Anyone getting sleeved in July or August? Looking for buddies!

Don't understand...... I'm 5'11 had mine done bye dr. Lufti in November...... Their team was great.... My surgeon is Dr. Tiesenga, he was the one who stated that to me.
-
St.Joseph's does it but you have to be a particular height, according to my surgeon. He said I was too tall (5'7) for it.

Lucky you! I have to do 2-week liquids only diet. I would stick to what your Dr recommends. The pre-op diet is mostly to shrink the liver a bit and also to show that you actually did the diet and can make the commitment. Good luck!

Looking for July Sleevers!
goodbye replied to fearnot's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How long is your pre-op diet? Mine officially starts on the 23rd but I'm going to start next Monday so I can ease into it a bit since it's a strict liquid diet. Not looking forward to it... -
Losing Too Much Pre-op for Sleeve
goodbye replied to shardy727's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have BCBS and I'm not required to do a med supervised diet! Double check your med policy! Either way, the doc usually sends your initial BMI but from what I hear the diet is supposed to show that you can't drop a "normal" amount of weight through dieting (25+ lbs). If I were you, I would put in a little less effort the next few months to be on the safe side... -
Should I try Protein Shakes Now or Just Wait?
goodbye replied to Myonlybattle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nutritionist said it's ok to try different powders prior but to not go crazy buying different flavors because chanced are that your taste buds may change a bit after surgery. -

July 7 is the day for me! It hasn't hit me yet but I'm ready to get started with this journey! -
How much time off work, desk job
goodbye replied to Sherra O.'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm wondering the same thing except I'm a college student. I'm taking only one class this summer from 1-5pm, three times a week. Will one week off be enough for me to return back to school. I'm more worried about the pain than anything else. -
Ins requires 3 months office said 6?
goodbye replied to Luvin_Life125's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think the extra 3 months is just how long it will take to get approval from insurance and also the additional appointments needed before surgery. I don't have a lot of requirements but it's not as quick of a progress as I thought it would be. I started back in april the process and I'm looking at maybe a late June/early July surgery date. -
For those stalling, has your diet or workout routine changed?

extreme hair loss
goodbye replied to Madelyne Bonthron's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After seeing SO MANY threads about this topic, I decided to consult a dermatologist and surgeon about this. They both told me that of course everyone is different but that ultimately it is something that CAN'T be avoided no matter how many pills and products you use. They said that with surgery your body goes through shock and is looking for any kind of resource in your body to stabilize. The body is losing nutrients with surgery and it takes a while for the body to adjust which is why the amount of protein you take doesn't matter initially and why the hair loss lasts a couple of months. It's going to take a few months for the body (and hormones) to stabilize and get back to normal and then your hair starts growing back. Initially I was concerned because I've always had long hair and pride myself in my hair but I also have PCOS which causes my hair to come out in chunks, luckily I don't have any bald spots but it's something that I'm use to so for me a couple more months of hair loss in exchange for weight loss and a new, healthier version of myself is something I'll gladly deal with! Plus, I already have my weave picked out if needed lol. -
Has anyone had surgery with Dr. Frederick Tiesenga from Elmwood Park, IL?

I'm wondering the same thing! I had my consult with him today. -

Wow you look great! Congrats! This is such motivation for me. -
wanting to get started what do i need to do first?
goodbye replied to renagirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think most surgeons would operate on you because your bmi is low and weight loss surgery is usually for people who are severely/morbidly obese. -
Anyone getting sleeved in July or August? Looking for buddies!

At this rate, I'm looking into a mid to late July date. I just have to complete a sleep study, a bariatric class (both on the same day) and get a letter of support from my doctor. The only thing that's kinda delaying the process is that my doctor is dragging his feet and is being a bit difficult, so I'm scheduled to see another doctor who hopefully is a bit more cooperative. I'm 26 and 284lbs, ready to start my new journey! -
Who do I tell? Is it ok to only tell a couple people?
goodbye replied to Sassypants92201's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told my mother only because she's my support person. I was hesitant because she's a bit of a babbler but she's the only person I can count on right now and she's had surgery before, so she'll know what I'll go through. I don't plan on telling anyone else because it's none of their business and I don't feel like having to explain my decision to haters because you know there's always a few lol. -
How was the process before surgery? Did you heave to go throw a bunch of hoops? Great! Thanks!
-
I was looking into Dr Lutfi, especially since he does single incision gastric sleeve!
-
I also have BCBS IL! Are they strict about where you have surgery? I've gone to North Shore so far and have an appt at UChicago and thinking about checking out U of IL program. I may check out Little Company since a lot of people seem to like the place but I'm just concerned about the distance (I live in Lakeview) and pain after surgery!

Newbie here from Chicago! I'm in the very early stages for WLS and in the process of "shopping" for a surgeon. I've never had any kind of surgery before so I'm trying to get as much info I can get as possible. Which hospital did you have surgery? Who was your surgeon? How was your experience from start to finish? Any pros/cons? Did your program have you do a supervised diet? How long was the process? Any kind of info will help! Thanks!
