FINALLY moving forward!
April206 replied to Mommabird's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So exciting -
Yippee! My pre-op is tomorrow and surgery date will be set then. We could be buddies!

Sounds like cystic acne. Mine was caused by too much testosterone. Taking maximum dose of spironolactone has cured it. While it is a Water pill, it also blocks excess testosterone production. Who knew? lol

My surgery is tomorrow

It might help to actually write down WHY you're doing this. Examples: I want to live longer, I want to shop in the "regular" section at clothing stores, etc. Write down as many reasons as you can - I'll bet it's a bunch! Your reasons should outweigh (no pun intended) your fears. -
Awesome! I also got teary when I heard insurance approved. Good luck to you!
-
Congrats!

I'm still pre-op and have only told my husband. I just don't want to hear all the second-guessing and unsolicited advice before surgery. When I'm post-op, I don't care who knows!

OH MY GOD MY SURGERY WAS APPROVED!
April206 replied to V.V.V.'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats! Got my approval last week and almost cried. I had completed the 6 month supervised but it was several years ago - insurance accepted it. Here's to seeing less of each other! -
Welcome! I'm new too - still in pre-op stage but will have surgery within a month. There are so many experienced people on here with a ton of knowledge. Checking out the forums will likely answer most of your questions. Good luck on your weight loss journey

Just got the call 5 minutes ago that insurance said "YES"! Forgive the exclamation points, but I'm so excited! I hope you all receive the same great news very soon.

Experiences with Phentermine?
April206 replied to RellaBelle's topic in GLP-1 & Other Weight Loss Medications (NEW!)
I took it several years ago and lost 40 lbs. in 2 months. When I quit taking it, I gained it all back plus an additional 45 lbs. Side effects weren't too bad, just a feeling of being on edge sometimes. Definitely gives you lots of energy, because it's an amphetimine (an "upper"). -
Pre Operative Educational Workshops
April206 replied to oweemytoe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, the program I'm in required 4 weekly "healthy lifestyle" classes and 4 "know your bypass" classes. I learned a ton of helpful info, plus made some friends along the way. We did 1 new step for success each week. One week it was simply writing down absolutely everything we ate or drank. Another week we worked on physical activity or meal planning or whatever. -
A little less than 2 weeks. I had jumped through all the hoops properly!
-
Awesome! Keep us posted as to how you're doing!

@@LadyDiva618 LOL! You are tooooo funny Yes, he is very easy on the eyes!

Absolutely, we are all human and make mistakes. This mistake just happens to be a deal breaker for me. This is an issue of trust and I no longer trust this man with my body and my life.

Am in the process of getting changed to his partner. I'm sure his license and hospital privleges will be suspended at the very least, so it's a no-brainer! If I was nervous before, I'm terrified now

New guy here, you've GOT to read this!
April206 replied to BigFrank's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello, (notso)BigFrank. After reading all 28 pages of your awesome post, I wanted to congratulate you on your successful journey and thank you for all the advice and encouragement. I am still in in pre-op stage and you've eased my mind about several concerns I had. You mentioned that you had very poor support before and after surgery. I live in Wichita, Kansas and there is only one program available here but it's excellent. It includes a free orientation seminar, but also REQUIRES 8 hours of healthy lifestyle classes (over 4 weeks) and then 8 hours of pre-op educational classes (also over 4 weeks). Plus, there is a weekly post-op class that is absolutely FREE for as long as you want to attend. They keep saying the surgery is only a tool and that all this education is vital and I do believe they are right! I hope it only adds to my successful journey Thanks again and hope to see you on here again! -
Hi there! I'm in Wichita and just joined here last week. Haven't seen many Kansans here. Where are you in your weight loss journey?
