  1. For us, it was less than a week and carefully. -MM
  2. Had my sleeve on the 23rd, spent that night in the hospital while they figured out my nausea meds (it was a looooong night). Felt great Thursday so they let me come home. Slept a ton Thursday night and Friday. Having a hard time taking nausea meds or pain meds as both make me very nauseous. Woke up at 9 today and couldn't possibly sleep anymore. So I did some dishes and some vacuuming and made up my bed. I can't bend over so I'm limited it what I can do but I'm feeling better :-) I go back to work on Monday so today and tomorrow are my getting back into it days. Also struggling with fluids. Drinking water and broth and mixing unflavored protein with lemon water. I feel like I'm not even getting close to the amount of liquids I need. How's everyone else doing? -MM

    Hospital Stay Question

They told me 3-4 days but I was released after one (awful) night. I had great support at home so that helped a lot. I pretty much slept the whole first night an day I was home. Slept another 12 hours last night and finally feel like getting up and moving around today. My biggest issue was with nausea. -MM

    Is it gas?

I was sleeve yesterday too but no soft doffs jut clear liquids for a week. I am super gassy, lots of burping! But I find that putting my arms over my head and stretching in as many ways as I am comfortable helps so much. Good luck! We're sleeve day sisters :-) -MM

    April 23- Sleevers

I found that pulling my shoulders back and putting my arms over my head and stretching the entire upper part of my body helped me burp up those gas pains. I was so so nauseous last night! Finally the switched to a different med and now I feel great ! I'm very tired because I was up almost all night but other than that, I'm finally excited about all of this. The worst is behind us! -MM

    April 23- Sleevers

My surgery was at 1 yesterday and yesterday and last night were rough for me. Gas pains in my chest (I found that putting my arms over my head and arching my back in bed helped with those a lot). I burped and burped and burped. The worst me was the nausea. They tried three differed meds before the last one worked. I've had a few small sips of broth and ice chips. I'm so happy to not be nauseated anymore!! -MM

It's today! I have to be at the hospital in 3 hours, surgery scheduled for noon. I'm equal parts nervous and excited! -MM
  10. My surgery is tomorrow. I've told my job I'm having my gallbladder out as the surgery and recovery time are similar. I work with two men in my office area and about 75 ppl in the building. I said I was going on a diet when I started my preop. The guys in my office haven't mentioned it but a few women in the building have when I've turned down birthday cake. I'm engaged so I have a good excuse for a dramatic weight loss. -MM

    Tomorrow!

It's normal for me too. I have days where I'm excited and days where I'm disappointed in myself and days where I'm scared of the surgery and of the life changes. It's a big deal. My surgery is tomorrow and I feel like I'm just manning up at this point. It's like I'm signing a contract to be on a permanent diet and permanent anything is a little scary. --MM

I can't believe how fast it went by!! This weekend has been rough for sticking to the preop diet for me. Lots of cooking for my family, lots of Easter goodies!! -MM
  16. Jason, I'm with you! I eat only organic food prepared in my home. I never eat fast food, don't consume any fake sugars, I also don't eat red meat or chicken and rarely have dairy. So the protein shakes are weird for me. It's like they gave everyone the same generic diet without taking their lifestyles into consideration. I met with my NUT on 4/7 and cut carbs and sugar... Basically lots of protein and some veggies until 4/13 when the pre-op diet of two shakes and a small dinner of lean protein and veggie started. I've lost 8 pounds and have not cheated. In my preop meeting with my dr he was talking about having sf jello and sf Popsicles and I told him I had no interest in putting that crap in my system and that I don't even like the taste of fake sugars and he just told me that your tastes change post op :-/ I figure it's two months of doing what I'm told before I can eat reg food again and when I can, it will be good wholesome organic food and I won't have to have all of this chemical crap anymore. -MM
  17. Had my preop appt yesterday and reviewed all of my labs, was so so happy that everything was good! Even my cholesterol was good! And I've lost 6.5lbs since the 7th :-) I'm on day 5 of protein shakes and dinner and last night was the first night it was kind of hard. I just wanted to EAT! Lol I didn't! Just had my salmon and broccoli and water water water :-) I agree with the other poster that shakes and carb cut back are good prep for the seriously reduced amount of postop calories. Adjusting to it now can only help afterwards. -MM
  18. @ I bought mine at walmart... Just the whey protein chocolate flavor for like $16... I also ordered Click decaf protein powder on amazon so I could have coffee in the morning...
  19. I got my approval 3 days after submission :-) they sent me a list of what I needed which I gave to my surgeons office and they submitted everything :-) good luck!

I am cooking for my family too... There are six of us. I made muffins Saturday and Mac and cheese from scratch Sunday. I didn't have any of either but I would have liked too. I have to keep telling myself: you chose this. -MM
  21. I started my protein shakes today. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be (of course it's just one day lol)... Having shrimp and veggie curry for dinner. I bought a shaker cup and a personal blender to take to work tomorrow for my protein shake (& some almond and coconut milk as I don't drink reg milk)... I'm certainly nervous and also excited because I've been waiting my whole life to finally have this kind of control over my body, I'm super grateful for this tool. -MM

    April 23- Sleevers

Hi! My surgery is scheduled for the 23rd too! I just found out yesterday. I start my pre-op diet Monday... two shakes, one meal every day. I'm excited and nervous. Mostly because I know this is going to be a drastic lifestyle change!
  23. @@msshellg I'm so glad to see someone else planning to go back to work right away. My nutritionist said she has had several people who do which is exciting for me. I am not planning to tell my co-workers that I have had sleeve surgery... they think I am having my gallbladder removed. (I'm pretty new there and not really comfortable with that level of disclosure yet.) Which Protein powder are you using for your pre-op diet? I'm hopping for mine tomorrow :-) ~MM
  24. Hi, I'm brand new here... Been lurking and reading topics for the last few days... I was approved last week for the sleeve surgery and we scheduled it for 4/23 yesterday. I'm supposed to start pre-op diet Monday of 2 shakes and a meal of lean protein and veggies... I'm a little nervous about the recovery as I am planning to go back to work the Monday post surgery (desk job)... Other than that I'm cautiously excited :-) -MM
