Gettinsmall replied to Gettinsmall's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My absolute favorite is unjury. I like their unflavored, chocolate and vanilla. It's about $30 per canister. I use it daily. how many servings per canister? -
Gettinsmall started following Cigna OAP require 3 or 6 month for approval, Batiatric advantage protien ahake?, First surgeon appt and and 4 others

I just had my first appt with my NUT. or rather my up-sell specialist. I bought a bag of bariatric advantage protein powder for $75. It only has 30 servings in it. Is there a better priced one out there?

I today was my first appt with my surgeon. I meet with the NUT in 2 weeks and the psych. There is a three week diet requirement with my insurance so it looks like if everything goes well I'm looking at July/august. I'm very scared/excited.

Super Nurses With Sleeves (Support Group)
Gettinsmall replied to Need-a-Sleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
11 yrs icu nurse here. Hardest part I think may be the daily deluge of patient appreciation goodies in the break room. -
So I went to the initial group seminar this is what your getting into thing already. This Thursday is my first appt with my surgeon. I'm pretty excited. I have read through these forums and it all seems like such a huge change in my life and comfort zone. I hope I make it through the process. I'm sure I'm not the first to feel this way. But I keep thinking of the huge up side.

Just a guess but I've heard a lot about vsg removing parts of your stomach that secrete hormones that cause hunger. In just tucking it away you may not get the added benefit of the hormone removal. More of a band approach but I guess probably better than the band

If i could turn back time...
Gettinsmall replied to lkleigh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
that sucks. I hope it is temporary for you. I have ready through a lot of these posts and have to believe that you have an rare situation. I would follow up with your surgeon. I am in no way an expert on this as I am still really early in the process but that doesn't sound right. -

to really split hairs nursing is it's own thing. It is not medicine at its core. Florence nightingale worked very hard to distinguish nursing from medicine. One of my pet peeves is when nursing uses a caduceus as a logo.

So it hits me...... No Beer!
Gettinsmall replied to Gettinsmall's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I do love me an occasional black and tan.. Just more black, less tan I guess -

So let me start out by saying that I drink alcohol maybe 2-3 times a year. A six pack will go bad in my fridge before I drink it all if I buy it. With that said I do enjoy an occasional ice cold beer. I was sitting on the side of the bed this morning just thinking and it hit me.... No more beer. I am early in he process so i'm sure plenty of other things will hit me as well. I just tell myself that the advantages of being small far outweigh anything I may feel I miss.

Things I want for my life

It's amazing how the simplest things will make us the happiest. I need to add one. I worked around the house all day, cleaning carpets and hanging pictures. I am in horrible pain. Can't wait to able to work like a normal person and not hurt. -

Cigna OAP require 3 or 6 month for approval
Gettinsmall replied to JacobsMommy's topic in Insurance & Financing
Very new to all of this, I have my first appt with the surgeon on the 24th. I am hoping to get the info I need for the diet so I can go back to my PCP with it. What does insurance want for the 3 month diet? My PCP will do what ever I need him to do. Do they just want documented weights for 3 months with documentation of dietary modification discussion? referral to dietitian? Do they require a certain amount of weight loss during that time? -
I can't speak to the specifics of much as I am just getting started in this whole thing. But as far as outpatient or not a 23 hour stay from admission is considered observation usually. As far as staying longer goes typically when your docs feel you can go home and writes the order you have to go or risk paying the bill for that extra day on your own. Only thing you could do is hopefully convince your doc to keep you an extra day. I am an RN So I am speaking only to as things normally go in the hospital. Your situation may be different.
