    Hungry

I remember those days in the beginning. I was convinced that he really didnt take any stomach out! Its hard to feel full on just liquids. I promise you'll feel your resistance once you are on solids. Just keep following the instructions!
  2. So I had VSG back in August and Im down 50 pounds. Im VERY happy with my loss but I havent lossed an ounce in almost 4 weeks. Im getting worried that this is it for me. AND im really worried that I can eat so much already. I went to my surgeon for a check up last week and she was happy with my progress and shrugged off my concern saying that I should be able to eat more now.. its normal.. .my weight loss is great... etc. But then she said that at 5 months out, I should be eating about 800 calories. WHAT? I know Im eating more than that...more like 1000-1200. I just cant see how to only get 800 calories in while reaching my Protein goals and eating more than rice cakes. I eat a lot of salads with chicken (can eat about half of a grilled chicken salad at El Pollo loco), Protein drinks, lean meats (3oz) and veggies, etc. I also work out 2-3 times a week (so far...) and see a personal trainer. Im starting to think that Im not going to lose anymore. Has anyone else stalled at this point? How long did that last? This is were I have always stopped losing, then I get discouraged and I gain it all back and then some, obviously im panicking that Its going to happen again I can never get under the 200 mark.

    Miserable

oh boy I so feel your pain! Im 3 weeks out now and life is getting much better. 3 Weeks seems to be the magic time... you start to get your life back! That first week was so traumatizing for me. I cried and cried. Thought I ruined my life! But as soon as I was able to eat "real" things like refried Beans, oatmeal, etc, life got better. Last night I ate some sashimi from our favorite sushi place... sashimi is super soft and went down beautifully! I felt like I was on cloud nine! I ate 3 pieces and was stuffed! I still cant believe it. Also, that first week I never felt full or any restriction from my sleeve either. I was convinced that it wasnt working. But everyone assured me that I would feel it once real food came into play and sure enough, thats the truth. Yogurt is too much like a liquid and it just slides on thru... wait til you have some tuna or something like that, 1/4 cup and you're stuffed! its crazy!!

    A little worried.

I had small blood spots on my shirts for the first few days after the dressings came off my incisions. Its normal. The "scabs" or whatever were just leaking/creating the scab... your bodies way of healing itself. I wouldnt worry unless the site is red and inflamed looking. And, from my knowledge, if you feel relatively normal, you are probably just fine. A cough here and there with no leak symptoms afterward... well I wouldnt worry. Just remember, although leaks happen, its very very unlikely.
  5. Yeah, I thought it was a bit early Fortunately, I have had an easy recovering and my sleeve doesnt have an issue with much. I am having a hard time reaching my Protein goals because there is just not much I can have with the purees I thought trying this would help to reach my numbers. Well, so far so good with it so I think I'll keep eating them. Like I said, they are really soft and I chew each bite til its liquid so I don't know what harm they would be ?
  6. Im 3 weeks PO and I just need something else to eat other than refried Beans and other purees! lol I found Pure Protein bars (21g of Protein) and they are actually pretty soft (like brownies) and I tried one yesterday and chewed each bite until it was pretty much liquid. But, I was wondering when others started eating them? And, if you had any suggestions to other good tasting Protein Bars? Thanks
  7. I was sleeved on Aug 22nd and my scale hasnt moved in days. So, basically I dropped weight for the first 10 days and not anything since. Isnt this too early to be seeing a stall?? I was prepared for the 3rd week stall but thought I'd get 3 solid weeks of losses first Im feeling discouraged.
  8. Today was a really hard day. Im a teacher and this was my first week back at work. All of my coworkers went out to lunch and I went as well. They chose El Pollo Loco, ok not bad. Im only 2 weeks out so I got a small mashed potato (added some Protein powder). But watching them all eat the big salads or burritos and smelling the smells... oh my. I came home tonight and we were hanging out outside with my neighbors (we are all good friends) and they all were bringing their dinners out, Steak and salad, Thai take out, meatballs... omg. I was having a giant fit in my head. I went into my neighbors house and she made chocolate chip Cookies. I took one and ate half of it - chewed until practically liquid but I swallowed it. Half the cookie! I know in the grand scheme its not a big deal but now I feel like such a loser. I cant even make it 2 weeks after a SURGERY to not cheat!? To top it off, my scale hasnt moved in days and today is my 2 week post op. I feel like I suck at this.

    Let's Get Real

Wow, that sounds ridiculously strict! I am 2 weeks out and Im on pureed foods! By week 5/6 I will be on all foods. I cant wait for salad! I crave it so much! Im sorry you are still on liquids!
  10. Im almost 2 weeks out and I can only eat a few little bites of pureed meats and only a half of a scrambled egg... but yogurt? I can eat a full 4 oz no prob. (I eat slowly still, making it last about 25 min). same with thinned mashed potatoes. Is this normal? Can I eat that much of those things because they are thinner? I stop when I feel satisfied/done but thats at 4 oz or so. im worried that Im over eating! But I honeslty dont feel full or satisfied as quick as I do with eggs.
  11. Hello! I am almost 2 weeks post op and Im in the puree stage of foods. I need some ideas as Im already getting tired of what I have. I have mashed potatoes, refried Beans, cream Soups (all with added Protein powder). What did you eat during this stage?

    August Sleevers Check In

Congrats to all that have been sleeved this week! I was sleeved on the 22nd (last friday) and today was a good day! Minimal incision pain. I still find it hard to drink enough water, everytime I drink it I feel like a gas bubble goes with it. I hope that passes. I miss drinking a lot of water. What is everyone 1 - 2 weeks out eating? List all that you can. I need a grocery list. ha! no but really, I wanna see what everyones doctors are telling us. ie, can you have instant oatmeal? can you have tuna? etc... I see my Dr tomorrow and get advanced to the next stage of purees so Im curious. (Im one week out now)
  13. ok, well I bit the bullet and just used a straw and i'm already drinking more Water and it doesnt feel any different!
  14. So im a few days post op and am having a hard time getting all my fluids in. Before the sleeve, I basically ONLY drank from a straw. I have a million reusable cups with straws in my house and always used to drink tons of liquids. Now, im struggling to get 24 oz of Water in! So, Im wondering if I should try using a straw and see if it helps. But Im afraid its going to give me gas and therefor hurt! I dont want anymore pain! lol So, if you use a straw, when did you cave and try it? Should I just go for it or be a good patient and not use it?
  15. Hey all, I was just sleeved on Friday and I feel like garbage. Im tired constantly, cant get my fluids in (have gotten about 24 oz of Water a day) and only maybe 20 g of Protein. Anything more and I want to puke. I also had a Haital Hernia repair and I think thats whats causing this bad pain in my chest. That is the most annoying thing. That hurts everytime I swallow. I want so badly to be the good patient and do what Im told but I feel so awful right now and dont care if I get protein in. Ok I do care but I just feel so emotional about it. Speaking of emotional, I feel like Im on the verge of tears constantly. Is all of this normal? Im so unhappy right now and wish get in my fluids and protein and be happy with this but Im not I need some cheering up, any stories of similar tantrums and how you came out golden on the other side?? Sorry for the pity party, I just dont have anyone to vent to right now!
