Can NOT decide between the VSG and RNY! How did you choose
Goonie replied to iamdeannadixon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck to you in whichever surgery you choose! I was originally thinking lapband as it's reversible. BUT, everyone I met with discouraged it...and quite frankly, I didn't want another surgery so having it fail & then going through a revision did not appeal to me (weird, right ). I had a vsg simply because I was worried about malabsorption issues....I know my bones aren't the strongest and don't want them turning to dust any earlier than they already will....yes, that grossly over exaggerated but pretty much my luck -
Pre surgery I'd look at these lovely berries & think of all the delicious items I could bake...post surgery, I look at all these berries & think "woo hoo, natures laxatives"

Pre surgery vs post surgery

Berries I was referring to are now my profile pic as I couldn't figure out how to load without flash -
Lovely! Congrats on reaching your goal!

I've used premier, designer whey & nectar..I very easily could be drinking them too fast....as it seems I always want to get the protein out of the way Thanks for the tip...I'll slow down today & see if I can tolerate it!

About a week ago I became extremely nauseous after drinking my protein shakes...I thought maybe it was drinking the shakes on an empty stomach so I tried taking them at different times of the day & there was no difference. Now I'm having the same reaction to protein bars. I don't seem to have an issue with protein in meat or dairy...what up, protein?!? Anyone else experience this?

Today is ten weeks...shocking how quickly the time has passed...especially because I thought the first week would never end

Hate to brag, but I'm so advanced ;)
Goonie replied to Goonie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for the msm & revita suggestions...at the rate I'm going I can envision myself as a Sasquatch with a bald head...hopefully I'll at least be a slender Sasquatch And yes, I'm totally counting hair loss as weight loss Thanks to you all! -

Thanks for the advice...unfortunately biotin is doing nothing for me...of course it might be doing a little something, I could be completely bald without it, who knows? And, yes, it does suck as I have a sneaking suspicion that I will not be able to pull off the bald look...I'm pretty sure my scalp is nothing but lumps...gah! -
My nutritionist told me that I should be between 600-800 calories by 5 weeks...the most I've had is 712 & I keep my carbs under 30...but I'm not losing an ounce & am getting quite grumpy (that's a much nicer word than what I really am) about it...grrr! Ive been the same weight for 3 weeks & to me it just seems to early to have such a stall.... Any suggestions? Anybody else stall this early for this long? I'm really frustrated & just a few steps away from a pantry that contains an open bag of golden Oreos...(I just proofread my own post...that last part sounds like a wls patients equivalent of jumping off a bridge...dieting suicide, not dramatic at all)

Calorie intake @ 6 weeks post op?
Goonie replied to Goonie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you so much, Odesa! I do need the reminder that it's a marathon not a sprint...but couldn't it be a half marathon? Great suggestions...I'll try to stick around 400 calories the next few days & then bump it back up on Thursday...fingers crossed that my weight is affected & my logic returns...I appreciate your advice! -
Mmmm, sounds yummy! That's probably not what I'm supposed to say, right? Hope your craving passes quickly

Has anyone been prescribed amoxicillin shortly after having the sleeve? Just curious about the side effects...to be honest I wouldn't mind diarrhea about now but am kind of scared of the cramping & wondering about dehydration....good times

Amoxicillin at 10 days post op?
Goonie replied to Goonie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, I've had it before & have experienced their side effects (yeast included) . I'm trying to eat yogurt but can't get much down. I wasn't sure if it had any other issues since you're supposed to take it after eating...which I can't really do. Normally I get a scrip for diflucan with amoxicillin but the dr didn't think it would be good for me this early out. I got the scrip because of bronchitis...which is a ton of fun this early . And seeing your name is PDXman you know that I'm missing out on all this fabulous weather.... -
Seriously, 7 days post op & I finally feel the urge but, nada! I apologize for the topic but figured if I couldn't talk about it here where could a girl go? Any suggestions? I've tried MOM... Thanks!

Dulcolax...thank you! I had 2 c sections & thought I'd figured that out...I was wrong
-
Oh no! I'm sorry! Today was the first day I could get it down...that being said it was only 6 oz. sorry it makes you sick. .
-
I'm also 3 days out & have very little pain...however I'm big time suffering from being nauseated....I can't get much fluid in either...mixing my premier protein shake with milk has been helping & g2 is way better (for me) than water. Good luck to you!

Oh my! Anyone else struggling/starving on this lovely Easter Day? Everyone is downstairs feasting & I'm hiding upstairs pretending to have a headache cause the family doesn't know about surgery tomorrow. So my question is...with just the right amount of butter could mashed potatoes be considered a liquid??? (J/k, kinda)

Surgery tomorrow & the most amazing scents are happening downstairs!

Good luck to you all...hopefully you get a good nights rest!
