  1. You're 12 days out, just in time for your first stall we all had (dreaded 3 week stall). Totally normal. Never satisfied, make sure you're taking a PPI for stomach acid or just not experiencing head hunger. Both mimic real hunger. Totally normal. Can eat 4 Oz of food because your nerves have been cut in your tummy, and your "full" sensation is probably skewed because of that. Also, once you start healing and eating honest to goodness real food, you will feel more restriction. Also totally normal. Just breath. You've got a long road ahead of you, and if you're ready to throw in the towel at only 12 days out, well I'm afraid you're going to struggle. Just know that all the fear, frustration and everything else you're going through is normal and is only temporary. Then it will be onto the next stage and different challenges.
  2. I love this post so much! Keep up the great work! I know you will!
  3. See? See? I haven't said a word! It's a new kinder, gentler me! *Sprinkles fairy dust on everyone and skips away*
  4. Bite your tongue! I find a Hostess Cupcake the greatest quality chocolate! Or chocolate like substance....
  5. Okay really, all kidding aside... No, you won't stretch your sleeve, but you can see how easily it would be to eat around it. Get yourself back on track with Protein and veggies, limit your sugar and your cravings will subside to where you feel you're back in control again by keeping your tummy full with protien and fluids. That's really the trick. It happens to all of us. You just gotta get right back on track and move forward!
  6. YOU'VE BEEN VERY, VERY BAD! YOU'RE A BAD BOY, AREN'T YOU?? Okay, I'm done.....

    Five Common LAP-BAND Myths Debunked

Mine flat out said they don't do them anymore. One interesting observation I've had since surgery. On the occasion I tell someone I had WLS, their first response is always to say with some excitement "Oh, did you have the lap band surgery?" And when I tell them the actual surgery I had (sleeve), their excitement seems to fade and I get the blank stare. Do any of you that tell people run into that, also? Seems it's much more of an acceptable and recognizable procedure to laymen than the others.
  8. No worries! A little mushed up turkey with gravy, a little potatoes and well cooked green Beans...aaand that's all you're going to have room for. I concur with some of the others....say you have an upset tummy and you're just not very hungry. Don't make a big deal out of it, and nobody else will. That's what I learned early out. Nobody really cared what or how much I was eating.
  9. Oh dear, don't do that to yourself. You're only setting yourself up for possible disappointment. I remember sitting in my surgeons office a week after surgery, waiting for my first follow up. I was SO PROUD of myself because I had lost 8 pound that week. There was another gal there who had surgery the exact same day as me (we even walked the halls together). She'd asked how much I'd lost, I told her, and she said "Impossible. I've lost 17. How could you have only lost 8?" I wanted to cry. When I mentioned this to my surgeons PA, (feeling like a failure) he said "Well, she weighs 100 pounds more than you do and is also 15 years younger than you are, so that would make sense". Like everyone said, we are all different, and lose weight at different rates for those and many other reasons. You do you, and don't worry about what everyone else is doing.

    wine

It's probably just bloating. I gain a little every time I drink, and it goes away in a day or so. Alcohol affects our bodies weird because of the sugars.
  11. I'm so confused........ Obviously we are going to have to automatically start quoting the original posts around here because people are deleting them for some inexplicable reason??

    Exercise? how soon?

Do you have a 6 week check up with your surgeon? Usually they will clear you for the more strenuous stuff after 6 weeks. Keep dancing! As long as you're moving more, honestly that's all you need to do
  13. Great suggestions! I would also suggest getting a crock pot if you don't already have one! Cooking in a crock pot really doesn't take a lot of skill, and there are so many great low carb recipes on the internet you can find. Just throw in your ingredients and let it cook! Easy peasey! That way you can eat more "real" food and keep the processed stuff to a minimum.
  14. @@sweetie716 I hear ya. This maintenence is tricky stuff. I've actually lost 6 pounds in October because I can't quite figure out the balance yet. I guess I'll just let my body decide.
  15. @@sweetie716 Holy cow you're dedication puts me to shame! You're amazing!
  16. Yeah, @@Elode, I'm thinking if you want to give this challenge another go, I think we should all do it in January after the holidays. I would be game for that one for sure! I feel I may need it this year....

    Where's the "support"?

No! Of course not!! What were you thinking?!? Everyone knows it's dangerous to eat under baked cookie dough! You want salmonella or something?

    So what's changed?

I'm 14 months out, and I'm sad to report the craft beer I loved so much can be no more Although I can have carbonation once in a while with no problems, beer just doesn't sit well in the sleeve. I can only drink 2 sips before I feel like Violet Beauregard in Willy Wonka when she turned into a blueberry.

    Cpap advice

I have no advice, but just came in to say I first read that as "Crap" Advice......

    Party next week

I don't see why not if you can tolerate it okay. Question is, what are you going to use to dip? Can you do veggies yet? You don't really want to do chips or crackers. Too carby.
  22. I don't take my weight in Vitamins. I only take Vitamin D because I'm always deficient and I live in Idaho where the winter lasts 5 months, and Calcium because I'm kind of old, and that's it. I like to get my vitamins from food, and I wanted the sleeve surgery so I could. My blood work is great, too.
