Hi everyone, I was banded on June 15th and so far I'm down 23 pounds. I haven't had a fill yet, going for my first one this friday and I can't wait I need it. I have not had any problems with being sick, or bp'ing. I feel like I can eat whatever I want so I hope a fill will fix this. Sara

respiratorygirl replied to lovecats85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I went to an out of network Dr. Just because I loved him the first time I met him, hes very kind and gentle and a great surgen. I had surgery on June 15th I haven't gotten any bills yet but the insurance told me they were only paying around 800 and my total to pay out of pocket would be around 6200. Sara -
A little trip one week after surgery?
respiratorygirl replied to Margo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Margo, I would have to say I thought I was feeling much better days 5-10 but didn't realize until after I got out of the house how crappy I felt, dizzy, tired. I would say to venture out to the store or something first to see how you feel. You don't want to get on a bus an than decide you don't feel so well. Sara -
I went swimming at the 3 week mark and have had no trouble.

I was banded the same day as you Keri, june 15th. I did 3 weeks of liquids and than my Dr. put me directly on solid food as tolorated, I was never so happy to get some food. I'm definately not eating as much as before. I'm looking forward to my first fill, I see my Dr. June 21st, I'm down 16 pounds. Sara

Well I survived, I felt pretty crappy for the first few days but slowly came around and started walking outside. I took 8 days off from work. Just returned back last Friday. I lost 12 pounds the first week and 0 so far the second, which I don't know how thats possible, but anyways. I saw my doctor last week and he told me to get my but into the gym, which I have started. Over all I'm feeling pretty good. Sara

My Dr. also tald me gum was a no no, if swollowed it could completely block the band and than I would be in big trouble.

Nita, I was banded the same day as you, trust me it will get better, I still don't feel 100% yet by far. I'm still tired during the day and not sleeping that well at night because I can't get comfortable. My port is still quite sore. Give it some time and I'm sure we'll be fine. Sara -
Thats great Babs, you have came a long way and deserve the plastic surgery, let us know how you look and feel afterwards. Sara

My doctor told me nothing over 20 pounds for 4-6 weeks and I've been sucking that up. My husband now has to take out the trash and the laundry basket down the stairs...haha. Its because they do cut completely through the muscle and lifting weight afterwards can cause a hernia.

I feel your pain Carolyn, I was banded on June 15th. I have to do thin liquid for 3 weeks than go directly to solid food on the 4th week. Its not even been one week yet and today I'm ravishing hungary and I'm starting to get aggitated and snap at my husband over nothing. Hopefully we will survive this!!

Wow Kari, you seem to be doing better than I am. I was banded at 12:00 yesterday and I couldn't even imagaine out walking around the block at this point. Its been the roughest 24 hours in my life. I didn't have any gas pain but my port is extremely sore. I can't really bend over or move easily and i'm only walking in small steps. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

I'm feeling like you Nita, I stomach was pretty upset yesterday but thank god the nurses gave me a shot before I left to help with it. I feel like making it to my computer at this point was a huge step... Hope your feeling better soon too! -
Hi Kari, I'm also being banded on June 15th. My doctor only requires one day liquids before surgery. But he does require a endoscopy and pressure monitoring of the stomach before surgery which I don't see that other doctors require so I guess they all have their ups and downs.

Thanks ANEWMEAK, I really like Dr. Gritsus also. I even found out that he was out of network for my insurance co and they gave me some in network doctors. I felt so comfortable with Dr. Gritsus that I'm paying out of pocket to see him. Your doing a great job with your weight loss, keep up the great work! -
Hi everyone, I'm preparing for my June 15 surgery. I was wondering what those that have been banded say is must have items at home after surgery. I don't want to have to be running out to the store to pick up something I had forgot. My Dr. also allows Protein shakes after surgery. I have tried these before and gaged them down, I definately don't want to be throwing up from drinking a shake. What kind of Protein Shakes do you all recommend that is at least drinkable? thanks Sara
