Oh, and 4 pounds in one day sounds like water retention to me.

Sleeves don't stretch, but can be eaten around. Are you experiencing more hunger? Eating more? Are you tracking calories, carbs and protien? Staying strict with your plan, only eating Protein first and drinking all your Fluid? Staying away from sugar and white carbs? You really didn't give out enough info to help you....you can't just depend on the sleeve for your weight loss. You've got to do the hard work to utilize it correctly.

@@D. Kennedy When do you get to start pureeds or soft food? My goodness that's a long time on thin liquids!

5 week post op & on a 2 week STALL! GOING CRAZY!
Babbs replied to Lexuskela's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@Lexuskela It's not easy at first, but you'll get it. Just do the best you possibly can getting your liquids and Protein drinks in! I know it feels like a full time job right now, but it will get easier and easier as time goes by and that little sleeve of yours loosens up a little. You're doing just great! -
5 week post op & on a 2 week STALL! GOING CRAZY!
Babbs replied to Lexuskela's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Just. Breath. You are going through the normal, happens to everybody, 3 week stall. After losing 26 pounds, your body is taking a break. You will NOT continue to lose a pound a day from here on out. It's not realistic. Once your completely normal stall is over, you will balance out to more 2-4 pounds a week losses. This particular stall you just have to ride out. I would suggest upping your calories to 500 at this point, and making sure you're getting at least 60-70 grams of protien. Be patient with the process. If you're as dedicated to it as you say you are, it will work. The weight isn't just going to fall off. You've got to put in the work, time and patience, and you will reap the rewards. This may be your first stall, but it certainly won't be your last. It's all just part of the process. -
That's pretty normal behavior actually. I prefer you "licking" to the chew and spit I've seen others do. Once you get off liquids, your need to taste things should subside.

Changing mind during process?
Babbs replied to Leesa926's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@zackly You do realize you will still need to maintain your weight loss by watching what you eat and doing some exercise, right? You just threw me when you said you didn't want to be doing that at 65. Things change as time goes by. You won't have the restriction we have now and the hunger does return eventually. It will still be up to us to do what we need to do to maintain the weight loss. I see too many people with the attitude that they can get lax about diet and excerise once the weight is off. Unfortunately, those are the folks that regain some or all of their weight back. This is for life. Even at 65. -
before gastric sleeve surgery
Babbs replied to gihan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, don't call it off! What you're going through is completely normal! I think if everyone who had to deal with the 2 week liquid diet called off their surgery because they were miserable, NOBODY would have surgery! Okay, don't hate me, but my surgeon didn't require one. BUT I was on liquids for 6 weeks AFTER surgery, and it sucked. I hear it gets better after the first couple days, and once you get over the hump, it's all downhill from there. You hating the pre op liquid diet has nothing to do with how successful you'll be post op. It sucks for everyone Hang in there! You can do this! -
Quantity of Food - 4 weeks out
Babbs replied to sallydswanson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes. Your sleeve is still really swollen and narrow from surgery. As you heal, you will be able to get a few more bites in as time goes on. You do understand the purpose of the surgery is make the stomach very small to limit your eating, right? -
You will ALWAYS need 64 ounces of fluids. Period. But as time goes on, drinking gets a little easier, and you find a routine. You'll figure it out

If it's not a bariatric surgery site, there's going to be incredible bias and vitriol spewed against weight loss surgery. The general public is very uneducated and uniformed about the subject, and rely on second hand information and old wives tales to form their own opinions on the subject. If you aren't in the mood to deal with the ignorance, or help educate people on the subject of WLS, then it's best to just stay away form those sites.
-
@@Elode Funny you mention that.... On another bariatric site I kind of stalk, but don't really interact in, they have a "What are you wearing today?" Thread that's been going on for over a year because several members will post pictures daily what they are wearing, size, where they bought it from, etc....we may have to start something like that!

Oh yeah! Rock those leggings! I'm so excited for leggings and sweater dresses, skinny jeans and boots! Bring on fall!

I've been watching calories, carbs, and exercising (which is true). One lady said "Oh, you're doing it the RIGHT way!" Yup -
Those of you who still have regrets, go find the before and after photo threads. I guarantee they will make you feel better.

Stupid things people say when they find out you've had surgery....
Babbs replied to Awjones28's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
"Well, have you tried just diet and excerise?" Like every other overweight person on the planet, only about 100 times...... -
Exactly this for me too. People have seen me in so many different stages of weight loss all the time because of my history of losing and gaining, it really took around 70 pounds for the constant comments to happen. It seems once you hit a certain point in your loss, EVERYONE notices all of the sudden!
-
I agree with what @@proudgrammy said. I set my goal right at the high end of a normal BMI, as I'm just barely 5'5", but also on the curvy side (meaning I have big boobs, lol). But as I inch closer to goal, I have decided to give myself a 5 pound buffer and go to 145. Believe me, if I could go to 135 I would, but my weight loss has slowed to a crawl as it is, and it would take me another year to get there!

That's tough. Sorry about that. Personally, and I'm sure you'll agree, you're better off without him. I agree with @wantingabetterlife. Use that emotion and focus it on your WLS journey. It will help take your mind off of things and in the process make you feel better about yourself. Hang in there! We are always here if you need to vent!

Maybe it's getting older, or maybe it's just because I've always been one to not put up with people's bullshit, but I honestly don't know how you didn't just tell her to STFU and mind her own business?
