Have you tried actually talking to him about how you feel? I mean, I know you need to rant, and yes, by all means rant away, but none of us are going to help him understand what you need from him. Only you can do that. Talk to the guy. Just let him know in a non accusatory way how it makes you feel when you don't get acknowledgement from him. It's sad we have to actually do that, but men are dense sometimes. But on the flip side, they aren't mind readers either. Even though they SHOULD be, dammit!

I can't believe this is me! (Boudoir pics)

I'm old enough to be your momma, but I've been actually thinking about doing something like these to celebrate getting to goal. Yours turned out so beautiful, I think I'm going to bite the bullet and make an appointment! You're simply gorgeous! -
One of my go to snacks! Eat it almost every week!

I don't know if you can eat the amount of points required for Weight Watchers, and I wouldn't know how to even adjust them accordingly. I agree with @Chrystee....just continue to concentrate on protien first (keeps you satisfied longer) and veggies and lower sugar fruits like berries. Just keep eating clean, real food and stay away from processed food and sugar. But by all means, if you think you need the support of Weight Watchers, they are amazing for that! Maybe one of the counselors know how to deal with a WLS diet and the points system?

Food Regrets Over Time?
Babbs replied to thinner-me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nope. I like feeling and looking healthy and wearing a size 6-8. I've chosen this lifestyle for a reason, and if that means planning and preparing every meal for the rest of my life so I can continue to feel good and wear a size 6-8, so be it. -
@@BigViffer See? Told you people don't take too kindly to being asked to use proper grammar. There was a huge thread several months back about this very same subject. The horror!

Holy cow that's one of the best TT results I've ever seen! Damn girl! I want your stomach!

At 4 months out around the holiday season, I imbibed with a Bloody Mary (tomato juice is nutritious, right???) No problems, just couldn't finish it and didn't even get a buzz I'm a year out, and I drink very occasionally. No beer, but wine and usually vodka and lite cranberry juice.

Oh, it's this thread again! Be careful there, bud. People don't take too kindly to asking them to use proper punctuation and grammar 'round these parts.

Brain is talking back ...
Babbs replied to MrsKarenC2008's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here's the thing....there's going to come a time when food becomes more fuel than pleasure (honestly, as it should be). I'm not saying you can never enjoy food again, because what little we get should at least be somewhat enjoyable, but we can't have it the center of our universe anymore. That's what got us fat in the first place. I now enjoy the company I'm with when I go out to eat, or take a vacation, or go to a party, instead of it being all about how much food I can stuff my face with. I don't miss that at all. The temporary feeling of pleasure you get from eating what you want and how much you want. Then you deal with the constant guilt. Then repeat. I had my moments like you all, but eventually came to realize that I enjoy being in control of what and how much I'm putting into my mouth. I also enjoy my size 6 clothes. You guys will get there, too! -
@@Inner Surfer Girl And actually to piggy back onto that, the carbonation rule was specifically meant for the bypass folks BECAUSE their pouch can stretch. @@bellabloom It's because you're still in the honeymoon phase. Believe me, your restriction will be less and less over time. My husband could eat normal size portions in a matter of a few years because of carbonation consumption after RNY.

For all of you complaining about the sweet tooth here's a little advice..... STOP EATING SUGAR AND WHITE CARBS. Sugar is weird. The more you eat, the more you crave. It's a vicious cycle. You've got to jump off the never ending merry go round and cut out the sugar and carbs that turn into sugar. It's a detox of sorts. Once you can white knuckle through the detox portion, the cravings will stop for the most part. When you're eating nothing but clean, non processed real food, the cravings become almost non existent. If you need something sweet, have a piece of lower sugar fruit or a square of real dark chocolate. It's just so much easier for me to do it that way as opposed to constantly fighting the cravings and then just going down the rabbit hole of gobbling sweets on a daily basis.

Well, I made it! (after pics)
Babbs replied to JamieLogical's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yay Jamie! I remember when you were worried about how you were going to even do with your new personal situation, and you just rocked it! I think the stress has caused you to lose faster, lol! You have always been one of my go to people for sound, well thought out responses and advice. I also felt kind of a kinship with you because you struggled with slower weight loss like I did. You've done amazing, you look amazing, and every time I see your flat stomach and perky boobs it makes me want to move forward with plastics, darn it! -
It’s About Time We Eat Real Food
Babbs replied to My Bariatric Life's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Great article! Aside from my Premier Protein shake I drink every morning, I have been trying to eat as much clean, real food since my surgery. And you're right, it's really not as hard and time consuming as people think. But let's face it, losing weight and more imortantly keeping it off requires preparation and planning. I've never seen anyone be successful with either by just "winging it". -

Can I just be real with you?
Babbs replied to hilaryglynxo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
98% of us have had the "What have I done??" days. Usually, they are early out from surgery when we are sore, tired, grumpy, and HUNGRY. Our lives are turned upside down, and it's a chore to just get in our fluids and protien at first. We just can't IMAGINE how our lives will ever be normal again. But guess what? Just like with anything else, time passes and normalcy happens. At least our NEW normal. You know, the one where food no longer has the power over us, we no longer need medications for diabetes, blood pressure, aching joints, our clothes are smaller and our weight is going down on a consistent basis. The new normal where we finally are starting to feel more attractive and confident in our own skin, and you actually get tired of all the compliments of how wonderful you look. The new normal where the future finally looks bright, because you know your weight and dependence on food will no longer make you feel ashamed and guilty. The picture is so much bigger than a couple moments of regret. It's the rest of your life! -
Will it really work for me?
Babbs replied to micnic1027's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, it will work if you make it work for you. Getting sleeved will give you the "jump start" on weight loss you will need to keep it going. It happens oraganically at first, but then you continue the momentum to keep it going. It also helps that hunger is lower and you're very restricted on how much you can eat. You sound very educated in low carb eating, and that's a plus! Keep educating yourself on the process and what you need to do to get the opitumum results desired with your surgery. Honestly, it ulimately is all up to you how far you want to go with it. If you work the sleeve, it will work for you. Good luck and keep us posted! -
@@Proud2BMe Okay, the sleeve has done it's job for you. Now it's time you start doing the work. You HAVE TO TRACK. Calories, protien, carbs, how much Water, etc...this isn't something you can just "wing". You have to put the work in to get the result you desire. Download the Myfitnesspal app and start utilizing it. At this point, you should be getting at least 900-1000 (because you're a guy) and 70-100 grams of protien. No more than 50 grams of carbs until you are close to goal. You said yourself you have no idea where you were at with either. Time to educate yourself. This is why they say to expect 60% of excess weight loss with the sleeve. It pretty much does the work for you at first. But after time, you've got to pitch in and know what you're putting into your mouth for the success you desire. And then to keep the weight off. Because I gaurantee someone isn't going to keep it off by "winging it". The sleeve's effectiveness waines over time, and hunger returns. Then what? I know it's a pain in the ass to do all this tracking and planning. But we have the disease of obesity, and if not treated with a specific plan, we are at VERY high risk for regain. Good Luck.

150!! Made goal! Woot woot!!

Well now I'm curious. Let us know if you lose some of that weight in a day or so. Then we will know for sure if it's water weight!

Funny, that's when I first experienced it was on Atkins. @@kranky813 Your body should adjust soon. I really only remember it being a couple of weeks. In the mean time, brush your teeth a lot and stay clear of other people until it passes, lol. If you can make sure to really suck it until it disappears, maybe some sugar free mints. Oh, and the nausea is also normal. I was nauseous every morning for a couple of weeks post op. Some people have it for weeks, some months. Hang in there. This will all be a distant memory soon enough!

I don't think "licking" is the start of a disorder at all. I did it, and I don't have an eating disorder. I don't like the chew and spit because you can inadvertently swallow too much food. Of couse I agree that you should not be doing it. But I don't think it's going to derail you or cause a full blown eating disorder either. I'll bet there are lots of people who would admit to doing it during the liquid phase.
-
You are experiencing Ketosis. That's a good thing. Means you're burning fat! But yes, the breath it causes can kill a horse. Horrible. Lol.
-
Hmmmmm. I dunno. You would have to eat A LOT to gain 4 pounds that fast. You may have gained a little, but I still say water retention is the culprit. And stay away from those carbs! They effect me the same way...the more I eat, the more I want!
-
@ Well, you can go walking immediately. As for other stuff, you're going to have to ask your surgeon. Usually it's 6 weeks when they release you for full excerise.
