diet? no diet? life change? bad mood?
Babbs replied to mimorison's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This isn't a diet to me because there's no 'end' to it. It's just my life now. Yes, I measure. Yes, I track. Is it a pain in the ass? Yup. But so was being obese. I have the disease of obesity, and the only treatment that works for me to continue to not be obese is measuring and tracking everything that goes into my mouth and eating nutritious, non processed foods and sugar. No diet, just my lifestyle now. And I like the way I feel and look, so I will continue to do it. -
Yeah we don't know the whole story. And who are you to tell anyone whether they 'need' the surgery or not? Are you her doctor? Just sayin.

Classic case of over confidence...
Babbs replied to dhrguru's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It's not really a gain the way I look at it, since you're going to re lose it and then some anyway You just got your reward gift a little early is all -
It's ridiculous. I had some major dental work done yesterday, and I was just sitting here freaking out because I haven't worked out in TWO WHOLE DAYS. I may even have to skip tomorrow. THE HORROR. We find so many ways to beat ourselves up, don't we?

Awesome!

Got mine yesterday!

First milestone at 12 weeks out!

Amazing job! Isn't it a great feeling? -
@@Tootsietoes @@jenn1 and I are from Boise, too! Oh, and I agree with jenn. Some of those issues should be adressed by your doctor. I don't think the chronic pain is normal for WLS patients. At least not for me. And I'm kind of old. The other stuff seems to be pretty normal stuff from what I've seen. And I'd much rather look a little older than FEEL older by being obese and unhealthy! I'd be willing to bet you don't look as old as you think you do.

@@CowgirlJane You have such amazing insight. So much more keen than most. You're going to have to find a guy with an equal amount of insight as you. That's not going to be easy, because like I said, yours is so much better than most peoples!

Yeah, you're way too early out to be thinking about tortillas now. But a few months down the road have corn tortillas. They are definitely better than the flour tortillas. You may also find they don't sit well in your tummy. They don't with me. Luckily. Lol.

A body area that stops you dropping a size
Babbs replied to Beachsprite's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
UGH I HATE my panni area! I don't think it so much prevents me from going down a size, but just looks unsightly to me in or out of clothes. I've decided I'm going to persue plastics next year, because no matter what or how much excersise I do, it won't be going away. Sometimes plastic surgery is the only option for those problem areas! -
Look at you! You look amazing! And young and vibrant!

I'm so glad your recovery is going smoothly! Honestly, attitude is everything in these situations. I truly believe the better attitude you have going in, the easier the recovery. I don't recall that leg pain. Please keep an eye on it and bring it up to your surgeon if it persists. The whole clot thing and leg pain make me nervous....

Good job!! You can do it! I know you can!

Got nekkid at work yesterday !
Babbs replied to Dub's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like you're doing great! But I had no doubt you would I was a model patent, too, but I remember getting annoyed the second day when they were pushing me to walk. I'd do it, but I was grumbling the whole time because I just wanted to take a nap instead! I always felt better after I walked, too. I guess they do know best -
Developed a replacement habit to food
Babbs replied to Beachsprite's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey, I hear ya. I've developed quite a shopping addiction for clothes. I mean, nothing fit and I NEEDED new clothes, but I've had problems putting on the brakes. I did some of the suggestions above. Used the energy I put into shopping into more constructive things: meal planning and cooking (I love to cook) excersise, learning how to knit (although the yarn could get expensive!) and reading. It's all about guiding the negative toward something more positive and constructive. And if you need professional help to do that, so be it. Good luck, sister! -
How invested are you in the idea of healthy weight loss?
Babbs replied to skinnyrita's topic in Food and Nutrition
Let's not mince words here. This whole WLS thing shouldn't just be about what someone chooses to eat to lose the weight. It should be about trying to become the healthiest you can be in the process. Otherwise, we are just doing another unhealthy crash diet, no? -
How do you stay motivated during a stall?

Tired of being judged and questioned (Low BMI)
Babbs replied to Cutepretty1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Just tell them that a 36 BMI is still considered obese. People thinking obese people look too "small" for surgery just proves how we have gotten so fat as a society, nobody even knows what a healthy, normal weight looks like anymore! Just stay the course and don't listen to those who feel they have to inject their opinion about your health care. Good luck! -
Total Weight Loss: 3 Million Pounds and Counting!
Babbs replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@Elode Nothing tiny about 110 pounds! Such an accomplishment! -
You're going to think I'm crazy for saying this, but I would cut back on your workouts. Cut back one day, continue to eat the same and see what happens. I was working out too much and could not eat enough to compensate. As soon as I cut down my workouts to 3 sometimes only 4 days a week and eating a bit more, the weight would come off again. It's a common issue, actually.

@@JudeaJordon Since when is speaking the truth "arrogant"? Fact. Smoking hinders healing. Fact. Smoking is bad for your health, so trying to be healthier by having WLS and losing weight while continuing to smoke is counter productive. I quit before my surgery for those reasons. I used the vape for a couple of months before surgery until I was down to 0 nicotine, then lost interest in the vape. I had smoked for 25 years. If I could do it, anyone can. Was it easy? Nope. But you just gotta want it bad enough. Same with making this surgery successful. Is it easy? Nope. But you just gotta want it bad enough. Sorry I can't sugar coat things enough for some people.

I'm very basic and simple. It's only hubby and I, so I don't get fancy very often. Breakfast: Protein shake or eggs and turkey bacon on the weekends Lunch: Tuna, chicken, or seafood salad or lunch meat roll up with lettuce or tomato. Very rarely I will make a sandwich with whole grain bread. Snacks if I'm hungry: Nuts, yogurt, cheese sticks, Jerky or fruit. Dinner: Protein like fish or beef, chicken or pork (prepared different ways) and green veggie or salad. Ta Da!

Average Weight Loss per month
Babbs replied to Whitney1968's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So what happens once it's off? Do you think you're "done" and you will live happily ever after? The work is NEVER done. Enjoy the ride, learn as much as you can about health and nutrition, and don't compare your losses to anyone else. The next thing you know, you'll be where you want to be. Then the hard work really starts.... -
How do you stay motivated during a stall?
Babbs replied to butterfly23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This, this, THIS! I don't quite understand what the rush is sometimes? It's not going to happen overnight, and people seem to view the whole process as a means to an end. It NEVER ends, so just keep finding ways to trick your body out of the stall, and enjoy learning about health and nutrition along the way. The next thing you know, you'll be where you want to be. Then the hard work REALLY starts....
