    Al Roker

Not everyone who had gastric bypass dumps. My husband had it 10 years ago and has never dumped. Plus I think Al Roker is like 14 years out from surgery. And yes, he shat his pants at the White House not long after his surgery. Never trust a fart!
  3. @@GinaCampbell After reading your last post, I have come to the conclusion that you were WOEFULLY unprepared for this surgery. I did about 2 MONTHS of research, and knew that every thing you listed just aren't correct. For instance, it's common knowledge that people with GERD run the risk of it getting worse with the sleeve. The bypass is usually the cure as a rule, not the sleeve. I knew it, had it anyway. Yes, I suffer with severe GERD, but I take the good with the bad, you know? Am I going to go around moping about it the rest of my life, or make the best of it? I choose the latter, because life is just too damn short. It's also common knowledge that you run the risk of having gall bladder problems after bariatric surgery. I can count dozens of people on this site and in real life who had theirs taken out post bariatric surgery. There's many threads about it. You're not an anomaly. I DO agree that I think doctors should address the issue better by just removing them during surgery to prevent future problems. Diarrhea is VERY common early out. I had it for months straight. I would question any doctor who said that having a bariatric procedure would resolve the issue?? And yes, there will be a time when you can eat pretty much whatever you want if you choose. That was the point of the McDonald's story, which you missed entirely. If that wasn't the case, then how do people gain all their weight back? It's certainly from enjoying too much of the foods they shouldn't be eating, correct? For someone who has stated a blatant mistrust for the NHS many times, you sure weren't willing to practice any of your own due diligence and just take these surgeons word for it. It's quite baffling, actually. I honestly wish you nothing but the best, and hope you can come to peace with the physical and emotional issues you're having.
  4. Or maybe people are tired of you starting or going into every thread complaining about how much you regret the surgery? We get it. You regret the surgery. Move on. What the hell can you do about it now?? And how short sighted does someone have to be to realize it's not always going to be this way? When you have a 2 year old child, do you say they are still going to be throwing tantrums and not be potty trained when they're 20? Of course not. Things change and progress. Just like with this surgery. Yes, there will be a time when you will be able to eat more. Yes, there will be a time when you can eat whatever you want without feeling like sh*t. Yes, there will be time when you can pretty much ignore the fact you've had surgery and do whatever you want again once you've healed up. Yes, even your fairly normal complications will get better with time. I barely even know I've had surgery now at 2 years out with the amounts I can eat. Yes, NORMAL amounts if I really work at it. I feel completely normal. You're frikken 9 weeks out. Give yourself time to heal up and you can move on with your life like nothing ever happened. Jeez.
  5. Google the 5:2 plan. I've tried it for a week, and I've lost 2 of the 5 I've regained that was partially due to my hormones being out of whack (along with other things). Oh, I'll be 2 years out in August.
  6. That's how I quit 2 months before my surgery! I gradually decreased the nicotine to 0. The surgeon asked I stop vaping a week before surgery to clear out my lungs. By then I'd lost all interest in vaping after surgery. Now smoke (and vape) free for over 2 years The vape was the most awesome way to quit smoking!
  7. Seriously?? You just didn't suggest this member "ignore her surgeon"??????? IN MY OPINION: NEVER Ignore your surgeon---ever. I MEANT ignore his unrealistic weight loss goals he's expecting. It's obviously making her feel like a complete failure, which she's not. And why don't you just shut the f*ck up for once? Everyone is so sick of you. You know that, right? IN MY OPINION you are the most obnoxiously passive aggressive person I've ever seen. FRIEND.
  8. Oh, and he can't possibly expect you to keep the same pace weight loss as the first month. It naturally slows down with time to more "average" losses of 2-4 pounds a week. Someone your weight can expect an average of 2 pounds a week. Sometimes more, sometimes less. It won't be linear, that's for sure.
  9. Your surgeon is an ass. I can't believe he put that unrealistic goal on you. I started the same weight you did and I didn't lose 50 pounds until 5 months. You've lost over 30 pounds in not even 2 1/2 months out. That's averaging like 12 pounds a month! That's phenomenal. Stop beating yourself up and keep up your Protein and fluids and make sure you're moving and trust the process. Oh, and ignore your surgeon.

    A Little More Control

Good job! Getting over the hump the first few days always seems to be the hardest, but once you do, it seems to get easier to get back on track. You'll feel less hungry and tighten up that pouch a bit making it easier to stay the course. You can do it!

Hair loss #2 at 14 months out?!

I did! From months 4-8 and then again at a year to about 16 months. I'll admit it was because I was slacking on my vitamins. As soon as I ramped those up again, it stopped and hasn't returned thank God! At almost 2 years out, my hair is back to pre surgery thickness.
  12. There are tons of people who've had band to sleeve revisions who have been very successful. I'm sure if you did a search you could find many, many threads about it in this forum. It's pretty common, actually.
  13. @@Djmohr So excited for you! I'll be thinking about you on Thursday. Keep us posted when you feel up to it on how you're doing! Congrats!
  14. I would go as low as you can healthily go as most people experience some natural regain a couple to three years out.

    Beach-Bikini Day

This is my favorite post, ever. Girl, you got it going on!
  17. Here's the thing, though. At almost 2 years out my appetite has come back and sometimes feel as if I can eat pre surgery quantities. I'm sure not, but sure feel like I can. People don't seem to understand that the full effect of these surgeries are really only temporary. My husband is 10 years out RNY and he eats like a normal person now. I can't imagine by the time I'm elderly the surgery would have any effect on me or my appetite by then.
  18. Have you never had surgery before? It takes a good 6 weeks to heal and feel somewhat normal again. There's going to be good days and bad. Me personally felt worse at around day 3 or 4 after each surgery. Take it easy and let yourself heal. You just had major surgery!
  19. @@CHM I think I've found your appetite. Do you want it back? I think I'm done with it.

    today i felt too skinny.

You're not skinny. You look like a small framed person with a tiny waste who is healthy. It took me until recently ( 2 years out) to finally accept where I'm at and stop with the mind games and just enjoy feeling and looking fabulous. I hope you get there soon, too.

    Crackers

The programs really are all so different! I'm glad I stay mostly away from them. Eating that stuff is what got me fat in the first place, and staying mostly away is what got me to goal. But what do I know? *Shrug*

    Crackers

I just honestly was feigning a bit of surprise at your program allowing crackers and tortillas so early out is all. But you didn't disappoint with the defensive newby post. I should learn to just expect it now. Carry on and eat your crackers to your hearts content.
  23. Edited because I obviously can't say one thing anymore without completely offending people. I'm done responding to posts. You all can Celebrate now.

    Crackers

Also, I would stay away from the seedy crackers for now. I was told no little seeds for at least 3 months because of them lodging into the staples.
