Don't compare your weight loss to anyone else. If you're following your plan, the weight will come off at your body's own pace. Also, stalls happen and are just part of the process. Expect your first one as early as 3-6 weeks. This one especially is normal and inevitable. Stay the course, stay off the scale, don't get discouraged and let it pass

So..........6 month check up
Babbs replied to grandmaofone's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
What @@KristenVSG2014 said was spot on. You really need to start tracking your macros so you know where you stand. And personal trainers work you hard, so you need to make sure you're eating enough calories to compensate for that. Like Kristen, almost every time I stalled was because I wasn't eating enough. By 7 months, I had upped my calories to 1000. This whole thing is sometimes one big science experiment, and you have to analyze and measure things to find the perfect combination to lose. By the way, I had lost the exact same amount at 6 months. You're doing just fine -
Appetite suppressants (prescribed) 2 years out...
Babbs replied to McButterpants's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Hi! Nice to see you back! I've used them in the past, (phentermine), and I'm in the minority because I have nothing against using them short term to jump start weight loss. And it will. Problem is, you know once off of them again, if you don't continue to portion, eat healthier and not snack so much in between meals, the weight will come back. But since you already know the basics of the surgery, you will go back to them and keep the weight off after. Maybe it is the jump start you need again? You will get mostly negative comments about these medications, but honestly, I wouldn't hesitate to use them again under a doctor's care and short term to lose a little regain. -

I would never go back to that doctor again and continue follow up care with my PCP. F*ck him. -
Anyone made a big deal out of surgery before having it and turned out not as bad as they thought?
Babbs replied to sarinemaniss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't make a big deal about it either. I just wanted to get the show on the road! Aside from some problems with reflux, it was pretty easy peasy. -

Before being sleeved how slices of pizza could you eat, and after how many?
Babbs replied to Scottyd1264's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Depends if it was all at once or not. I think I could eat 2 slices. But later I would go back for leftovers and eat one more. Now? 3/4 of a piece of thin crust. Early out, maybe just a few bites. -
Short answer? Yes, there may be times you are hungry. And then there will be times where you aren't hungry, but just want to eat. It will be up to you to figure out the difference.

Are you eating enough to compensate for the excersise? Most of the time I stalled, it was because I wasn't eating enough and excersising too much. I either had to back off on the excersise or up my calories. Of course, it always helps to track what your intake of protien, carbs and calories is to know exactly where you're at so you can adjust accordingly. Are you tracking?

Getting to be impossible to lose!
Babbs replied to akreese02's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 48, forced menopausal due to a full hysterectomy, and it took me a year to lose 85 pounds and get to goal. Since then, I have lost 7 more in 4 months. Fairly slow, but I got there. I did start at a relatively lower weight (235) than most, and that sometimes can make a difference, too. Weight loss also slows the closer to goal you get. Of course it was worth it! Just because it took me a little longer, doesn't mean it wasn't worth it. My health is better, I look better and feel better. I wouldn't trade that even if it took me TWO years to get there! I really wish people would stop obsessing about how long it takes to get there and worry more about learning proper nutrition and excersise to maximize health and weight loss so then they can ultimately KEEP the weight off. -

Constant bad taste in my mouth!
Babbs replied to sandra_febres@yahoo.com's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
I had the sleeve and not the DS, but I'm almost positive it's ketosis. Google it and I think you'll agree. The breath and taste from it is positively horrible! I had it too the first month after surgery. -
Have them take your gallbladder out. It does suck having another surgery so soon, but believe me you will be happy you did it. Then you can move forward with your eating and progress as you should be doing. You'll get through it. Just take it one day at a time. For now, please make sure you're at least drinking enough. If you're having trouble with food, start drinking those Protein shakes up! At least then your getting fluids and protien at once. Good luck!

I agree with @Tssiemer1...then EAT every 2-3 hours. I did, and pretty much eat every 3 hours even now at 16 months out. I know early out I was eating every 2.

F*ck her. You keep positive, supportive people in your life. Not people who will bring you down. It will make your journey so much easier that way. You owe NOBODY an explanation. Keep on keeping on! -

They said "weight just fell off me" what does that mean really?
Babbs replied to Lexuskela's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Let's put in in perspective. It took me A YEAR to lose what you've lost so far. No, the weight didn't fall off. Far from it. But I could give a sh*t. I'm now at goal and maintaining, like Ann said. The actual weight loss is just a blip on the radar. Maintenence is the rest of our lives. Someone the other day asked me how much I'd lost before I dropped a size. I couldn't even remember, it's been so long ago. At least it SEEMS so long ago. Just doesn't matter anymore. Perspective. -

@ VERY similar situation with my son. But through therapy I'm learning he's a grown man and I can't force him to seek therapy or lose weight. It's still very hard to see someone you love go through it though, isn't it? This mama has to learn to let go sometimes.

This is one of my biggest peeves. Both my husband and I are firm beleivers in "If it ain't working, CHANGE IT". My daughter is good about taking matters into her own hands and doing something pro active in a sh*tty situation. My son? The consummate victim. Drives me crazy! I always tell him, "We can't help you if you're not willing to help yourself". Ugh.
