  1. I had my surgery about 5 years ago and now when I drink alcohol it seems like I go straight from tipsy to not feeling well. Anyone else feel that way?

    Thanks for the feedback everyone!

    I regret this surgery

I felt the same way after I got mine. I just kept thinking "what did I do?!" But I'm on 3 1/2 years post op and I'm so happy I did this. Every year I am able to eat something new and the stuff I can't eat I don't miss as much. I lost 90lbs and have kept it off! I have trouble with the protein and water too and some weeks are harder than others. Just keep trying cause honestly there's no going back.
  4. Is it possible that I can still be experiencing symptoms of dumping syndrome, days after eating the food in question?

    Dumping Syndrome

Nauseous and diarrhea after I eat or drink. It's been like this since Thursday night after I ate some food that was really rich

I think that's very common. When I came out of the drugs wore off after surgery I wanted to reverse time and have the surgery undone cause of the pain. But I'm so glad I did it! I'm more open to new experiences and meeting new people! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm about the same (5'3 and started at 230). To date I'm down about 90lbs down. Right after the surgery i started going to gym and working with a trainer. The excess skin wasn't too bad. Then I hurt my back and haven't been back to gym as regularly. I'd say about 5-10 lbs of my weight are from excess skin. My insurance won't cover the surgery and it would be like 12k out of my own pocket. I'm going back to the gym which will definitely help but there's always going to be some sagging. Just definitely stick with a gym routine so the flab can turn to muscle. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

@nyteacher125. Thank you. I'm not at my ultimate goal yet but that's life and as long as I'm a few pounds off I'm not sweating it. I am a resource so feel free to ask me (and I'm sure everyone else here) questions!! Good luck on getting a date set! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

@ Dr Roslin was very nice and explained everything so I could understand. His staff at Lenox hill was so nice and made sure I was doing well before they released me. I'm over 2 yrs post op now and am 149 (6 lbs up from my 143 goal). Let me know if you have any questions about the procedure or anything! It was really hard recovery and having to give up some foods but in the end I'm so glad I did it. Everyone says I'm like a new person, physically and with regards to my confidence! 11. Anyone have suggestions on real foods that don't make you feel like you've eat a pile of rocks? I'm about 3 months post op and down 45 lbs. I'm trying to eat real foods again but everything feels so heavy in my stomach. I'm currently on a business trip and basically haven't eaten in four days because I can't tolerate more then four bites of anything. Basically I just need someone to tell me it does get easier and it wasn't all a big mistake lol

    Incorporating "real" foods

Thanks everyone for the kind words and advice. Today is already feeling like it's going to be a good day
  13. Anyone have an incision that became infected (ie the belly button incision)?
  14. I had the laparoscopic sleeve surgery a week ago today. I started at 233lbs and am now 221lbs. I wasn't totally prepared for the post op pain so I had a few dark moments where I regretting having the surgery at all. Walking really does help and now I can lay on my side again with minimum discomfort. Going back to work tomorrow and kind of nervous about being up for a whole 8 hrs but excited to finally get out of this house. Thrilled to see who I become out of this whole process...ready to meet the me I always wanted to be

My Path To The Real Me

Omg I cannot believe it's been a whole month since I had my surgery!!! I'm down 21 lbs and able to eat some real foods like eggs, sweet potatoes, ect...even tried some salmon today. Still having pain in my stomach and I think one of my incisions maybe becoming infected. Still very frustrated but learning to not care as much. It's worth it to be down a pant size!
  16. Had mine 4/8. So far lost 19 but it's been sooo slow. I've noticed when I take more in tho I'm more likely to lose. Starting real (mushy) foods and so far everything is going ok.

My Path To The Real Me

Week 3: mistake of the week...trying to eat real food. Not a good idea. Also think I'm getting dehydrated but just can't drink enough. Weight loss still at epic stand still. Probably should be excersising more but can't find the time. I know excuses excuses. Will work on all this for next week

My Path To The Real Me

Onto week 2. Hit a wall weight wise. Only lost 3 this week compared to 11 I lost the first. Back pain, mood swings, head hunger...all starting to get to me. Looking forward to my cream of wheat and mashed potatoes tomorrow! I guess these just keepin on and pushing through it
  19. Got sleeved on the 9th. Lost 11lbs the first week and only 3 the second. Anyone else having this problem or know what to do to lose more?

Remember everyone to get your fluids! It's hard after the surgery (for me anyway) because you get so full so quickly. Be mindful and good luck to everyone
  21. Don't be so excited about that lol. I had mine and threw it all up when I got back to my room. Not a fun time. Ask if they can give you something more then nexium for the acid reflux. I found it only kind of helps. Glad your keeping a good attitude tho
  22. @@Pretty_In_Purple I'm one week post op today. Thanks for the kind words. Today I am feeling better and I know I just have to take it one day at a time ☺️
  23. I know I'm not supposed to rant and should just be proud of myself that I had the surgery and am changing my life... I'm just still frustrated that I'm in pain and that I ever let myself get to this place. I'm sick of hating the image I see in the mirror

My dr told me that I can't have yogurt until I go to my post op appt (I believe it's in the pureed stage) but double check with ur dr to make sure. I know so many drs do everything differently[/QUOMine said after 5 days post op I can have Greek yogurt. Be sure to look at the sugar levels on everything. If it's more then 10g/serving don't have it. Your body can't handle that much sugar anymore so you have to read all labels and be careful
  25. They said I can't have stuff like that until I'm 15 days post op I had some broth and that helped. But also figured out if I eat every few hrs the hunger isn't too bad. Thanks for the advice tho
