@@Proud2BMe Sigh. Some people gain weight when they stall. I did. I'd go up a pound or two, then stay there. It wasn't what I was eating. Please read the article I posted. It explains what happens. I know what you're trying to say, but dude, one thing I've learned in this whole process is it's NOT as simple as 'calories in, calories out'. Our bodies are much more complicated than that. I wish it was that simple! Good job on your weight loss by the way and Merry Christmas!

Yes.Reminds me of this article I just readhttp://nyti.ms/1WCZ4kT As someone with the keen observational skills of Mr. Magoo, it took me a long time to notice a problem social-media acquaintances had been talking about for months. “I woke up to four new people today asking me for money on four different donation platforms,” one friend said. “One was my ex-babysitter announcing her wedding and where I could send cash. No invitation to the wedding. Just cash.” “I’m a believer in giving to real charities: medical research, school drives, the Red Cross, et cetera,” said Heidi Knodle, owner of a picture framing store in San Francisco. “I’m tired of people asking for a vacation, funds for a wedding or their college tuition.” The crime writer Mark Ebner, whose mailboxes have been increasingly filled with monetary requests, has a theory about it all. “I think online begging has become the new economy.” I thought my friends were exaggerating. After all, a visit to GoFundMe or YouCaringyields site after site of worthy donation recipients. People whose homes were wiped out by natural disasters. People with diseases I’d never heard of, with no insurance and staggering medical expenses. Kids trying to pay for their parents’ funerals. Parents with seriously ill children wanting a trip to Disney World, and sick animals owned by people who couldn’t afford the vet bills. One man had set up a fund for a friend who needed to take a couple of months off while his wife died of brain cancer. But then, there were others. Many, many others. Education funds are great, but do I really want to pay for a friend to travel to Peru to become a shaman? Should the woman who has lost a lot of weight (good for you!) ask her friends to pay for $2,500 worth of laser skin tightening? What about the girl seeking $600 for her “personal development journey”? (Not much to ask, but she was so beautiful, I didn’t understand why she didn’t develop herself into a model and make a whole lot more than that.) ......Here’s the question I can’t stop asking myself: Has social media made our craving for attention and validation overwhelm all other considerations? There is nothing new about asking your friends for help (remember rent parties?), but that help was confined to a small group of people you actually knew. Now, no such boundaries exist. Your 4,000 Facebook friends should know if you can’t pay your rent — or your plastic surgery bill. And who knows? They may just pay up. There was a time when there were needs, and there were wants, and we knew the difference. Now? Now I’m not so sure." People need to stop begging friends and family for money unless it is a life and death emergency. Great post and great article. This has been bothering me for a while. I mean, not to be cruel, but why does everyone else have to pay for your loved ones funeral? It used to be a family obligation. And if your house or business has brunt down, isn't that what insurance is for? There are definitely a few legitimate reasons. A few. But it's gone WAY overboard.

@@Proud2BMe No, there are scientific reasons for stalls and weight gain early out from these surgeries. And it's NOT because someone is eating too much or the wrong things, because it's physically impossible at that point. Further out when you can consume a little more? Of course! And no, I'm not the be all of bariatric advice. Not even close. Heck, i'm still a relative newbie. But experience and almost 2 years reading these forums and seeing HUNDREDS of posts about this very phenomenon of weight gain and stalling at the OP's time frame is enough evidence for me. It's okay. I remember thinking I knew it all at 6 months out, too. Just be careful giving advice when you clearly don't know what you're talking about.
-
Remember back in the day, if you didn't have the money for something, you were just sh*t outta luck?

@@Proud2BMe Did you even read the article I posted? Educate yourself. You are completely incorrect in saying that someone can actually gain weight by eating carbs at 3 weeks out. Opinion and fact are two different things. What I posted are scientific facts. You telling someone that it's her fault she put on 6 pounds at 3 weeks out is not only your opinion, but a dangerous and ludicrous one at that. If she was 6 or 7 months out, your opinion may be a little more valid. But not this time. So please stop acting like an expert when you're clearly a newbie and do not, in fact, know what you're talking about.

Jeez, who are these people?? Sounds to me like you need to hang out with a nicer group of people. These guys sound like a bunch of jerks.

Here is why this happens at around 3 weeks post surgery: http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.php

With all due respect, no. Just...no. Gaining weight this early out is COMPLETELY normal. It's not possible to gain 6 pounds of fat by overeating as early out as she is. You could be eating McDonald's shakes at this stage with chocolate chip Cookies and still lose weight. You are dead wrong. It's part of the 3 week stall. She is just one of the lucky ones that gains while the body adjusts. She will start losing weight again once it passes. You just stay the course and let your body do its thing. Don't get discouraged! You're doing great!

Almost ALL restaurants serve soup or chili this time of year. I ordered soup or chili exclusively for the first couple of months eating out post op.

Oh yeah. I seemed to stall every few weeks. I really liked it when the scale would go up a pound and THEN I'd stall. Good times. -
It's my (birthday) and I'll cry if I want to...
Babbs replied to Fatty McFatster's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
From someone who is 16 months out, believe me when I say it's not always going to be that way. My grown sons birthday was yesterday. We went out to eat, where I made a healthy but delicious choice of a honey Chipotle salmon with vegetables and took the rest home for lunch today. Then we went home where he wanted his favorite ice cream cake, and I had a tiny sliver and sent the rest home with him. I knew I was going to, so I ate light most of the day to save up the calories. No harm, no foul. Always remember that things will be different 6 months, 12 months, 2 years from now. It is possible to live a relatively normal life with the sleeve. Even for birthdays Happy Birthday!! -
I ate protein till the cows came home and still had hair loss. Nothing will stop it. It's just a normal part of the process for 98% of us unfortunately.
-
In the almost 2 years I've been on this forum, I've seen maybe 2 or 3 people who have actually resorted to hair peices for their loss. The rest of the hundreds of people only notice the loss themselves, it's so minimal. You're not going to stop it completely, but take some of the advice above to at least minimize it a little. I'd rather have thinner hair than be 95 pounds fatter any day.

GERD after Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Babbs replied to DDN's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I had GERD before surgery, knew it may get worse and chose to go forward with the sleeve. Not gonna lie, it was a total pain in the butt early out. I was regurgitating everything I ate and drank the first 6 weeks out, so was kept on liquids for 6 weeks. Now at 16 months out, it's minimal. I still take a PPI everyday, and will pop a chewable tums every now and then for occasional (once or twice a month) heartburn, but it's manageable. Very happy with the sleeve! -
Awesome job! You've worked hard! Good luck in maintenence. You've got this!

I feel like I'm in a sequel of "Thinner".
Babbs replied to Elode's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I panicked a little a couple months ago when I had a large loss (for me) month. Although I was at goal, I was trying to deliberately lose like 5 more. I ended up losing 8. I was like "YIKES is this going to stop??" Yeah, it stopped. Although I haven't been really doing anything differently, I have held steady by a pound or 2 the last 7 weeks. In other words, I'm in maintenence now, lol. I think my body just likes where I am now. I would have liked to have seen how much lower I could go to give me more of a cushion for that inevitable 10-15 pounds people seem to gain after a couple years, but meh. I'm thrilled with my results. -

You look simply beautiful! Hang in there. It is so hard when life gets in the way of our well intentions with health and weight loss. I've been going through some stuff recently myself. I do find when I can continue the ONE thing I can actually control, which is what I put into my mouth and how much excersise I get, I have an easier time dealing with the things I can't control. You've done a great job with your weight loss. This is just a ltitle bump in the road we all face. Like I said, you look beautiful, so there's that
