How can I accelerate weight loss?

The lower the BMI, the slower the weight loss. Patience, Grasshopper.
  7. How in the f*ck do you think people feel about their weight?? I can't imagine they would be just fine and dandy with it. Why be reminded? Now I am starting to wonder if your 'concern' for the health of your friends daughter is something different. Leave the poor kid alone about her weight for god sakes! If she has a legitimate medical issue, then deal with it. If it's just she's overweight and needs to learn about health and nutrition, give her guidance and encouragement about it and then SHUT UP. .No wonder there are so many people out there who feel they are' less than' because of their weight problem. They know they are fat. They don't have to be reminded of it constantly and harassed about it.

    No longer answering these questions:

Let's be honest. Some members are simply looking for validation to eat around their surgeries as opposed to information. You stick around long enough, you'll be able to spot the difference.

  12. You have to FORCE yourself to drink, whether you like it or not. You will end up in the hospital with dehydration otherwise. At first, this surgery is more about healing and staying hydrated, not weight loss. Force the fluids down, and force yourself to eat....for your health. Your weight loss is amazing for the first week, but understand it will slow down and even stall in the next few weeks. Don't panic when it happens. It's completely normal. Take care of yourself! Drink! And eat! One of the biggest parts of this whole thing is learning to love and care for ourselves.

    Anyone eating with no restrictions

You're doing awesome! Just understand that it's normal as things heal up and our stomachs or pouches (if you're bypass) relax a bit and continue to do so years out. So as you see, we can't always count on restriction alone to help us lose and then maintain the weight. We still have to make good choices and use PORTION control. Weigh and measure so you're not in danger of overeating and sabotaging your weight loss. Remember, just because you CAN, doesn't mean you SHOULD.

    You all lied!

You're going through a completely normal phase. Old habits die hard. It will pass, and there's going to be a time where you actually get grossed out by what people are eating and how much, lol. You learn to adapt and find foods that satisfy you while everyone else is pigging out, lol. You're going to feel so great, you really won't want to ruin it by blowing it with bad choices. This will pretty much continue through the honeymoon period more or less (not saying cravings and hunger don't happen at all, but LESS during that time). Then you will hit maintenence, and new struggles begin. Lol. Did I mention I want to punch anyone who says we took the "easy" way out??
  15. I also want to add this: Please don't focus on how your husband has to lose weight. I know you had said it's on him, but I've seen as people start to lose weight, they feel so great and at that point kind of cocky about it, they have a tendency to hyper focus on a loved ones weight problem. Please never forget what it took for us to decide to lose weight and the extreme measures we had to take to finally do it. It's the same with our loved ones. They know they need to lose weight, they know it's not healthy to be obese, and they will deal with it when they're ready to. Focus on yourself, lead by example, and hubby may follow suit. But don't harass him about it. And yes, what you're feeling about being "left out" is VERY common. Even months after surgery, like I'd said before. But always remember in the grand scheme of things, it's such a short amount of time. You'll be so happy living life as a thinner person, you'll be out doing everything in no time!
  16. Look, we live in a non bariatric friendly world. There's parties, holidays, events, restaurants around every corner, work functions, movies, graduations....everything seems to revolve around food. We can't expect the world to stop because we had the surgery, because it certainly won't. We have to commit to making the changes ourselves and adapting to the world around us. Sure, the pre op diet is hard, then first few weeks after surgery when you are on liquids or soft food and feel more like a patient than a normal person. But in the grand scheme of things, it's such a short amount of time. Once you're eating 'normal' food again, there should be nothing stopping you from going out to breakfast and doing all those things mentioned above. You just have to learn to make the right choices when you do. You certainly could have gone with them and had some eggs and even a peice of bacon or two. That's what I have when I go to breakfast all the time! I've NEVER missed an opportunity to go out and have a good time just because I had WLS. Now I just focus more on the company and not the food, and my life is so much better for it. In the end, it's on us to make the changes needed to succeed, not anyone else. I've adapted, you will too.

    Back in the race

So excited for you! You won't regret it!
  18. No. I chickened out, lol. I had a loan ready to go and everything for a panniculectomy and implants with a lift. I'm just not up for another surgery and the lengthy recovery at this time. I may change my mind later, who knows. If I were 20 or even 10 years younger, I probably would have done it in a heartbeat, but being almost 50 and married for almost 28 years, I can live with it for now
  19. No insurance would cover a VSG with 21 BMI. They have VERY specific requirements. And you don't meet them. Why are you doing this? I'm done here. Although entertaining, not worth my time. I'll just wait for Alex to bring down the ban hammer on your again.
  20. What is your deal? Between this forum and the other one you posted on, you got dozens of answers. If you were legit, that would have been sufficient. But noooooo. You just gotta come back for more? Are you lonely or something?
