Would love to know ppl's losses in first 6 months?
Babbs replied to Hertsukfem31's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hard to say. There are so many variables on how any individual's weight loss goes..age, starting weight, gender etc...there are quite a few on this site who have lost that amount in 6 months for sure! I am almost 7 months post op and have lost almost 60. But I'm a little older and my BMI was just under 40 when I had surgery, so I think those factor in a little. -
What did your surgeon or NUT recommend? Mine said 1 year. I did have a Bloody Mary at around 4 months. No problems with it. Didn't even get a buzz.

Chili Cookoff pre, 3 mo post and 15 mo post
Babbs replied to Kindle's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
@@Kindle That's what I love about you. You work your sleeve as it's intended. You have managed to find that happy medium we all strive for and just eat like a normal person. Like a thin person. You don't over think anything. You just...live life! -
Is it normal for your weight loss to slow down in your third week post op after sleeve surgery?
Babbs replied to mggriffin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yup. May even stop for a little while. Just keep doing what you're doing and it will pass. Your body is just adjusting and taking a break -
4 weeks out. Depressed and questioning my choice.
Babbs replied to lclemur's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is a horrible thing to tell someone who is depressed. Just go feel better! Because it's that easy! You seemed to have missed the whole last part of my post where I suggested therapy? -

Babbs replied to lclemur's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well then I suggest you go right back to your surgeon and have them immediately re attach the portion of your stomach that was removed! See what I did there? What's done is done. How about making the best of it? Get yourself happy and healthy. Both physically and emotionally. You've been given a great opportunity to do just that! I suggest some therapy to deal with your issues with food. Please also pick up the book (on Kindle too) The Emotional First Aid Kit by Cynthia Alexander. One if the biggest fallacies out there is that WLS is "the easy" way out. There is nothing easy about it. The weight is not going to just fall off. Your weight loss will slow down and you will stall many times along the way. Your issues with food aren't going to magically just go away. If you put the work in, it will work for you. It will get easier as you keep adjusting to the new lifestyle. I promise! -
I remember feeling that way. Soon, it will all be a distant memory Hang in there!

Planning stages..please talk to me about your sleeve experience
Babbs replied to Goldy6575's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hmmmm. It may be pretty obvious at that early stage....just saying. By the way, your trip sounds FUN!! -
Planning stages..please talk to me about your sleeve experience
Babbs replied to Goldy6575's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It will take a few months of trying different foods out to see how you tolerate them. But really, once off "mushies", you really start to feel as normal as you can. Keep in mind the no drinking before, during or after meals after a certain amount of time. I think it's the most "unnormal" thing right now for me. Depends on age, how quickly you lose, and how much you have to lose. I was just a touch above your BMI when I had my surgery, I'm losing slower than some, and I'm 47. A little loose skin, especially on my tummy, but nothing I can't live with. At least right now. Most do, some don't. I have lost some hair, but it was so thick before it really is only noticeable to me. I think the protein thing is a myth. I have eaten TONS of protein since my surgery (still even drink a shake with 30 grams every morning to make sure) and I started losing hair at around 3 months. It's kind of a crap shoot. Depends on your surgeons plan. Some people are still on pureeds at that stage. In my opinion, it may be hard at that early stage to plan meals, making sure you're getting enough protein, Water etc... on vacation. It was hard for me the first couple months figuring it all out, and I work from home! I know it can be done, though Be prepared also to still be a little tired from surgery, as you're still recovering. -
For profit insurance is bullshit. The US needs to get on the ball and come up with a national plan like all the other industrialized countries. *End rant*

What’s Your Relationship with Exercise?
Babbs replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Love/hate. A necessary evil. I am starting to enjoy it....a little. It also depends on what kind of exercise. I find the treadmill soul sucking. -
I wouldn't know. I haven't had a diet soda since I was sleeved 6 months ago ( and I LOVED my diet Coke!) I know some drink it flat so the bubbles don't hurt. I wouldn't touch regular soda, flat or not. Too many empty calories and sugar.

A pound a day is amazing! There's going to be a time where you're going to lose a pound a week. Enjoy this.

Question for the slow losers
Babbs replied to AuriP's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
**UPDATE** As someone said above, a watched scale never moves. But until this completely horrible, rotten stall was over, I was watching. Well, as of this morning, I'm down 2lbs. Granted, I may not lose any more this month, but the scale MOVED My sister, who is on Weight Watchers and losing FASTER than me, recommended I cut out some of the strength training for a while and just concentrate on cardio. She also told me to try a little more fruit. Well, after 4 days of cardio and upping my fruit intake a little (along with my calories), it seemed to do the trick. Or my body just said "I give up!". Either way, I'll take it. I love this thread so much. Makes me not feel so alone in my slow loserness. I know my grown kids, my husband and my sisters get tired of hearing it. It's nice to commiserate with others who understand. Keep on keepin' on, slow losers! -
Question for the slow losers

Well there's my answer, lol. Then why aren't we on it?! -
Have you maintained all but the 30 pounds the last couple of years? You should be very proud of yourself if so! I'm only 6 months out and looking to lose the last 30, but at the rate I'm going it may take 2 more years Good luck to you!

I would also like to see a sub forum just for slow losers, just so we can all commiserate without annoying everyone else I know another site I'm on (not as much as this one) has one that's called "Slow Losers Unite!" Anyone else think that would be nice to have our own sub forum? What do you say, @@Alex Brecher? -
Question for the slow losers

@@JamieLogical I just have to say, I just love your posts. Your name says it all. Your posts are always so logical and straight to the point. I also appreciate you and all the other peeps going through the same "slow loser" struggle. Really makes me feel like I'm not alone in this fulfilling but sometimes very frustrating journey. What choice do any of us have but to keep on keepin' on? In my opinion, that just makes us slow losers even more special -
I need to vent...4 weeks out and very stalled
Babbs replied to LisaLou30's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's so frustrating, isn't it? I was expecting one the first few weeks because I had read so much about "The Dreaded 3 Week Stall". What I WASN'T expecting were several more after that, including a long ugly one I'm in the middle of right now. If you are following your program, drinking lots if water, and getting some exercise, it will pass. Doesn't make it any less infuriating though, does it?? -
Accepting yourself loose skin and all!

People don't die from loose skin. People die from obesity related health issues. Are you having the surgery to be a supermodel or to live a healthy, longer life? -
Question for the slow losers
Babbs replied to AuriP's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
*Raises hand* Slow loser here, too. AND my weight loss has pretty much slowed to a crawl and stopped. I'm trying everything under the sun to figure out how to get things going again. I lost 2.5lbs last month. At this rate, I may not hit my goal for a while. I'm thinking it may take me a year and a half after surgery to get to my goal weight, where as others needing to lose the same amount seems to take a year. I just need to be patient, but if I'm being honest, it's been frustrating as hell. -
You'll go into the OR, they will give you some meds and put the mask on you and tell you to breath deeply.....and the next thing you know you're waking up. It's almost like you lose that whole block of time. So yes, like a nap of sorts. Except you pretty much don't remember it
