Hard time drinking plain water any suggestions please
MammaMac replied to Sassy in pink's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I only drank water pre-surgery and now it makes me nauseous every time. I struggle to get my liquids every day. I now drink about 50 ounces a day of hot chamomile tea & 20 ounces of water if I can stomach it. My doctor prescribed me cream to put on my wrists to help with nausea. I am very hopeful now having seen a lot of you say this passes :-) -MM -
Btdt. It was a buttered homemade roll. I felt like I ate the sofa. -MM

6 months out and HICUPS.... anyone? LOL
MammaMac replied to skinnygirlwithin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm like skinnygirlwithin. I hiccup one to a half a dozen times randomly when eating. Sometimes after just one bite, sometimes when I'm finished. -MM -
I Am wondering how you have your mfp goals set up for food. My nut doesn't have a set for mfp so I thought I'd pick y'all's brains :-) I'm talking about calories/carbs/protein, etc. Thanks! -MM

Eating out with friend for the first time
MammaMac replied to knitlil09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went out with two other couples and my husband (my husband is the only one who knows). I are slowly and talked a lot and when I was done, I just passed my plate to the waiter while everyone else was chatting away. It's harder with just one person because they can tell. My sister got on me about not eating... It's weird how I now look at what I eat as being a normal portion and everyone else eats a LOT. My advice? Order something like a big mixed salad. Then you can eat the protein bits out, some veggies and move the rest around on your plate while you chat. Then pass your plate to the waiter when he comes to ask how you're doing. If she isn't paying attention, it'll be too late to see how much is left on your plate. -MM -
My doctors office got me the script for the scar cream at my first post op appt. I have like ten flipping bottles of it! I applied for insure nutrition afterwards & was approved. So all I'm getting from them is the protein drinks. - MM

What's the one thing you had all wrong?
MammaMac replied to Shiner86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I underestimated the adjustment period. The immediate after surgery sucked so bad. Not being able to drink hardly anything, the reflux, the sliming.... I'm 11 weeks out now and I have a pretty good grasp but most days when I sit down to eat, I still feel like a total newbie. -MM -
11 days out- 32 oz protein shake takes 30 minutes to drink
MammaMac replied to mi75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I make my shakes with 8oz of coconut milk, one scoop of protein powder and a ton of ice. My shake usually ends up being about 28oz. It takes me 2/3 hours to drink it in the morning. -MM -
I don't know what you mean? Like would someone else fill the protein drink script? I don't know any pharmacy that would do that... -MM

I applied after surgery... I don't know if anyone got the script prior to surgery... -MM

I jut went on the website and filled out the do I qualify info. They faxed a prescription to my dr office and I let my dr office know and asked them to sign it. They sent it back and insure nutrition deals with your insurance. My insurance approved it... -MM

I ordered the vivofit. I would have loved to have been able to get the fitbit force but since they are recalled I'll wait for their next model and try it out :-) In the meantime, my vivofit will be here Saturday! :-) -MM

I'm on the fence... Fitbit vs vivofit... Anyone have them? What do you love/hate? Thanks! -MM

Can you have beer, wine or alcohol after you heal?
MammaMac replied to bon trin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my first glass of wine 2 months post op. I was terrified. I didn't know if it would make me sick or mega drunk and since no one really knew about my surgery, I didn't want either to happen. I cannot drink as quickly as I could preop so a glass of wine takes me awhile but I am not one of those that gets buzzed off of a glass either. I could drink almost a bottle preop before I got a buzz but I can't handle that capacity now. A glass or two on occasion for me is nice :-) -MM -
How often do you step on the scale?
MammaMac replied to Guerml95's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Right after surgery, I weighed daily. It became an obsession. I would be so upset when it didn't move or when it move up a few ounces. Now I am a weekly weigher. I weigh in on Tuesday mornings. I find I like this much more. The scale almost always moves down a little (and sometimes a lot!) and I don't focus so much on the weight loss. One of the reasons I had my surgery was so I could stop obsessing over my weight. I know I'm losing, I don't have to track every lost ounce :-) -MM -
I got married last weekend and we were there for four days with friends and family (almost none of whom know about my surgery). I took a small "desk" blender with me and I had protein drinks at least once a day. Other than that I tried to eat my protein first. I did drink wine throughout the weekend *carefully*. Did I snack? Yes. Did I have a small piece of my wedding cake? Yes. Was I perfect during my four days? No way. But I was careful and I did pay attention :-) have a wonderful time! -MM

How long until you had your first drink?
MammaMac replied to 4.7.2014's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I got married last weekend and one of the things I was worried about what not being able to have a drink. My surgery was 4/23. I sipped several glasses of wine throughout the weekend and never even copped a buzz. I was so shocked since the general consensus seems to be that your tolerance will be very low. I drink very rarely, but it's nice to know that when I do, I won't be falling down drunk from a glass of wine :-) -MM -
is there anyone else who does NOT own a scale?
MammaMac replied to MAJIQUE's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I weigh weekly at work, not at home. Otherwise I become obsessed with it. I even missed last week and it didn't bother me. The scale owned me for too many years. -MM -
How long until you had your first drink?
MammaMac replied to 4.7.2014's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had a glass of wine over the weekend and drank it very very slowly. I never had any effects but like I said it was slow, I'm almost 3 months out. -MM -
9 weeks - food aversion-nausea -HELP
MammaMac replied to 4.7.2014's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgery was 4/23. I get mega nauseous when I drink water... And a few other times through out the day for what I thought was no reason. Turns out, I'm hungry. I had no idea because I can't tell anymore. I am not on a strict eating schedule by my doc/nut so I'm learning my new stomach. I wake up nauseous many mornings and as soon as I start my protein shake, I start feeling better. I usually try and have some eggs and beans while I drink my shake (over about 2/3 hours). Around 11:30, nauseous again. Lunchtime. If I drink water during this time, it's like it makes my stomach mad. Like "hey I want food!" Lol when I get home from work, nauseous. My point is I get nauseous when I haven't eaten. Or if I try to have water instead of food. We're all different though -MM -
So I forgot to refill my heartburn pills and was off of them for almost a week - HUGE mistake. I'm back on them now but my question is, when were y'all able to stop taking them? Thanks! -MM
