  1. Great information in this thread and an invaluable reference. Hopefully I won't have too much to add post-op thanks to this!

    Things I won't miss...

I have to say this is my favorite thread on the forum right now. I keep reading updates daily to remind me exactly why it's all worth it and to keep me focused and mindful that this is the most worthwhile commitment i will ever make. I really appreciate everyone sharing and being so candid. Today's Thing I won't miss: paying other people to do stuff I could do if I were fit - Washing cars, mowing lawns, pool care, home repairs.

    Dallas, Texas Sleevers! !

Hello Dallasites. I'm in Carrollton scheduled for May 12 with Dr. Veninga. Glad I found you all. Nice to chat with the "locals".

    Is it normal?

I was very much undecided. I want to lose the weight but at what cost? I have minor anxieties about whether I can stick to such a minimal post-op diet.I don't worry so much about surgical complications but more about long term success. I too am new here. The more I read here and learn what real people have, and are, experiencing, the less nervous I become. There is so much information here. Keep reading and asking questions and maybe like me, you'll be able to feel good about your decision either way. Best of luck!

    Things I won't miss...

Along with everything others have noted (all great and relevant things I won't miss) I particularly won't miss the looks of disdain and or sympathy. And I won't miss the tight squeeze in both of my vehicles.
  6. All kinds of stuff with my kids and wife I haven't been able to enjoy for years. Camping, fishing, basketball, walking through museums, maybe even Six Flags, get back to woodworking and improve my skills. And some things I haven't really enjoyed for years with just my wife....

    May 2014 Sleevers

Best of luck to you. I'm the 12th also.. In between now and then I have a sleep study Friday, a 'PFT' (some kind of breathing test) Monday, meeting with my surgeon's office to pick up pre and post-op packets Monday, and a meeting with pulmonologist to go over to pft test results the following Monday...and finally ... Surgery the following Monday. Personally getting excited but a little nervous about the first 2 weeks of pre-op diet and going 'foodless'.
  9. Personally I'm not advertising, but I'm not withholding either. I've told boss, a few trusted co-workers (and I really don't give two shats about what they think - but they sounded supportive), and family. I'm posting it on our off-time work calendar as 'out of office' with no other explanation for the week. So far everyone that I've told has been happy and hopeful. They know I've been in serious joint pain and would like to see me more active and overall healthier. My $.02

    May 2014 Sleevers

I got the same letter from BCBS. I was going to call surgeon's office just to check, but I kind of figured it was like skellertx says. The default is 1 day.

    May 2014 Sleevers

Hi Susan - I'm a May 12-er also. Good luck, from Dallas area. Just had a pre-surgery pulmonary appointment. That spawned two more appointments....*sigh*....1 - A sleep study and 2 - some further breathing testing. At least with all of the pre-op checks I feel like I will have been evaluated well prior to heading into surgery.

    May 2014 Sleevers

Hello all, I'm a noob to the forum and glad I found it. I just got approval and I'm scheduled May 12. Excited and a little overwhelmed. Reading the pre and post op forums now and it's helping me understand and set expectations. Best of luck to all.
