Hey, some of us aren't getting any younger...we do shrink as we get older, you know
-
I'm sorry You DO deserve better. Don't allow people to treat you that way! This is one of my favorite sayings by Eleanor Roosevelt: "Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent" Don't give them your consent! You are worth it.

What are your favorite things to wear now that the weight is gone?
Babbs replied to abbyrn27's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Boots, boots and more boots! My calves are now small enough to wear any boot I want! Loving my leggings and high boots -
What shocks you now that you were able to eat in a sitting?
Babbs replied to JALUVIC's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
As was I. We may THINK we aren't "eating that much", but I'll bet if we actually documented like we do now the amount of calories, fat grams, sugar grams, etc...YIKES! And I own up to it %100 now. I tell people "I know why I got/get fat....it's not family history, glandular, metabolism etc...(although I do know those contribute also) but too much food and not enough movement. Period." -

This thread just proves that many of those overweight/obese people who say "I don't understand why I'm fat! I don't eat THAT much!" are full of it! -
I have not lost any hair, but my hair has dried out quite a bit and is breaking at the ends. I had to have an inch cut off yesterday just to deal with the broken ends Don't get me wrong, I'm happy I haven't lost any yet!

Yup, my surgeon told me a tell tale sign of people gaining their weight back after surgery is they start drinking sodas and beer again (diet or otherwise). It stretches the pouch. Oh, and I'm editing to add I quit smoking 6 months ago for my surgery, and quitting diet soda was by far harder

Yup, what @@Elode said...ketosis. Even though it gives you breath that could kill a rhino, it just means you're burning fat! Yay, right? If it really is bothering you, you could stop the process dead in its tracks by upping your carbs a little, but why mess with getting rid of fat, right? Mine did subside after a while if it makes you feel any better

Started purée diet today. Help!
Babbs replied to alyssadietrch's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Eggs may have to be something you have to hold off on for a while...although I never had an issue with them, some people have a hard time with them getting "stuck". You may have to wait another month to try again! -

9 months out, my story.
Babbs replied to Lindsayloo1103's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You look incredible! A true inspiration! Thanks for the tip on lifting, although I think being 22 helps with your skin bouncing back a little, too You were beautiful then, and even more so now -

Take a walk, read, knit, craft, play with your kids, take a nap, shop, drink water, watch a movie, walk your dog... -
I'm over 3 month out, and it's completely normal to gain a pound or so here or there. Your body is adjusting. A gain of a pound are part of my stalls. It sucks, but it's not the end if the world. I'm a slow loser too, and would stall often, so something I tried recently was upping my protein with food (not shakes) and upping my calories. It worked. I lost 4 lbs that week. I'm convinced I wasn't eating enough, and that contributed to my gains and stalls. At 2 months out, you may find it difficult to eat more, but maybe if you try upping your calories with protein, you will lose a little faster? Everyone is different though....

Convenience foods made me fat. These food are keeping me thin.
Babbs replied to LipstickLady's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Beef Jerky is a total "go to" for me, also! I did notice one day that beef jerky really has the same nutritional stats as turkey jerky, so I just stick to the beef jerky. I like the texture better Just make sure to chew it well! -

You made me feel better about what I'm eating and snacking on, because your list is almost identical to mine! You do an "Atkins" type of eating, as do I. Sometimes I felt guilty eating full fat cheese and mayo, but it obviously has worked for you, and it's still working for me at 3 and a half months out. The only thing I don't do is the frozen mini quiche. I'm going to try that! Thanks! -
You'll be fine. It's actually good for you to move around and do your own stuff. Just don't lift anything. If you need to lift something, wait until someone else can do it for you

What a wonderful year it's been!
Babbs replied to Kindle's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I ditto what Bobbyswife said. You have always been an inspiration to me since I've been on this site. I really enjoy your simple, no nonsense attitude about your surgery, and it obviously is working for you. Like you, I am a proponent of not keeping my surgery a secret and not hesitating to tell anyone who asks about it to educate them about WLS. Aside from your bumps in the road, I can only hope my first year is as successful and satisfying as yours has been. On a side note...YOUR STOMACH AND ARMS LOOK AMAZING!! -
Have you tried scrambled eggs yet? Greek yogurt? You are approved for soft foods now, correct?
-
Completely normal. So normal, it even has a name: "The Dreaded Three Week Stall". Keep trying to find soft proteins you can tolerate, get all your liquids in, and it will pass. Most all of us have gone through it! Hang in there!
-
Ha!
-
I'm a little over 3 months out, and I tolerate well chewed almonds very well. I am waiting on seeds, though...I just picture them getting lodged somewhere in my sleeve....***shudder***
-
Will I Ever Be Normal Again? I'm miserable! 12 days post op.
Babbs replied to Sleeve101's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is no doubt about it...the first 2 weeks pretty much SUCK. Make sure to see your surgeon to see if in fact you are healing properly, and make sure to get your fluids in no matter what it takes! I look at that first couple weeks the same way as being in labor...it sucks while you're going through it, but the end result is worth it and soon it will all be a distant memory -
Beautifully stated and honest. You are going to do just fine. You have an amazing attitude and know exactly what to do. You did it before, and you'll do it again! And congrats on the weight loss you've already accomplished!
