It does irk me. But I don't let it bother me. The ones that 3 weeks post op want to eat everything they had before and of course when it fails they blame everyone or everything but themselves. That's the part that irks me. I don't think it's really judging if they put it out there that their wls failed but oh wait they ate a gallon of ice cream and half of that pie just to see if they could. But I just stop reading those and stick to the success and plastic surgery stories cause that's what I want during this ride. I love waking up and weighing in each morning, and even at only 26 pounds down the joys of shopping! That beats some desire for sugar or sweets that I used to have. Most of us went through too much to even get the surgery, why even want to waste these amazing tools?

Would you be happy stopping at one piece though? Lack of size control with sweets is what got most of us to the point of wls. I'm actually afraid to try sweets again not because of dumping but because I won't want to stop. And the bypass got my diabetes in remission and I don't ever want to go back there again.

California Vacation in six days!
volkitteh replied to terry1118's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
From my weather app it'll be a cool weekend (only near 70 haha) but then 80s starting Monday. And I am along the coast so it's usually warmer inland. So light jacket and mix of shorts/jeans and you're good to go! Swimsuit definitely for the beach! Get your feet wet and sandy! -
Any Band converters under........
volkitteh replied to reshiapooh96's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I cant say I was under 220 before the band to bypass revision but I am diabetic, or I was and if you are, its really the way to go I believe. I am 3.5 weeks out and I am 23 pounds down. My diabetes has gone into remission since 2 days after my surgery. and if you are worried about losing too much, you're in control of your caloric input really. good luck and look forward to insulin free days! -
Wow amazing. An inspiration for sure. I'm 3.5 weeks out and only down 21. I hope at 2 months I am close to your success! Congrats and keep it up!

Gastric Bypass 9 years on.
volkitteh replied to mytime1234's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm sorry you had a bad experience but that doesn't mean the surgery is wrong. Researching the doctor and hospital where it's being performed is key to avoiding problems and no surgery is exempt from possible things going wrong. Even if I never reach size 2 or some other dream weight, my diabetes is already gone and if I fail it will be my fault for falling off the rules. And I think in the past decade a lot better techniques have been developed. Sorry yours didn't work out but there are so many more success stories, and if your health is failing as many of ours is, it's worth the low risk of something going wrong. -
scheduled for 4/29 and freaking out!

My fitness pal is an amazing app. It has tons of data on food and a daily log of it as well as logging your weight. And don't freak out. Just go slow and follow your dr's instructions. Use it as a reset to get away from sweets or other bad habits. -
California Vacation in six days!
volkitteh replied to terry1118's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I lived in San Diego when I was stationed on the USS Nimitz and you should go visit Coronado island and Balboa park at least and The Gaslamp district if you like a little partying. Hope you have a wonderful trip! -
Give your opinion to tell or not
volkitteh replied to New Me 787's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was out a week and a half. And I had band to bypass revision, with slight scarring problem from the band. And I went back to night classes 2 weeks after surgery. I haven't used pain meds since second night home. I was super protective of my wounds specially since I had a g tube from the revision. I would've gone mad with boredom if I had been kept at home for 4 weeks. -

I know when I got my return to work dr notice they just put abdominal surgery. You don't have to specify what type really tho I guess if they're nosy enough they can look up the dr. -

I am 3 weeks post surgery and in the beginning I protected the info like top secret, only my mom knew. Then I told anyone. My success will depend on me and it might show who your real friends are. Most that I know are just happy for me because my diabetes has been resolved, completely gone from the surgery. Maybe just tell who you're comfortable with, but there's going to be jealous types anyhow once you've reached your goal, just smile and go shopping for those smaller clothes if anyone says anything b*tchy. -
Gastric Bypass or Sleeve? Need feedback, please!
volkitteh replied to kpay10's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I went with the gastric bypass due to my diabetes. And it so far has worked to that affect. I am 3 weeks post op and have not had a single shot of insulin since 2 days post op. I had originally asked about band to sleeve revision but if you're diabetic, bypass is the way to go. If not it's probably a personal choice but any of these are just tools and we have to stick with them or they're all able to be defeated if the wrong habits return. -
How I survived Bariatric Surgery

Yes thank you for the wonderful article and for sharing those recipes. Going to try the hot chocolate first. Sounds like a yummy way to get much needed protein. I've got a few weeks before I'll try the chili. Will be a nice break from my soft fish tilapia but I'm loving that after 2 weeks of shakes. right now I start with a myolpex shake. Not the worst one I've tasted and it gives me 42g of protein right away. Wish they had more flavors! -
Not a comedian really, more drama but amazing talent I think, don't forget James Gandolfini. Lost way too soon to a heart attack and certainly not helped by his weight. I don't think his size hurt his attractiveness at all. Specially not with that grin. R.I.P. Very missed!

Just wanted to say hello. A bit on the quiet side so more likely to read than post but had band to bypass revision on the 27th of March. Already my diabetes is gone with no meds blood sugar levels are normal and I've lost 17 pounds(started 275). Feeling great, just can't wait to get my last drain out on the 21st. Just made it to soft foods \o/.

Good luck with your surgery! My diabetes was about 40 units daily but I wasn't a good diabetic. Probably should've been higher insulin intake. Luckily my body remembered how to make insulin and I've been diabetes free since 2 days post op. My highest sugar intake now is Greek yogurt and diluted apple juice. My biggest motivations are keeping the diabetes away and shopping. I'm on soft foods now so can't really graze but don't want to even test that habit again. This is a renewal for us, better to keep the old bad habits in the past.
