I have made the decision to have gastric bypass because the real me has been stuck inside of myself for way too long. In the last year I have lost my dear sister due to complications of morbid obesity and I made her the promise that I would take better care of myself than she was able to for herself. I view WLS as the one tool I know will help me to succeed in my journey. I am so ready to embrace this new way of living! I want to be able to keep up with my 12 year old stepdaughter :).
Right now I am in the middle of the process of getting to the point that we can turn everything into insurance to see if they will approve my surgery. I have completed four months of my required six of seeing my regular doctor on a supervised diet program, the weight loss without the bariatric tool in my drawer has been a struggle but a few pounds lost. I have seen a dietitian who was more than helpful in explaining how I will change my eating and have already started practicing a few of the things which will change. My surgeon, Dr. Sydney Hu, is very helpful and explained the procedure very well. I'm excited to get to work with her in this journey.
I also realize that I am going to need much support which is why I set out to find this website. I have already read many posts and I find the words I read to be very helpful, not only to learn by but to take inspiration from as well.
I'm looking forward to meeting new friends here :)
