    Stall After 2 Weeks

What you are going through is so common, it has a name. The Dreaded 3 Week Stall. Totally normal, and happens to 99% of us. There are literally hundreds of threads in these forums about it. Fear not! It may last a week or 2, but if you keep doing what you are doing, you will start losing again as soon as it's over! Ms Mac says it best..."Stalls are like lovers. Your first won't be your last". Lol.

    Snack ideas?

@@Miaoreo I am so surprised I don't see these mentioned more in these threads! I have been buying these for a couple of years now, even before surgery when I would do my low carb thing. They are my "go to" for a quick snack or even for lunch or dinner with some tuna salad, egg salad, etc...they are DELICIOUS, and although some may worry about the carb content, like you said, there's NO WAY I can eat a whole serving! Usually half a serving, so about 10 or so grams of carbs. No worries!

    Diet Cheating!

See. Smart and spunky Just look at this as one of the many bumps in the road on the journey ahead. Take care of yourself. You deserve it!

    Diet Cheating!

I know I sounded harsh, and may have even offended a few people by it, including you. What I took issue with is not the fact that you were "cheating", but the fact that you are only TWO WEEKS OUT and you are eating things that could harm your stomach and almost have a "Well yeah I'm eating this crap by dammit I need to do this" attitude. You have got to look at your new tummy like a baby's. You have to follow your plan in order for it to heal properly. Nobody is perfect, and I wasn't saying that. I'm just saying for goodness sake have enough self respect to take care of yourself the way you need to in order for this surgery to be successful. And eating sharp, crunchy stuff at 2 weeks out is not the way to do it. You seem very smart and spunky. I KNOW you can do this!

    Diet Cheating!

I'm sorry but I'm going to say something kind if blunt. I see people on these boards who want this surgery so badly, but either can't get their surgery covered by insurance or can't afford it. How DARE you squander this wonderful, often life saving gift that was given to you by continuing to make bad food choices and choosing to not follow program. It is apparent you were not ready for the drastic life change this surgery requires, and I find that very sad. Sad for you, but mostly sad for the people who want this surgery so desperately and would do really well with it if given the chance.
  6. I will be 3 months November 22. I can relate with the grocery store! Shopping is torture. Nothing looks good, so I'm eating the same things over and over. I have been on a major seafood kick. It really has been the few things that agree with me. A lot of talapia, shrimp, tuna, and crab. Chicken is hard to eat. So is some beef. I am still completely staying away from junk food and carbs. Feeling pretty darn good! I also walk 5-6 times a week. No hair loss as of yet.....

    Smoking....

Oh boy. Don't open up this can of worms topic. All the anti-smoking Nazi's come out..trust me, LOL. Here's the deal. I feel for you. I've been there! People who have not smoked have NO IDEA what a hard of an addiction cigs are. Yes, even worse than food. At least you can still eat! Don't believe me? My cousin was in a terrible car accident years back, and was in a coma for TWO WEEKS. Guess what the first thing she asked for when she woke up? Yup, you got it. She wanted a cigarette. That story aside, I knew I needed to quit before surgery because it could hinder healing properly, and quite frankly, I was doing the surgery to get healthier, and how do cigarettes fit into that equation, anyway? I started using a vaper cig in May and started tapering down the nicotine each week until I was at 0. It gave me the satisfaction of smoking without all the horrible chemicals and nicotine. One day in early June I realized I hadn't even thought about the vaper cig all day, and that was that! I had quit smoking! Had my surgery in August and I haven't looked back! I'm really proud I chose to have this surgery and get healthy, but I'm most proud of quitting a 20+ year smoking habit. If I can do it, ANYONE can! Good Luck to you!
  8. Had my surgery on a Friday and was released on that Sunday. Same amount of time as you will be. Good luck to you!
  9. Like the saying goes: "As you we grow up, we realize it's less important to have a ton of friends, and more important to have REAL ones" Weed out the ones who are negative and keep the ones you know are truly happy and supportive of you. Simple as that. It has made my life happier and drama free
  10. Shopping the other day, I griped (jokingly) to the sales clerk about not having a certain top I wanted in extra large. I broke down and bought a large, thinking "I will be able to wear it soon enough". I got home, tried it on, and it FIT! I was wearing size 1X top at my largest
  11. You must be young and have no kids. Doesn't matter how thin I get, NOBODY wants to see my midriff
  12. It's tough, but something you are just going to have to deal with. Those of us who have issues with food have it harder than some other addictions. When you are an alcoholic or addicted to some other drug and in "recovery", you are encouraged to steer clear of any "bad influences" you associate with so you aren't tempted to use. With food, people still have to eat. You can't force others to adhear to the strict regimen that those of us going through this process have to do. I'm 2 and a half months out, and there have been many, many times I watch my friends and family eat and drink things I cannot. Instead of feeling "sabotaged", I feel empowered knowing I'm doing what I need to do right now to get healthy. Once you start looking at it that way, it becomes second nature to be around others who are partaking in things we know we shouldn't.
  13. I could eat a whole egg too, and it left me satisfied but not too full You're doing great! Keep up the good work!

    Pre-op Questions

Good! I'm on the...um...older side (47) so it's a little slower than some, but I just hit ONEderland this week! So 37lbs down since August 22nd! Slow and steady wins the race Good Luck and good healing on your upcoming surgery!

    Pre-op Questions

I was pleasantly surprised when I too didn't have the 2 week pre op diet. I asked the doctor about needing to "shrink the liver" for the surgery, and he told me that at a recent conference he had gone to, the result was so minimal that it didn't really make a difference one way or the other. I was Clear Liquids the day before, and nothing after midnight the day of surgery. It was awesome because I had a great dinner out with my hubby 2 days before surgery of steak, loaded baked potato and beer
  16. From the looks of your list, sounds like you got this! Don't worry too much about the pain, sweetie. They give you good drugs for that The most important thing right after surgery is sip sip sip your water and liquids and get up and WALK as soon as you can (you will probably get really familiar with the halls of the hospital by the time you go home). Believe it or not, walking will make you feel so much better! You will not be able to take in much at first, so I just advise you do the best you can to stay hydrated! Congratulations on your new life and keep us all updated on your progress! You got this!!

What Causes Appetite Loss after WLS?

Same...that's actually when I know it's time to eat. I have never lost my appetite. I just eat to live now, not live to eat
  18. Another week or so you should start feeling better each day. I didn't really start feeling "normal" til about 4 or 5 weeks.
  19. Well, of course you could pretty much puree some turkey and potatoes together If you want to have some potatoes, add some protein powder to them. Sweet potatoes, even some pureed green bean casserole would be good. You actually have some good protein choices with a Thanksgiving meal Stay away from the pies and stuffing and worry about your protein.
  20. Not at all! The right clothes have a tendency to hide all kinds of things and make you look fabulous in them! Just watch "What Not to Wear" and be amazed!
  21. I kind of suffer from the opposite. I still have 50lbs or so to go, but I see collar bones and hip bones finally and have a tendency to think I'm smaller than I am. I keep trying to squeeze my ass into smaller jeans because I'm impatient and this is just taking entirely too long!
  22. I left mine on for about 2 weeks and had a terrible reaction to it. I had these icky sores for weeks where the tape was. I must have been allergic or something...
  23. Do you mean an alcoholic drink?! 20 days out is too soon to be drinking! Your stomach is still healing, and you need to stick with your post op diet. You are risking a leak if you don't allow your new little tummy to heal properly. And yes, soups would be great to order...as long as its okay with your doctor at that time. You may have a hard time watching everyone else eat and drink I think. Just sayin'.

    Scheduled eating?

I do. I eat breakfast around 7 or 8, first snack at 10:00, lunch at noon, second snack at 3:00 and dinner at 5 or 6. Only "snack" I do after dinner is a cup of tea or coffee So basically eating every 2-3 hours.
