Looking mighty amazing there, young lady! Great job! -
The American Cancer Society has long understood the relationship between looking good and feeling good. They have a program called "Look Good, Feel Better" that partners with Cosmetologists and provides spa days and other services for women with cancer. I know I definitely feel much better about myself when I take the time to do my hair and makeup and accessorize on weekends and days I work from home. It's a challenge during weight loss, but I'm determined to wear clothes that fit now. I've been lost in shapeless knits and elastic waistbands for too long, and I'm ready to look as good on the outside as I know I'm going to feel on the inside. I know constantly buying clothes can get expensive, but this is a peeve of mine. As people lose weight, I feel it's SO IMPORTANT to wear clothes that fit your ever shrinking body! Not only does it just make you look more put together, it makes you FEEL more put together, thus encouraging continuing positive behaviors that got you there! Even if it's just a few nicer pieces you can mix and match until you have to buy the next size down. We lived our lives being frumpy and wearing over sized, ill fitting clothes to hide our bodies. Why continue to do that as we get smaller? We need to flaunt our confidence and success to the world!

Shoes, and lipstick, and scarves, oh my!

Careful with buying too many shoes. My feet shrank, and I lost a whole half size. -

SWEET TOOTH????????????????????????????
Babbs replied to MzStockton's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Honestly? The best way I found is just avoiding it. Sweet, sugary processed food causes cravings for more sweet, sugary processed food. Everytime I indulge, I regret it because I want more. I usually have to wean myself off of it so the cravings go away. If I'm craving chocolate or something sweet, I'll usually do a sugar free pudding or or have some fruit. Sometimes I'll even make a cup of hot chocolate using real cocoa and milk, vanilla, and artificial sweetener. Yum! Takes away my chocolate craving too! -
My mistake telling people...
Babbs replied to bsanders's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Meh. People are very ignorant when it comes to WLS. Pay no attention to the ignorant reactions. It's your body, your life. I must have resting b*tch face or something, because I have NEVER gotten a negative reaction when I tell someone. I don't give them a chance to be negative about it. I just say it very matter of factly. In the tone of this-is-what-I-did and-if-you don't-like-it-I-could-give-a flying-f*ck'. Just do that. -
HEAR YE! HEAR YE! THERE WILL BE NO MORE MEDICAL RELATED QUESTIONS ON BP.COM BECAUSE WE ARE NOT DOCTORS AND CAN'T POSSIBLY KNOW FROM OUR OWN EXPERIENCES BECAUSE OF OUR LACK OF MEDICAL DEGREE. Thanks, Management

I only know post 9/11 flying. I took my first airplane ride when I was 35 in 2002. Don't care for it at all, lol. I'm a nervous wreck anytime I fly.

This. It's kind of like being pregnant. No such thing as being just a little pregnant. You either are or you aren't.
-
Or people who are just "living their lives post weight loss surgery" and "know what has worked for them".
-
That's why sometimes, I just prefer "staycations". There's lots of things to do around Boise and Idaho that I can do and not deal with the hassle of air travel or being too far away from home!
-
How did I do it? By sticking to the plan, being patient, and trying to stay as positive as I could that this was going to work. For the record, the weight didn't just "melt" off of me. It took me almost 13 months to lose 85 pounds. Yes, I got frustrated at the slow loss and the constant stalls, but determination kept me going, and I got there. You will too! It just takes a lot of work....both emotional and physical. Things WILL get easier for you as time goes on. You are still very early out, and it's difficult to eat and drink at your stage. Keep working at it and be patient! You will look back at this post a year from now and realize how scary and frustrating this all can be early out and be happy you made it to the other side a stronger, healthier, thinner person!

Oh I'm sorry Daveo! I spoiled it for you! But the episode is so sad, it's better to be prepared actually. He was such a sweet person! I'm still tearing up about it

@@sassyfrass23 I cried too I felt HORRIBLE for his mom. But didn't you find it interesting that Dr Shaw has done 1200 surgeries, and only has lost 3 patients? I'm terrible at math, but those are some pretty low odds of death....

I think around 2006. They did the open bypass on the show until around season 4 I think. My husband had a bypass in 2006 here in the states, and he had laproscopic, but I do know with larger patients they will do open sometimes.

My 600 Pound Life: 2016 Season
Babbs replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@Inner Surfer Girl I thought about Dottie being so adamant about being there for her kids. Yeah, we all know her lamenting about not being there every second with her kids is silly because she was killing herself with food anyway, but obviously she has some MAJOR abandonment issues after what her mother did to her. She was so worried about doing to her kids what her mom did to her, she couldn't even be rational. I really feel for her and hope she gets the help she needs to deal with her issues. I really hope she continues to lose weight, too. Those poor kids need their momma. -
Veterans - What Size are You After Weight Loss?
Babbs replied to careya123's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My goal was to be an 8, but ultimately ended up a solid size 6. I'm sure I'm still and 8 in some clothes, the sizing is so wonkey! I just kept losing until my body said STOP! So I did, and now am maintaining -
And there it is, ladies and gentlemen. This is the reason people gain weight after repeating what Jamie did day after day when we get further out, NOT stretching the sleeve. I have a sneaky suspicion people get grazing all day and sleeve stretching confused. The further out we are, the more tolerant we are to most foods, get a bit hungrier, a bit more comfortable, and that coupled with crappy eating causing even more hunger leads to grazing with us thinking we are eating more because of a stretched sleeve. I guarantee most people, even years out, can still only eat at the most 2 cups of food in a sitting. 6-8 cups of food a day will not cause weight gain. As a matter of fact, it's still less than what a person who hasn't had surgery eats when they're on a diet! So thank you Jamie, for being the guinea pig and proving that yes, even without a 'stretched sleeve', you can in fact eat a large amount of calories if we really want to.
