I tried the wellese liquid vitamins before surgery they were fine after, I can't keep them down. The chewables were more tolerable.

In two days I will be 3months out of surgery and all the sudden I'm hungry all the time. I feel like I could eat a full meal, when only last week 3 bites of chicken made my stomach hurt. What happened?? How do I fix this??
-
I was only allowed 3protein shakes a day and if I was really starving I could add a banana to one. I lost 20lbs before my surgery. It was hard the first 4days then I really didn't miss food.

Question...what has been the hardest thing to deal with post op?
starspring replied to swtpea637's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The hardest part for me was the first month. The vomiting and nausea from the anesthesia and I had spasms that were awful. I hated drinking because it felt like my tummy was attacking it. I also couldn't tolerate my protein shakes until month two, something about the milk. Would I do it again? Hell yeah I'm out of the 200's and haven't felt this good in years! -

Where's up here? I'm in NY and Hood milk is in my small stores, like local deli's. Good luck! -
As a Eucharistic minister do not I repeat do not hold it in your mouth until you get back to the pew and "munch" on it. Speak to your priest, or Monsignor about your specific situation, allow him to guide you, there are many with swallowing issues that can only tolerate the blood and those with specific personal issues that can only receive the body. Please don't feel your entire spiritual experience is related to communion, you'll get there, be kind to yourself. God bless.

Who eats McDonalds post op?
starspring replied to mi75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was on my 2week pre-op I was hangry! Hungy/angry that evrry other tv commercial was for food. I was second guessing my decision because I had a serious sweet tooth. I do believe I was detoxing because after my surgery I no longer crave candy cake cookies or fast food and my skinny sons eat it all the time! I am still shocked that bread doesn't appeal to me. I love it! Good luck! -
going to the bathroom after surgery
starspring replied to roosmommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use the Syntrax matrix peanut butter cookie not too sweet and not too thick, I mix it with milkfor the extra protein and calories since I do not eat much at "meals". I had a really hard time in the beginning and was only able to start shakes after one month post surgery. I also like the Atkins pre made shakes for when Im on the go. $5 something for 4 at walmart not too sweet and none of that artificial sweetner taste I can't tolerate since my surgery! -
going to the bathroom after surgery

I agree the bariatric advantage gave me terrible gas and diarrhea and the unjury I thought were gross and too sweet. It took me a long time to find the right fit! -

Is it just me or does anyone else think it's a conflict of interest for a dr to be selling supplements and insisting you purchase them? Not cool. -
Busy bee did you have a hernia repair? If so they may have stitched it too tight which can be corrected endoscopicly. Talk to your surgeon.

Hi all, This has not been an easy journey for me. I was sleeved on 4/23/14 and suffered from cramps, spasms and vomiting in the beginning. That changed to no energy and irritability and semi depression. I am still not getting in all my protein, the shakes are all too sweet, and struggle to stay hydrated. I was just finally able to start my vitamins on Friday. To top it all off, I'm not losing weight. Ive lost 30lbs since I started the pre-op. I am so discouraged and disappointed I just don't know what to do.
-
I am not allowd to swallow a pill yet per my surgeon. As for the liquid I vomut them right back up. I was just able to keep down the chewables Friday. My dr keeps telling me I'll feel a little better every day, when I expressed my concern about the shakes and staying hydrated the answer I got was....we ALL do. I guess I won't be asking anymore questions here either.

I lost 20 lbs before my surgery. So, it's only 10lbs in a month and a half.

Questions about diet after surgery...
starspring replied to LessofApril's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a huge sweet tooth pre surgery, probably why I was overweight! I often joke that they pulled it during the surgery. I find the protein shakes and yogurt too sweet and I have no desire for cake, cookies or candy. Salt on the otherhand I constantly crave...weird! -
Multi Vitamin Question
starspring replied to erlo54's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I received samples of liquid and chewable vitamins from my NUT and the liquid were far better than the chewable. However, after surgery they made me vomit. So please don't over buy, you can request free samples of the liquid from wellese, or google free sample bariatric vitamins. Im just now able to eat Flinstones and the chewable calcium from bariatric advantage without feeling sick my surgery was 4/23. Good luck! -
I'm hoping for some advice or suggestions, even encouragement. I was sleeved on 4/23 and recovery has been a very slow go. I know I'm not getting my Protein in, I have a hard enough time with my fluids. My Vitamins, liquid or chewable come right back up. I don't sleep all night, I'm up in 4 hours. So...im tired, hungry, lethargic and no fun to be around. I feel like this was a huge mistake, one which I cannot correct. I don't know what to do. How much longer, if ever before I feel better? Thanks for listening to my rant!
-
Thank you all for your encouragement, advice and shared experience. I am concentating on staying hydrated and I ordered the unjury broth as well as the protein shake. Hopefully that will help. One day at a time, right? I am blessed to have your responses and will keep you posted

Thanks Melle!

Just had surgery on Wednesday and am home. This morning I was vomiting violently. Does anyone know how to avoid that from now on?

Thank you all. My surgeon said it's from the anesthesia. I just wish it would pass soon.

looking for suggestions for protein shakes post up
starspring replied to starspring's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for your suggestions. I bought the Nectar sample pack and a tub of the unflavored to add to clear things, it's when I move to protein mixed with milk I'm nervous about. I think I'll order some samples and go from there! -
