Andie - I had the patch behind my ear. Before I went into surgery I told the nurse that I had a problem with nausea. They gave me some nausea medicine, put the patch behind my ear and gave me some zantac. Good luck to you !!!
-
Kristin - Thanks! I hope all goes well with your stress test.
-
Longhorn - I asked my doctor Tuesday if he could call in something earlier and he said that he could not call in any pain medicine when I didn't need it yet. Oh well, it will be her shortly. I will be off to la la land when I take it. Andi - Thanks for all your kind words and support. I will keep everyone posted on my progress!
-
I didn't have to do this. I guess every doctor is differnt.

Thanks Andi! I got one shot of Heparin in my stomach right before surgery. It was a small needel and hardly no sting at all so it shouldn't be to bad that you have to give them to yourself. The incision by the port is really starting to hurt. My hubby just left to get my pain medication so I am looking forward to my liquid vicodine and some more rest!

Hey Everyone! I am home and feeling really good! I got to the hospital for 7:30 and was in the operating room around 9:30. The surgery took about an hour. I also had a hiatal hernia which my surgeon repaired. After I woke up I am was feeling pretty rough and felt relly nauseated so the nurse gave me some demerol and Phenergan. That knocked me out for about an hour and when I woke up I felt much better. I had to sip 4-6 little cups of liquid, get up and walk around the hospital and use the bathroom before I was able to come home. I did all of that within an hour and a half and was ready to come home. So far I am feeling really good. Just some soreness which of course is to be expected. I am waiting on my pain medication to be filled so I am not really tired right now. So, all and all the surgery was not bad at all. Now, here comes the rough part. If any of you have any question feel free to ask. Longhorn - I am glad to hear that everthing went well! We are going to have to keep in touch and compare results. Vanessa

nessa3678 replied to nessa3678's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone for all your best wishes and good luck to everyone else being banded tomorrow as well! Sue - I totally forgot about the gauze pads. I even told my hubby that I wanted to buy some and forgot. I guess he will be making a run to the store for me tomorrow. Oh, and I do have a whole box of sugar free popsicles! -
Being Banded Tomorrow!
nessa3678 replied to nessa3678's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks a bunch everyone! I didn't think about the pillow for the car. I do have a heating pad at home. What will the heating pad help? Patty - Good Luck to you tomorrow as well! My surgery is for 9:30. Thankfully my husband will be home with me until Monday so that will help out a lot. My mother and cousin are taking turns with my 2 year old daughter until Saturday. I am going to miss her so much but she is one of the main reasons I am having the surgery to begin with. Anyway, hope all goes well and hope to hear from you as soon as you are up to it. -
Thanks to everyone! I am so glad to have so much support from friends, family and all of you here! My headache is getting a little better. I ate a sugar free jello this morning and am now driking a protein water. I am going to GNC at lunch to buy the protein powder for my drinks. Have any of you bought any powder from GNC? Just wondering what is good and what isn't. Oh and also........ HAPPY HALLOWEEN

I have a splitting headache!!! My doctor said that I only had to drink clear liquids the day before surgery but I decided to start today. Now, because of no food, I have a really bad headache! Oh well, I am hoping when I wake up tomorrow it is gone. Surgery in less than two days!!!!
-
I will try to post Thursday evening to let you all know everything! My surgery is for 9:30am.

I know what you guys are talking about. My insurance is covering my lap band but only as out of network. I have to pay my doctor $2000.00 and 10% of the hospital fees. I am not sure what the hospital fees will wind up being but tomorrow is my pre op appointment with my doctor and i will have to pay the remainder of the money, $1500.00 to be exact. I think that is when it's really going to set in that in 2 days I will be banded!!!! I have just started second guessing this but won't dare tell any of my family or friends. I know it's normal to second guess but I just can't stop thinking about being a failer at it. I am determined to do everything in my power not to be but I know in some cases it just doesn't work out. I sure hope and pray that I am not one of them.

So, I have a question for anyone who can answer. How many gramns of protein are you supposed to have in one day? I guess this is something I sould have asked my doctor but it just slipped my mind. I'm just trying to figure out what is to less and what is to much.

I just looked at your ticker and it says 4 days to go. I can't beleive we are almost there! What is Prople and unjury? When I went to my training meeting they gave me a small list of foods and a chart that shows what I can try at what phase. I wont be meeting with the nutrionist until about a week after surgery.
-
I did my shopping today for all the liquids I will need for the next 2-3 weeks. Have any of you tried the Special K protein water? I picked up a few today and just got finished drinking one. It's not to bad and it has 5 grams of protein and 50 calories. I think they were $1.50 each at Wal-Mart. Have any of you begun shopping for the liquid phase? I got chicken and veggie broth, sugar free jello and pudding, light cranberry juice, protein water and protein powder. Can anyone think for anything else I may want to buy for this phase?

April - The nurse at my doctors office said that she has seen some doctors weigh right before surgery and if the patient had gained they would cancel surgery. My doctor isn't like that, Thank God! Good luck to you on your 5 lb weight loss by next week! wnt2lose - I know how you are feeling! I have to do all my shopping this weekend. I have a whole list of things needed. I also have to go and buy a new blender. I am going to buy the magic bullet. I've heard a bunch of people on here talk good about it.

7 days to go!!! I am getting really excited. A lot my friends and family are still suprised that I am doing this but they are very supportive.

Yesterday I had a two hour training meeting. It basically tought me all the in and outs of the whole procedure. While I was there the nurse suggested that I do start a high protien diet now before my surgery. I also found out that the day before, Halloween day, I can only have liquids. I got a list of everything I will need before and after the surgery so looks like I will be doing some shopping this weekend. Tomorrow I am having a surgery for a female problem and then next week is the lap band. sheesh!!!!
-
Awww...Jessica, I am so sorry to hear that. Can you get on a cancellation list? If you can, maybe someone will cancel and you can push your date up. Good Luck To You!!!!

April - I am going to a training meeting on Monday. There, I will learn what I will be eating after surgery. I went to my pre op today and they did an EKG because I've never had one and I was a smoker. I was congratulated several times for quiting smoking. That made me feel really good!
-
Okay everyone, I am getting so excited/nervous now! Tomorrow will begin my two week countdown. Everything went fine with the problem I thought I ran into yesterday so the first is still on! Tomorrow I am having my pre op at the hospital and then Monday I have a 2 hour teaching class at my doctors office to go over EVERYTHING. Wow! I can't believe it's happening so soon!!!
-
Thanks Dianne! I am doing very well with not smoking. I know I can quit once I put my mind to it. As soon as I found out I was pregnant I stopped and never took one puff the whole time. Of course, a few months after having my daughter I started right back up. This time will be different! I will NEVER touch another. Congrats to you for staying smoke free for so long!!!

This just wonderful! I just got a call from the surgery center and the nurse said when I had 7 tubes of blood taken from me they forgot to test my stomach for some kind of bacteria. The nurse said I need to go give more blood tomorrow and cross my fingers that I don't have the bacteria. If I do then I need to get on antibiotics and it may postpone my surgery! I am soooo freaking ticked now. I had all my blood work done about 4 weeks ago. If they would have tested what they were supposed to then I would be good to go! Keeping my fingers crossed that I don't have this bacteria in my stomach!
