Yup, what @@BLERDgirl said. Staying hydrated is your priority right now. People get readmitted to the hospital post surgery for dehydration, not for starvation

Sleeve vs Bypass long term weight loss results
Babbs replied to Pinkgirl1234's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yah it seems like the people that gain it back cheat and don't change their eating habits. I am not going to go through all this to just sabotage myself and regain everything I lose. I am going to fight!!! Yeah, not it SEEMS. That is EXACTLY how they gain it back! Good for you for recognizing that! -
What were your favorite first "solid" foods?
Babbs replied to FocusOnMeNow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, you need to stay away from the Pasta and rice and concentrate on lean meats, legumes, seafood and veggies. Pasta and rice are not giving you any nutritional value at this stage with as little room you have in your tummy. Refried Beans, black beans, eggs, chicken, shrimp, crab, fish and tuna are good examples of protien sources you can try as soon as you are cleared to. Those will keep you fuller longer, too. All that pasta and stuff doesn't keep you satiated like dense protien will. -
Define "arrogant"? People who tell you that smoking hinders healing? Or people who wonder why you would have this surgery to become healthier, yet continue to do something that is obviously unhealthy?

weight loss slow down?
Babbs replied to punklandia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you tracking your calories? Believe it or not, sometimes increasing calories helps move things along. And depending what your excersise regimen is, obviously more can be good for jump starting things. If you're an excersise fanatic, less is better. It's all about keeping your body guessing by doing the opposite of what it's expecting. You really should just be patient though. You've lost a lot of weight in a short amoumt of time! You'll get the last bit off. Let your body catch up! Besides, what's the hurry? It took me over a year to get to my goal weight, and learning to maintain is harder than losing for sure. Enjoy the ride! -
Now that I'm at goal, the only clothes I kept is my current size and one size up. I'm being realistic knowing that a 10-15 pound gain is common a couple years out, but that's as far as it will go, if that. Anything bigger than a 8 will not be in my closet. And I'm going to fight like hell to make sure of it!

@@Whitney1968 Why are you eating so many carbs?? Where is your protien? I don't think your diet so early out should consist of rice, cream of wheat and ramen noodles? Call me crazy... -

I'm just so excited for you! I almost feel like I'm anticipating my surgery as I wait for yours! You're going to do so great! -
Happy Birthday! You just had MAJOR SURGERY 5 days ago. Patience, Grasshopper. It takes at least 6 weeks to recover. That's why they call it "recovery". Each day, each week that goes by you will feel better and better. Months down the road, this will all be a distant memory. I promise.

What you're feeling is completely normal at your phase. Please believe me, it gets better as your progress to eating more normal food. Try not to isolate yourself! It's super hard at first to see everyone enjoying food and alcohol around you, but as you progress to different foods, it will get easier. I think most of us felt the way you do at first, but it gets better! Hang in there! Why do you feel you're disappointing your husband?

Maybe I'm an alcoholic?
Babbs replied to likeamazing's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From what you're saying, I personally think you're going through the normal grieving process like we all do with food, except you're doing it with alcohol. I don't think you sound like an alcoholic at all. Keep in mind, just like when we advise people about having "food funerals", you will be able to enjoy your wine in moderation down the road again, so don't think you won't. Get to your goal weight and implement your enjoyment of wine as part of your maintenance plan. In moderation, of course. If you feel you want to get it out of your system, by all means postpone the surgery until you feel you're ready to make the life changes needed for this surgery to be successful. -
Anyone else feel scared they'll gain it back?
Babbs replied to Debbieduck4's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have no doubt you will get to goal, or at the least, damn close to it. No doubt. There are just certain people who have the tenacity to succeed. You are one of them. -

@@AvaFern You know how I feel, because I said it before.... But your words "But every day I can get on my scales I have quantifiable proof that I'm not worthless anymore " made me CRINGE. If you're putting all your worth to the number on the scale, I feel sorry for you. So if you gain....say 20 pounds...does that mean you're worthless again? When I weighed 235 pounds, I was still smart, funny, kind, hard working, patient....I had lots of qualities that the scale didn't define. And I'm still that person. There's just less of me now. Which is a shame because I'm pretty awesome. I see too many people on this site put all their worth into how much they weigh. And that's just sad. And wrong. And not healthy. -
So I'm not overreacting that this is crazy? I mean, it's a queen size bed!!! How can he fall on me and almost crack my skull like that!! So not all alcoholics can barely walk when they drink? I've never been around one before.Ever heard the term "Falling down drunk?" Yeah. My mom was an alcoholic. She used to hurt herself all the time because she was too drunk to walk. Luckily, she never hurt any of us. Physically at least. Almost killed us a couple times driving, too.

Hair Loss and Vitamins
Babbs replied to Colleen Rothberg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most people lose some hair. I lost 30% of mine, but it's thick so it was hardly noticeable. I think it all depends on how thick your hair is. I've seen just a few people who lost enough to have to wear extentions or hairpieces. Honestly, taking your Vitamins and getting all your protien is great, but more than likely it won't prevent hair loss. It's really not the end of the world. I'd rather have thinner hair than be obese. -

I respond best to this type of diet, also. If I was a little more disciplined, I would follow it even more strictly.
