Oooooh! I forgot my new favorite guilty pleasure! Shark Tank!
-
I have pretty much given up on finding a show I love after Breaking Bad, although I should give some of those listed above a try. Waiting with baited breath for Better Call Saul!

Yes, it gets better. The first 3 to 6 weeks pretty much suck. Do what you're supposed to do, and you will soon find your normal. It just takes time. I compare the first month to going through labor. It's terrible as you're going through it, but soon you will forget all about it and see the end result is worth it

Really? You're complaining about your weight loss and then say you're not exercising and not getting your protein in? Get 30 minutes of exercise 3-5 days a week, eat a minimum 70 grams of protein a day, keep your carbs at 50 grams or lower a day, and drink 64oz of water a day. Try that and you should see the weight coming off at the pace your body wants it to.

3 weeks post op only lost 15 lbs ????
Babbs replied to hootney1214's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
When was the last time you lost 15 lbs in 3 weeks? Do me a favor and just STAY OFF THE SCALE for a while and concentrate on your protein and liquids and getting healed up. You are also in the 3 week stall period of time. Your body has to adjust to the fast weight loss and take a little break. Stay the course, stay off the scale, and continue to heal. You're doing just fine -
One Month Down...all the rest to go!
Babbs replied to Bob B's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sounds like you're doing great! Keep up the good work! -
Is this the show about the idiotic British woman who thinks that losing weight is as easy as cutting calories and exercising and has never had a weight problem her whole life except when she deliberately puts on weight? Yeah, I'll pass. I have no interest in listening to some IDIOT who doesn't know what she's talking about and has no understanding of the actual disease of obesity. So there.

And then sometimes all you can do is stay the course and wait for the stall to pass. Our bodies are going to do what they are going to do, and if you are truly doing everything you should be doing, the stall will break eventually....

I`m so ready for this, my weight really is my misery!
Babbs replied to EnglishDan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I still follow a low carb, high Protein diet. I'm getting ready to go to the gym right now for my 40 minute circuit training workout. I drink 60 oz of Water a day. Which part if this is easy? No, really. It will be one of the best decisions you ever made. Good luck and keep us posted! -
Congratulations ONEderland!! Woo hoo!

I said it before and I'll say it again. I have lost weight many, many times in my life. Losing weight is easy. KEEPING it off is what I struggled with. Now at almost 50 lbs down post surgery, I know I have more than a fighting chance of not gaining this weight back in a matter if months if I follow the rules of the sleeve. I didn't have this surgery just to lose weight ( that's just icing on the cake) but to be in control of what and how much I put into my mouth for the rest of my life to maintain a healthy weight. Fear and doubt are normal before surgery. The only regret I have now 5 months post surgery is that I didn't do this sooner. But it is a very personal choice, and if you feel you aren't ready, so be it. But having family members make the choice for you may cause you more regret in the future. Good luck to you, whatever you decide.

Here's the deal. Most docs will tell you to expect to lose 60% of your EXCESS weight with the surgery. I truly believe that the surgery alone will help you do that. I also believe that if you wish to exceed that, you still have to change your lifestyle and always be diligent about what you're putting into your mouth and how much you move. I am 1 pound shy of 50 lbs in 5 months. That may not seem like a lot to some, but I'm proud of this weight loss because I know for the first time in my life, I am more likely NOT to gain it all back in a matter of months. I am still steadily losing the weight, and I hope to hit goal by summer, but to me it's not about how much I lose, but keeping off what I already have lost. To me, that's what this surgery is all about!

I don't eat "diet" food, either. Mostly lean meats and fish, nuts, fruits and veggies. I stay away from bread, rice and potatoes. I know a small amount of carbs won't kill you, but in my case I don't do well with them. If I start having carbs, my weight loss slows and I get hungry. That's the reason I stay away from them.

Two words. DIET.COKE.

Tube free me! Glad to be alive!

So sorry you had to go through all that, but happy you are on the mend! Take care of yourself, and you look great! -
The yo-yo effect?
Babbs replied to ngoycoanaya@gmail.com's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yup. I stall that way with the 'ol "up and down". It's REALLY fun when you gain 2 and lose 1. UGH. -
These are the kind of stories that people who don't believe in WLS need to hear. You've come a long way from that sad day. I'm so proud of you.

I remember waking up in pretty bad pain on the right side where my largest incision was. I'm thinking that's where they cut the stomach and removed it through that incision...YOWZA that hurt when I woke up! As soon as I had pain meds pumping through me, I was fine, albeit sore. Then I got a migraine for both days in the hospital. Go figure.

My doctor recommends 1 year, but I figured one Bloody Mary around the holidays 4 months after surgery wouldn't hurt. I probably won't drink again for another 4 months...

Why can't I start a thread in the "veteran's" forum?
Babbs replied to cmathews77's topic in The Gals' Room
I believe you have to have a certain number of posts, also.... -
Sip sip sip, walk walk walk! Congrats and hang in there!

I had a Bloody Mary (my first drink since my surgery) and didn't even get buzzed It tasted good, but I was very disappointed, lol. I don't think it's even worth drinking the empty calories now, so I won't be drinking again until I least hit goal

You REALLY don't want to see my belly....after 2 giant babies and now almost 48 years old...nobody wants to see that
-
Started the process in April, went through my 3 month doctor supervised diet and had surgery August 22. So about 4 months. I just lucked out because my doctor usually has a 6 week waiting period for surgery and he happened to have an almost immediate opening after I was approved.

Hello! Welcome and congratulations on your surgery! The first thing I would say is STAY OFF THE SCALE. If you are someone like me who freaks out about every little fluctuation ( and there will be) in your weight, try not to weigh everyday. I know it's fun at first to see the weight steadily coming off, but it does and will slow down and even stall at times. Try to measure your weight loss on how much better you feel or how your clothes are fitting. If you try to compare your weight loss to others, it will cause nothing but frustration. I know. I was considered a lightweight ( believe it or not) and "only" had 85 or 90 to lose, plus I am no spring chicken anymore, so I am considered a slow loser.(See my stats below my profile) Sometimes I would just want to cry seeing others who had surgery the same month losing so much more. But I learned to be happy with my progress and continue to stick with the program and let it happen at my body's own pace, not anyone else's That would be my advice to you. Keep us posted on your progress and keep on keepin' on!
