Although it wasn't a requirement for my insurance, my surgeon asked I get a sleep study done because I DID snore. Well, my lovely insurance denied the sleep study. I BEGGED my surgeon to do the surgery anyway, pleading the case that I was "only" a 39 BMI at the time, had no other symtoms, and more than likely didn't have sleep apnea. He agreed to move forward without one. After my surgery in the hospital, every time I dozed off, the blood oxygen alarms would go off, so I ended up having to be on oxygen the whole time. Ooops. Well, I don't have it anymore, and that's all that matters

Good to see I have some of the same habits you have at 18 months out. I also eat very similar to you. I would say the only thing I need to work on is the Water. I drink low calorie/no calorie drinks, but even then not enough and definitely not enough just regular ol' water! You have inspired me to work on that.

That's so funny and spot on. It reminds me of British comedian Stephen Fry's rage quitting Twitter the other day and what he said about it. Which in my opinion, is also spot on: "Oh goodness, what fun twitter was in the early days, a secret bathing-pool in a magical glade in an enchanted forest. It was glorious ‘to turn as swimmers into cleanness leaping.’ We frolicked and water-bombed and sometimes, in the moonlight, skinny-dipped. We chattered and laughed and put the world to rights and shared thoughts sacred, silly and profane. But now the pool is stagnant. It is frothy with scum, clogged with weeds and littered with broken glass, sharp rocks and slimy rubbish. If you don’t watch yourself, with every move you’ll end up being gashed, broken, bruised or contused. Even if you negotiate the sharp rocks you’ll soon feel that too many people have peed in the pool for you to want to swim there any more. The fun is over. To leave that metaphor, let us grieve at what twitter has become. A stalking ground for the sanctimoniously self-righteous who love to second-guess, to leap to conclusions and be offended – worse, to be offended on behalf of others they do not even know. It’s as nasty and unwholesome a characteristic as can be imagined. It doesn’t matter whether they think they’re defending women, men, transgender people, Muslims, humanists … the ghastliness is absolutely the same. It makes sensible people want to take an absolutely opposite point of view. I’ve heard people shriek their secularism in such a way as to make me want instantly to become an evangelical Christian."

Yup. Me too. I try to eat as clean as possible.

Yeah, what's wrong with lube? As a posmenopausal woman, lube is my friend! Interesting subject, though!

Dolly wrote it. Dolly sings it better. End of discussion. Just kidding. I agree, Whitney's version is goose bump worthy. But MAN they overplayed that song when she passed! But really, Dolly rules. She's my personal hero, and I love her. -

Getting sleeved tomorrow 2/17 any tips or advice?
Babbs replied to shelly7's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
BE PATIENT. Being uncomfortable will pass. Being tired and worn out will pass. Yes, you will be able to eat normally again. No, you won't be able to get all your Protein or fluids in at first. Fluids are more important early out, so work harder on that. Your body will lose at its own pace. Don't compare yourself to everyone else. And yes, the larger losses at first do slown down to more normal weight loss after a few weeks. You will have your first stall about 3-6 weeks out. It's normal, and you're not doing anything wrong. Congrats and enjoy living your new life! -

♫ You don't have to be lonely, at FarmersOnly.com♫ Ha! Now you'll never get that song out of your heads! -
I have not changed or lost any friends. They all eat what they want, I eat what I want. Like B-52 said, they admire me for taking control of my life. IF there happed to be someone who had an issue with my surgery, the way I look at it they were not true friends to begin with.

Is it normal for weight loss to slow down
Babbs replied to lesley_vsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Of course! You weren't really expecting to lose 30 pounds a month were you? That wouldn't be very healthy! Weight loss normalizes to 2-5 pounds a week after your initial large losses. Sounds to me like you've done just phenomenal so far! -

Should you get WLS if you are lazy with no plans to follow the program?
Babbs replied to Tootsietoes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yup. Sometimes it's just the kick start some people need to finally change. As long as they understand they HAVE to change to make it work in the long run. -

@@Daisee68 That's a great point. I just recently at almost 19 months out stopped having 1 every morning for breakfast. I also notice it's still very hard to get all my Protein in without one! -

When Does the Scale Tell You It’s Panic Time?
Babbs replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Gosh, i'd hate to disagree with someone who has obviously done very well and has been in maintenence a lot longer than I have, but I'm a daily weigher at 18 months out. I feel I can start to be proactive BEFORE I see that 5 extra pounds that may sneak up on me in a couple weeks without weighing. When I'm up 2 or 3, I do some adjustments until back to my comfort zone. It may change when I'm a little further out like you, but for now weighing daily works for me. But what do I know. I'm still a relative noob with maintenence -

I love Tony Bennett so..... In San Francisco (home of the World's Most Beautiful Ballpark), when the Giants win a home game, they play "I left My Heart in San Francisco". Yes, ma'am . I'm originally from the Bay Area. I still miss it, so that song makes me cry when I hear it.
