    How was goal weight determined?

I was being realistic. I'm close to 50, so I didn't want to get too low. I just decided on the high end of BMI for my height. Then I wanted a buffer, so I kept going and lost another 9 or 10. My OCD kicked in, and I thought why not go for the even 100 pound loss and lose 5 or 6 more pounds to get to 135, and my body said NOPE. I've been maintaining between 140-143 for about 3 months now without doing anything much differently. Apparently my body likes where I'm at, and that's okay. I like where I'm at, too Keep in mind, as you can see, your goal weight may change the closer you get or even once you get there. You kind of start doing the proverbial "how low can I go?" game. But my body ended up telling me.

    Stretched Sleeve

My Bariatric surgeon told me the sleeve will stretch a little naturally over time, but will NEVER be the size it was before surgery. That's the reason why it's so important to not just count on restriction after the initial honeymoon period. It's up to us to still eat responsibly and follow the rules basically for the rest of our lives. I know that sounds daunting, but it is what it is. We will naturally be able to eat more over time, no matter if you believe the sleeve stretches considerably or not. Not blaming the OP for her gain at all. Gaining some weight after a few years post WLS seems to be the norm from what I've seen. No need to be bummed out or panic. Just be proactive. The further out we are, the harder it is. Like I said, it is what it is I too, will have to prepare for the day. Boooo!

My 600 Pound Life: 2016 Season

@@VSGAnn2014 Funny you should mention that. The gal on this week's show had gained 40 pounds during her recovery in a matter of a few months. I honestly don't think that large of a gain in that short amount of time would have been possible with WLS. But what do I know anyway. I just post here
  5. Great post, and oh so true! We can't expect the whole world to stop just because we've had WLS. We still need to be a part of this big, wonderful world, just with a different perspective. I think the avoidance phase happens more in the beginning, honestly. I think we feel like freaks at first, not being able to eat normally. I know as time goes on and things normalize, most people understand that they can't hide away for the rest of their lives just to avoid temptation. I also think as we lose weight and see the results we get from avoiding temptation, it makes it easier to excersise self control. Then you hit maintenence and get comfortable, and it gets harder again.... Excuse me while I go into the fetal position and cry now.

My 600 Pound Life: 2016 Season

@@KristenVSG2014 What is it with the nipples on the guys?? I was telling my husband about it before we saw Derek's, and when he saw them he was perplexed. He couldn't figure out if they looked fake, too close together, or what? My husband lost 120 pounds almost 10 years ago with a RNY and has kept most of it off. He has some moobage going on, but not too bad actually. I would rather him have his little moobs than look at those freaky nipples all the time!

My 600 Pound Life: 2016 Season

@@OutsideMatchInside I know, right? But honestly, I really do admire them. Obviously, I couldn't do it without surgery, but that doesn't make my accomplishment any less. I just chose a different route to get there. But the SHOW seems to be a bit bias against WLS in my opinion.

My 600 Pound Life: 2016 Season

Okay, I'm going to just stop watching Skin Tight altogether. The 2 episodes I watched, they keep referring to all the hard work they put into losing the weight "naturally" and the "right" way by what they and their doctors say. While I admire them for their hard work, f*ck that show. I feel it is blatantly being bias against WLS. Plus like others have said, the results are sub par. I'll stick to Botched. Those surgeons on that show are damn good at what they do.
  10. @@CowgirlJane Oooo I wanna hear your theory about Making a Murderer!
  11. Making a Murderer. Binge watched the first week of January. Grrrrr! Made me ANGRY! If you were raised in the 70's* and like adult cartoon type shows, then check out Bill Burr's "F is for Family". My hubby and I accidently came upon it on Netflix, and watched all 10 (?) episodes of season 1. Hilarious! Can't wait for season 2! * I say raised in the 70's because I think those of us who were can only truly appreciate the references about growing up in that decade.

    How to attach

Instead of "post", you should see "more reply options" box. Hit that and go to choose file" and it should bring up your files of either photos, documents, etc..... Choose your document and hit "attach this file". Hope that helps!

My 600 Pound Life: 2016 Season

Yeah, I need a tummy tuck, but after watching that show and how much down time they need after surgery, I'm really having second thoughts. A little extra skin on the tummy won't hurt me I suppose

My 600 Pound Life: 2016 Season

Yes, the nipple thing does look weird on the guys. But I'll bet they would rather have close together wonky nippers than moobs. That being said, I was very impressed with the young guy from last week's results!

    Alcohol?

@@pamelardz91 No don't delete it! It's a legitimate question. What does your surgeons office say? I had my first drink at 4 months out, around the holidays. I had a Bloody Mary. It didn't even give me a buzz, and I didn't finish it. I'm not a huge drinker, though. When I do imbibe, I do wine or diet cranberry and vodka. But at 18 months out, I can count on 2 hands how many times I've drank. I guess I'd just rather eat my calories now

    Alcohol?

I am sure it was only just being mentioned to you as an FYI. Some topics set certain people off. I am sure if someone posted about puppies frolicking in a pasture of wild flowers, somebody will flip out, out there in the cyberworld. I know, right? I mean, who do those puppies think they are? Don't they know there is a wild flower crisis right now? How do you think those poor wild flowers feel being trampled on? And by swarmy, arrogant puppies who have no regard for those wild flowers' rights!

    Do You Log Your Food?

THIS THIS AND THIS.^^^ That's why when I know I'm off track, I start logging so I know what I'm doing, right or wrong. How can I possibly fix the issue if I don't know where I am on it?
  21. Babbs

    Do You Log Your Food?

Very off and on. When I feel I'm getting off track, I'll start logging religiously. When I feel I'm back on track, I'll log sporadically just to keep myself in check. I'm not disciplined enough to do it all the time, admittedly

That's awesome people are noticing already! So motivating! People always saw me in so many states of weight loss before, it took me losing about 60 pounds before people really started to say something!
