@@OutsideMatchInside I didn't think I was losing boobs either, because they were the last to go. I'm still well endowed, but not even CLOSE to what they were before! I went from a 42DD to a much more comfortable 36D. Now if they would stand back up a little....

How to determine a goal weight?
Babbs replied to Sexy Granny's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'd heard of this happening, and wasn't sure I believed it until it happened, but my goal weight chose ME. I had thrown a number out there based on BMI initially. Once I hit that number, I decided to keep going to give myself a "bounce" range. I lost 9 more and without doing anything too differently, I just stopped losing and have been pretty much maintaining for the last couple months (give or take a pound or 2 of normal fluctuations). My body apparently likes where it settled at 141-143. I would have liked to lose the remaining 6 or so pounds to make my loss an even 100 pounds, but that's just my OCD talking I'm thrilled with my results -
From what I've seen on this and other forums, it does seem to be true. Revisions do seem to lose a bit slower. Not all, but some. I don't really know the reason why, but now I'm curious and may use my Google Fu to look it up

3 Month Post-Op and feel good, but slow losing
Babbs replied to SunnyPiper's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You've lost 51 pounds in 3 months and you're worried it's too slow?? Average it out. That's phenomenal. You need to be a little more realistic about your weight loss. You're doing great. Although I personally feel that your calories are a little high as early out as you are, it certainly hasn't hindered your loss. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. You're doing just fine. -
I waited until I was at 75% of my excess weight lost before I even tried bread or crackers. I wanted to keep the momentum I had going to get to my goal weight, and I knew bread and crackers didn't really fit into that equation. Protein and veggies did. Even now 16 months later, they are limited. When I do have them, it's either nut crackers and whole grain, nutty breads so I can get some nutrition from them. The white stuff seems to cause me terrible cravings, so I try to stay away from it.

Hey Veterans help
Babbs replied to NewBakstballMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Between 3-6 weeks after surgery, most people hit a stall. It's just the body's way of 'taking a break' after the large loss. After the stall passes, depending on your weight, you can expect more 'normal' losses of 2-5 pounds per week. Then the closer you get to your weight loss goal, expect your losses to slow a bit more. Good luck! Sounds like you're doing just great so far! -
Good luck and keep us posted!

Isn't it great?? The part of the stomach that has the hunger hormone ghrelin has been removed. Part of the reason the surgery works as well as it does to lose the weight. But fear not, it seems to be temporary. Some people feel no hunger for years, some it comes back in a matter of months. Either way, take full advantage of it while you can to change your relationship with food and learn newer, healthier eating habits. That way when the hunger does eventually return, you will have a good grasp on what it takes to maintain a healthy weight

New TLC Reality show on WLS: Skin Tight
Babbs replied to Sleeve_Sistah85's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I know one of the people on this show is on another forum, so that's how I'd heard about it. -
@@Miss Mac I love you. "Let the little dogs bark". Classic.

Good stuff! Very solid advice! I can so relate, because I have the same issue with sugar and carbs. The more I eat, the more I crave. That's why I choose to limit them, even in maintenance. It just works better for me.

I'm not sure I understand your question? 129 pounds is well within the "healthy" range for your height. Are you concerned because you gained from your low weight? Here's my take on it. After being on these boards and others for almost 2 years, I have noticed a phenomenon of a 10-20 pound "bounce" that seems to happen after a few years from our lowest weight. I believe there are statistics to back me up, too, but I'm too lazy to look it up right now, lol. I know my hubby who had an RNY almost 10 years ago did the 20 pound bounce. He got down to 165 (too thin) and settled at 185-190 (when he's following plan). I think our bodies do like to settle at a certain set point weight wise. I'm at goal, but I'm being realistic since I know about the bounce and keep just one size up in my closet. Stick to your basics 90% of the time (Protein first, lots of fluids, move more, limit sugar and processed foods) and you should be able to maintain where you've settled weight wise. And be diligent with maintenence, but don't obsess about gaining all your weight back too much. That's not healthy, either. Take it one day at a time

another cool yet weird NSV.
Babbs replied to Stevehud's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Brag away! You've earned it! Sometimes when I'm doing laundry, I hold up my size 4 or 6 jeans and still can't beleive I can fit into them. It's fucking surreal. -
I'm much further out now, but yes, I experienced nausea first thing in the morning for about 2 weeks post op. I had to take anti nausea medication. Although it mostly went away, I still experience it at 16 months out periodically and very midly. Once I eat, it goes away. Good luck and congrats on your sleeve!

I can't believe it but 5 months in and 7 pounds to goal ????
Babbs replied to _Kate_'s topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That's crazy! I can't beleive how fast your weight came off! You look so great by the way! -
Same as @@glitter eyes, I ate and drank pretty much what I wanted yesterday. Now, it's back to clean eating like I do 90% of the time. It's all about balance. Yesterday was 1 day. As long as we don't treat everyday like Christmas, we should be good. Time to just move on and get back to what is working for us for a healthier life!

Do you PB or SLIME with sleeve like the lapband?
Babbs replied to IrishGermanRN's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
In the 16 months since surgery, I haven't slimed or vomited once. Just some regurgitation from GERD early out. -
Motivation and Awareness for the long haul
Babbs replied to skinnyrita's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I'm dealing with this right now. It's much harder than I thought to stay motivated, but I'm working on it! My excersise has dwindled down to 2-3 days a week, although I'm still eating healthy 90% of the time. Instead of a weight loss goal, I will just have to make fitness goals for myself. I also have invested quite a bit of money in new clothes for my size 6 body, so being able to wear them for as long as I can is also great motivation for me. You gotta get it where you can find it! -
Don't you just hate that? I swear I stalled for like 2 weeks right before I hit onederland. And the scale was bouncing all around it before. It loves to play with our emotions.

I feel like I'm in a sequel of "Thinner".
Babbs replied to Elode's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, of course you're allowed to contribute. But I was under the impression that you were anorexic and struggling to stop losing, and was panicking about it and even went to treatment for it. Now you're even thinner and okay with it? That's why I guess I'm missing something here? -
You sound like you know what you need to do. It's not easy, but you just gotta get back to the basics of Protein first, then veggies. Drink 64oz of Water, and stay completely away from the white stuff (bread, sugar, rice, pasta) as it causes cravings. Move a little more. Yes, you will still be losing weight. But something people don't understand is early out, you're not really steering the ship. You will lose weight pretty much anyway no matter what you eat. What you should be doing is cementing better habits for when the time comes where you WON'T be automatically losing weight anymore. You also want to keep off what you've lost. It's hard work, but unfortunately it's the burden we all have to bear to save ourselves from the disease of obesity. It's up to each of us whether we want saving or not.

Okay, I've gotta say it.... Weren't you JUST in treatment for anorexia? I'm confused.... -
well you sure are lucky that you only had to pay $4,000!!!! I'm sure if you had to pay the $21,000 like most of us, you probably would not have had it done!!!!!! Lucky girl!! Luck has nothing to do with it. I've paid to have health insurance most of my adult life. And no, if I had to pay $21,000, I probably wouldn't have had it done. And I certainly wouldn't have started a GoFundMe to have people pay for it, either, because it's not everyone else's problem I couldn't pay for it.
-
@@Salinagetssleeved Yes. I used my health insurance that I've payed for the last 25 years and payed a $4,000 out of pocket which I saved up for using money I made from working. If I didn't have the out of pocket already saved, I would have had to wait until I'd saved enough to have the surgery. Simple as that.

And if you can't afford it, maybe you shouldn't be buying it or begging for money to buy it and realize that sometimes we can't all get what we want? But that's just crazy talk.
