am going to my second group meeting on Wed.

I am doing great down 103 lbs total. I am down 69 lbs since surgery. It's been very easy to get used to and not many issues with eating or feeling sick either. Thanks for asking.

How much are you all able to swallow and hold in your new stomach?
luckyduckie153 replied to Jolisue's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I can drink as much fluid as I want it seems. I have a friend who had to do a barium swallow test and they said they watched what happens once it hits the pouch and it just swirls around a few times and empties. So if you wait a couple minutes between sips you should be able to sip all day. Once you move to softs and solids then you can sip all day minus the 30 mins before and after your meals. That is the case for me anyways I had mine done 9/12 -
Hi I'm 22 waiting to hear from the insurance should be getting it in September or October

I think the surgery and recovery process is different for everyone. I had my surgery on Friday morning and it has been very easy for me. I have had minimal pain and been able to do quite a bit of walking. It is very odd to not be hungry now though. I would do this process again in a heart beat though for a healthier life. -

Yes I had the RNY. And things are still going good for me. I have been able to get in a lot of walking in and haven't needed pain meds much. Only downside right now is my temp is a little elevated but the docs do seem to be worried about it at this point. But over all it's going great you guys will all do great when your time is here! -

Had my surgery this morning about 12 hours ago now. I am doing okay a little sore but nothing I can't tolerate. Congrats on your 15th surg date -
My doctor has not said anything about the mini pull and that is the only form I can use. Did anyone's doc say why it couldn't be used in the first month?

I know exactly what you mean even things that I can't stand are sounding good. But knowing the reasoning behind why we have to do it makes it a little easier. I would rather not have damage to my liver and be stuck with a drain in for it. And I get the having or feeling like there is not enough time to prepare everything I have to get done. I have two kids under 5 years old and trying to remember everything I have to get in place for them has been a bit stressful. -

I struggled with my liquid diet the first few days and now it's a breeze. I do have to keep my self busy though or when I get bored I want to eat. I am glad to be down weight and old clothes are starting to fit so that part is exciting. It's crazy how fast it really comes only 6 more days -

It is going okay, I am 6 days in and to the point I am not feeling hungry all the time. I am lucky I did not get the horrible headache also. -

Hi my name is Alicia I have my surgery on the 12th getting so close I would love to have some support people going through it around the same time. I also have only made it to one support group due to work and it was nothing as I would have expected. Beth have you started your liquid diet or pre-op diet yet? -

I expect it to hurt I've been told it will be similar to when I had my gallbladder removed and that hurt but was not unmanageable. Congrats on being down 55 lbs so far. I think that's my biggest fear is I will do this and do everything right and won't lose, I know it's silly but the thought is still there. -

how are you doing post op? I have my surgery on the 12 so excited -
I am having an RNY done. I am scheduled for Sept 12 so close to being there. How long is the process with your insurance or doctors office?
-
hi I am 26 and meet with my surgeon on Monday and hopefully will get my date scheduled. Where are you at in your process?
-
I had my last appoint with Tricia and Brenda on June 6th and I have my surg consult with Dr. Kim on July 29th still crossing my fingers for a sooner date. It looks like with Kaiser right now people are stating to schedule their surgeries in September already. There is a good pre-op support group on Facebook mainly for Kaiser patients if you haven't joined already. Good luck!
-
that's great how are you doing? I had my meetings with Trish and Brenda today and follow up in a month.

I am from Oregon City area, still pre-op hoping to have to my surgery in summer or early fall this year. I am a Kaiser patient so I just finished all the classes and have my nutrition and social worker apt in a few weeks. Fingers crossed they will send me through to review and get to meet with the surgeon at the end of may or June glad to see other ppl from the area on here.

Hey guys I am 26 I am with Kaiser I have my 2nd group class tomorrow and then should be scheduling my appointments for my psych eval and with the nutritionist. You guys are a little further ahead than me but it's nice to hear what other peoples experiences are and have been especially around my age. If all goes well I am hoping to meet with my surgeon and schedule a date in the next month or two -
Yes that is a super long class! So glad ours isn't that long up here.

Oh that's awesome! We have an 8 week class and two group meetings before we meet with the nutritionist and the psych appointment I am just hoping that all goes quickly for me! Glad you are feeling well!
