    anyone in Boise Idaho area?

@@sharoninidaho Who is doing your surgery? Dr Korn did mine!
  2. I am that way with pancakes and syrup. I threw up after eating them when I was 5, and to this day I can't stand them.
  3. @@BigViffer That is so funny, because since surgery, I actually like green Beans now! I HATED them before. Still hate peas, though.
  4. We love you @@proudgrammy! Truly an inspiration and always there with kind words of advice and wisdom. Good job on 4 life changing years and many more ahead! P.S. I'm still waiting for those post facelift pics, you little brat!

    What can I do with...Avocado?

I know! I know! If course you can substitute the flour and crumbs to lower carb options. I'm sure the result would be the same....delicious! RECIPE: Makes about 24 fries Here's what you need: - 3 Avocados (slightly firm) - 3 eggs - 1 cup flour - 1 cup panko bread crumbs - 1 tsp salt - 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste, or substitute with garlic powder) - Pepper Directions: Slice the avocados in half, and then slice lengthwise into wedges. Mix the bread crumbs with the cayenne pepper and salt. Roll the slices in flour, then in the whisked eggs, then in the breadcrumbs. Place the slices on wax paper on a baking sheet. Spray well with cooking spray. Add a sprinkle of black pepper if desired. Bake for approximately 12 minutes at 400˚F/204˚C. Flip alway through and re-spray. Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce!

    Biggest Loser

I won't watch that peice of crap show since the doctor on the show berated weight loss surgery and said the way they lose weight on the show is the "right" way. I wasn't aware that excersising 8 hours a day was the "right" way to lose weight! Gee, why did I even have surgery?!
  7. @@LilMissDiva Irene Amazing article and very timely for me. Although I'm much earlier post op than you (17 months), I'm at goal and now contemplating a tummy tuck with panni surgery at my 2 year surgiversary in about 7 months. I've been going back and forth about it. I think this decision is harder than actually deciding to have WLS! I will just weigh my options and then ultimately decide when the time comes. If I don't do it before 50 ( in a year and a half), I probably won't do it at all
  8. Those of you who think people can't possibly gain all their weight back because thier stomachs are smaller are either in denial or are woefully misinformed. Or both. I mean, how many in this forum alone know someone who gained all their weight back after WLS? *Raises hand*

    Feeling like I've failed...

Have you considered a revision surgery to a bypass or DS? Maybe the malabsorbtion along with restriction is more the answer for you?
  10. Yes, people can gain all their weight back. I see it all the time. The amount you can eat now won't be the amount you will be able to eat a year or two or five down the road. Some post ops can eat the equivalent of a small dinner plate of food years down the road. Why that happens is debatable, but it naturally happens with time. So a small dinner plate of high calorie fried food and mashed potatoes and gravy will have the same effect post op as it did pre op...weight gain. Grazing and drinking our calories is also a culprit of weight gain. Sure we may not be able to eat a lot in one sitting, but how easy is it to gulp down those 400 calorie coffees from Starbucks or eat a bag of chips through out the day? Heck, if you gave me enough time, I could probably polish off a whole pizza in a day

    What’s Your Attitude Towards Carbs?

I'm choosing foods that give me the most nutritional bang for my buck. White, starchy carbs in the form of bread and pasta don't. If I have them in the form of bread or rice, it's whole grain only. Otherwise I'm all about carbs in dairy, fruits and veggies. As long as they come naturally and aren't processed, I'll eat 'em!

@@jaylowe32 Seeing what you eat, I actually think you need to INCREASE calories. Do you know how many you're at a day? Do you track? You can't measure what you can't see, so tracking is really the best way to see where you are at to adjust things accordingly. Honestly, though, I don't think you're eating enough. And the red and sweet potatoes aren't a big deal, really. I eat sweet potatoes. I figure they are better carbs than white flour bread, Pasta or crackers. All carbs and sugar are really not created equal. Natural, non processed carbs are the way to go. If it comes straight from the ground or grows in a tree or bush and goes basically right to your plate from there, eat it! Track your calories and Protein first a few days, see where you're at and adjust accordingly. I think you will need to eat more, honestly.

Well, obviously something you're doing isn't working. Change things up. Whether it's upping your excersise, upping or lowering your intake of calories, lowering carbs, sugar or processed food, something needs to change to shock your system enough to get things moving again. Sometimes just doing liquids for a few days will do the trick to get things moving again. I'm a perfect example. Although I'm below my goal weight, I had basically stopped losing a few months ago and thought my body had settled where it wanted to be without doing anything too different. Well, over the holiday season I had let too many carbs and sugar back onto my diet while allowing my excersise to decrease a little. I didn't gain luckily because I apparently was still moving enough to offset it. But I had decided to detox from the sugar and carbs and get back to basics for the New Year not really to lose weight, but to feel better and get back on track. Between cutting out sugar and white carbs and eating nothing but clean, healthy Protein and veggies and picking up my excersise again, I have lost 2 pounds the first week. I also feel better, and noticed my restriction has increased, too. I think as we get further out, we let things slip a little without even realizing it. We may think we aren't doing things too much differently, but when we start to really be honest and really track what we are or aren't doing, we can see where we are being hindered.
  16. I never technically pureed anything. Just mashed it up real good with a fork and my mouth As far as getting food soft enough to not get stuck, a little mayo mixed with yogurt, gravy's and those types of things do wonders to help mash the food and keep it moist enough to slide right down Don't overthink it too much. If it's soft and moist enough to be mashed up, there's your pureed food.
  17. If you think that's slow, you're in for a rude awakening. Your weight loss is going to slow down even more after your stall is over. And yes, the stall will pass. It's normal and happens to everyone at around the same time after surgery, and there's nothing you really can do to hurry it along but ride it out. Just stay hydrated and make sure you're getting your Protein. Try to keep your expectations about your weight loss realistc. You've done very well considering you started as a relative 'light weight'. I lost the same amount at 3 weeks out and I was heavier than you.
  18. @@MichiganChic Yay! I'm glad all went well and more importantly, it doesn't seem to be as painful as you thought. And wow! That's already quite a difference! Here's to easy healing and continued minimal pain!
  19. I watched the first half, but not the second. I did find it interesting, but not surprising, that the high Protein, "paleo" type diet was the most successful as far as weight loss the first week. And the guy was very satisfied with the program, also. I mean, who wouldn't be when you can eat steak! I like WW's. It's a great program, and just like with any other program, you've just got to follow the plan to lose weight and keep it off. I actually am a lifetime member, so obviously I wasn't successful with following program to keep what I lost off My sister has lost almost 70 pounds on WW's as I was losing my 95 with the sleeve. She actually was very successful with it, and surpassed me as far as getting to a lower weight than me ( She's 133 at 5'6" now, and I'm 140-142 at 5'5") which really chapped my ass. But now I am curious to see if she can actually KEEP it off, as this is about her 3rd go round with it. It will be an interesting study as to which one of us is more successful avoiding regain. I plan on it being ME!

  23. Funny you mention that. The kids got me a message for Christmas, and the last one I had was about a year ago when I was about 60 pounds heavier. I was thinking how nice it will be this time to not be so self conscious, although it still never stopped me from getting a message
