Our Dr said we might could except more like 20-25 the first 2 weeks. I just was concerned she was eating too much or not enough or something Sent from my BLU LIFE ONE using the BariatricPal App That doctor is smoking crack. How much does your wife weigh? Did she start with a super high BMI? I think you would only lose that much if you were super morbidly obese to start with? Sounds to me like she's doing great. And it's sweet you're so supportive, too.

This ^^^^^ It's expensive to eat healthy!

Are you tracking Protein, carbs and calories? Getting at least 80 grams of protein a day and making sure you eat protein first before anything else? Are you moving and getting your heart rate up on a regular basis? Are you mostly staying away from processed sugar and carbs? Are you getting at least 64oz of no calorie/low calorie Fluid a day? If you answered "no" to any or all of those questions, then try all of those and see how you do. You've lost the weight, you can lose the regain! You've got this!

Woo hoo ISG!! You are just doing stupendously! Great NSV!

Well my goodness congrats on your 5 years! I'd say only a 10 pound gain is a huge success! You've done awesome maintaining! Sounds like you know what you need to do. Obviously you have to shake things up a little to start losing again. Just back to the basic rules of WLS and moving more You got this!

TMI, embarassing re: TT/Panniculectomy
Babbs replied to Heather I's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
It's pulled tight with the TT/Panni. It's kind of part of the whole surgery from what I understand. -
Are guys actually checking me out at the gym?
Babbs replied to Steph0625's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I'm old. I don't get "checked out" much anymore. I guarantee you're getting checked out -
Back to the basics of WLS. Protein first, then veggies, then and ONLY then if you have room, some starch. But honestly you should stay away from processed carbs, sugars and food during the losing phase. Track every single bite of food that goes into your mouth. Know how many calories you need to actually make enough of a deficit to lose weight. Drink at least 64 oz of low calorie/no calorie Fluid every day Move more! It's not easy to get back into the groove of things when things have gone awry, but it can be done. Once you do it long enough, it becomes habit again. Good Luck!

@@Lara.x You're going to be surprised when you just eat Protein and a few veggies you won't have much physical hunger at all. Also, protein helps keep you satisfied longer and burns more calories to digest, too

Waist trainers.....what's the scoop?

And to add, my waist trainer is my gym and a good ol pair of running shoes. -
Waist trainers.....what's the scoop?
Babbs replied to sassyfrass23's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Waist trainers are just a fad. Nothing more. Nothing less. -
Are you talking about white bread, crackers and Cookies and stuff like that? Because dairy, fruits and veggies have carbs too. Just healthier kinds of carbs. The best way to not crave the processed carbs of bread, Pasta, crackers and so forth is to stop them all together and the cravings will also stop. Same with sugar. It's hard kicking it, but once you're over the hump it gets easier and you don't miss it.

Estimated post-op weight loss chart
Babbs replied to Talaria's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like that chart. It shows REALISTIC losses expected. I honestly don't understand where people get their thinking that they are going to lose 100 pounds in 3 months.... That being said, I've seen many go above and beyond what this chart indicates, also. Although I felt my loss was on the slow side compared to some, according to this I was ahead of schedule. I lost 85 pounds in 1 year -

Have you read The Emotional First Aid Kit by Cynthia Alexander? It's a great little read about dealing with the emotions surrounding food and how to cope with it. I've read it several times, and I still refer back when I need a quick "tune up".

Conflicting Information From Doctors/Patients And My Fears
Babbs replied to Hey Man's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really think he's asking the right questions. Like I said before, there have been people who put more thought into buying a car. I had the same concerns. It just took me actually having the surgery to finally see the light. Some "get it", some don't and never will. For the latter, the results of the surgery will sadly be only temporary. -
Conflicting Information From Doctors/Patients And My Fears
Babbs replied to Hey Man's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Hey Man Losing weight is such a SMALL part of WLS. It's actually the EASY part. We get very short sighted as newly sleeved or bypassed patients. It's all about the scale, how fast we are losing, stressing about stalls or small fluctuations in out weight. But the main thing we should be focusing on is how we can change our eating habits enough to keep the weight we lost off and live a healthy, happy life. At almost 2 years out, I can eat SO MUCH MORE than I could even a year out. I find myself over eating frequently, and have to actually force myself to weigh and measure most of the time to prevent it. I feel almost like I didn't have surgery at times. ESPECIALLY when it comes to snacking. I have to be very mindful. This is the reason I am choosing to eat edamame instead of chips for a snack, or eat a chocolate Greek yogurt as opposed to a cookie or two or three (because that's what it will end up being) I couldn't utilize moderation before surgery, so what makes me think it will work for me now that I feel like I can eat almost normal amounts of food? It won't. If I did a cookie here and a few chips there, I guarantee it won't stop there because I don't have my precious restriction and lack of hunger to count on anymore. That leads to weight gain. Ask anyone who has gained weight back, they will be the first ones to admit it. Like I said, it's not the amount of food that makes us successful, it's ultimately what we choose to eat that does when the honeymoon is over. -
And this ^^^^ You need Protein right now, not that crap.
-
I didn't want anything to hinder my weight loss, so I stayed away until I was close to goal. Even now I eat it sparingly and only whole grains. Nothing white and never Pasta. It's that shit that made us fat in the first place!

Conflicting Information From Doctors/Patients And My Fears
Babbs replied to Hey Man's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you being sarcastic or do you mean that? Why do you feel I would do well with the surgery. No, I mean it. Just the idea that you're even thinking so much about it and asking questions means to me that you would be committed enough to it. I've seen people do more research buying a car than they did having WLS. And they struggle. -

How much water do you drink?
Babbs replied to Andrea72's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, 64 oz is usually the norm. Don't forget there's also liquid in the various things we eat, too, so if you're getting at least your 64 you're doing just fine
