There are several different Protein Shakes on the Market! I've tried several of them. I like the Premier Protin shakes from Costco, they have 30 mg of protein in one shake. I can only tolerate 2-3 ozs at a time! Sip, sip, sip! I also like the Z-pro 25. They have 25 mg of protein in them...I add a 1/2 a cup of skim milk to 1/2 the chocolate powder & put it in the bullet. Makes for a great treat. I add 2-3 ice cubes & it tastes like chocolate ice cream. Your diaticion will help you with regard to foods. I have a very sensitive pouch & one day food agrees with me & the next day not so much! I'm 2 months out of surgery & it's a learning process for me! Your taste buds change from day to day! I'm hanging in there & I know that I'm in what they call the honeymoon phase of surgery. Nothing tastes or looks good. They say that will pass too! I'm also going they the non sleeping phase! So I keep busy doing things. Crafts, knitting, sewing, reading, & cleaning. Good luck with your surgery! Keep in touch! I'm praying for you!

Everyone looses at a different rate! I loose inches or weight! Plus I only weigh once a month! There are ups and downs. I also measured myself...neck, arms, etc! My clothes are loose fitting! I had a rough 1st month after surgery. I couldn't tolerate a lot of foods. I can't handle sugar free anything, and was sick till I worked with a great dietician!

Beaumont Doctors & Staff were amazing! I highly recommend Dr. Krause! It took approximately a month from the initial visit with the surgeon. Once all the paper work & tests were completed it was roughly a month! I wanted to loose as much weight prior to surgery. 4 months post op & I'm down 31 lbs.

I had my surgery a month ago @ Beaumont Hospital. I wasn't a pop drinker but I started protein shakes six months before my surgery. The week before surgery was a little rough but I drank a lot of water. I had cravings after surgery but I'm not ever hungry! I hVe to eat by a clock!

Unfortunately I've been gaining & loosing weight for over a year! It's hard to keep it off! My Doctor & I came to the conclusion it would be the best thing to have the Sleeve surgery! It's the best of all of the Bariatric surgeries!

Not telling my family! I don't see them very often! They live in California. I have two older brothers there. One lives on a ranch in the mountains & the other is a retired teacher/writer. We were never close. My sister passed away in 1995 & my father passed away in 1996 & my Mother passed away in 2003. I took care of her till she died. I was her caregiver. I have cousins in PA. That are in the medical field. I just decided to not tell too many people! Everyone knew I'd been loosing weight! I can do this, & so can you!

If you are interested in the classes I'm going to...look up Dr.Tom Rifai @ St.Joseph's Hospital in Pontiac, Mi! He helped me so much! I started with him at over 450 lbs. I'm still at 299 lbs & still have a ways to go but I stalled in my weight loss! That is why I want & need the surgery! It!s a tool to help! Oh, I have had doubts but I'm doing the surgery for me!

I don't have family in Michigan. I've only told 1 friend...a coworker that is going to stay with me. She & my Nutrician Doctor support me and the surgery all the way! He is the Doc that has all the heathy classes. Everyone that has had the sleeve is very happy they did it! There is a blog from a gal called The Hot Mess Princess! She has lost over 80 lbs in 8 months! She posted pics & is doing great! She said she went back & forth & finally decided to go for it! I knew her when she first started blogging!

You have a good surgeon! Everyone goes back and forth with their decisions! I keep doing it & my surgery is in 14 days. Do you have support from family & friends?
-
I signed up for Nutrician Healthy cooking classes, Ask the Doc, Dietitian, and learning label reading & group, learn how to shop with a Nutrician Doctor, monthly guest psychologist & 6 months of exercise classes with a program with a physical therapist at St Joe's Hospital. I just wondered how Beaumont's program worked.

Is it open to patients of Dr Krause?
-
No, I was at another hospital, my Doctor referred me to Dr Krause. I'm thinking of doing the support group after surgery at Beaumont!
-
Good luck Fast Freddy! We are all going to do great! Did you go thru the program at Beaumont Hospital?
-
Thank you! I have the utmost confidence in him! I met with other surgeons & finally chose Dr Krause!

I'm ready! Still don't have a date for my surgery! Waiting on insurance approval. Thought surgery would be in June! Fingers crossed. All tests have been completed. This waiting is driving me crazy!

He did my best friends surgery! I should know a date within 2 weeks. We'll have to keep in touch and keep up on our journeys!

I have zero support from my family or friends for surgery! I'm still trying to think whom to ask to drive me & pick me up from the hospital. Everyone tells me I'm going to die, don't do the surgery. Help! I need some advice!

I'm in June too! I'm also very scared!
