    Average Post Op Diet?

@@SameOleMe You will get comfortable enough to not have to explain. I used to worry so much about what people thought about how little I was eating, but the honest truth is, they weren't paying attention at all. Same with the drink. I'll order Water just to have something in front of me, but won't touch it. I'll get a funny look once in a while, but I'm getting used to it

@@faav What were your post Op instructions? Didn't your surgeon or NUT give you any? Usually they are pretty specific about what you can and can't eat the first month or so. I suggest when you have a question like that this early out you consult your surgeon or NUT.

    Movie time

I'm almost 8 months out and I STILL haven't had popcorn! Too much of a slider for me. I get a Chai Tea and sip it during the movie. Just sweet enough to satisfy me

    Average Post Op Diet?

Once you are cleared to eat more normal food, you can easily go out to eat. The first month or so is tough ( I always ordered soup), but now I find the healthiest option (usually fish or chicken with veggies) and take most home for lunch the next day! The part I still have trouble with is the drinking with meals. Servers usually look at me funny when I tell them I don't want a drink or just order water and don't touch it.

    The Olivia Pope Diet

I really regret not picking this show up. I've heard such great things. Now I will have to binge watch to catch up and that takes so long! First world problems. Lol.
  8. I know you're sick right now, but you might want to consider changing up your exercise routine if you have one. More short high intensity workouts is what helped break my stall at 6 months finally. If you aren't really exercising, I would suggest starting and working up a sweat. That and upping calories and Protein should help
  9. I'll help you with the confusion.... Follow your own doctors orders and don't worry about what everyone else's did.
  10. Honestly? I was surprised how hard I still have to work to get the weight off. Yeah, at first it comes off pretty easily and steadily, but after a certain amount of time it really is all on you to use the tool you were given to its full advantage. The other thing that surprised me was realizing the complicated relationship I had with food, and the head games that can play on you sometimes. Regrets? During some hard times,(stalls, slow losing, head hunger) yeah, I can say I had a few. But I am a realist with a little pessimist sprinkled in, so that's my nature. But I can also honestly tell you this has made me a better person all the way around. Yes I've lost weight and can see the goal line on the horizon, but I'm also more disciplined about exercise, and I can honestly say food isn't such a huge deal to me anymore, and that's very freeing. I'm pushing 48, and feel like I did in my 30's. I look and feel amazing. All of that is thanks to the Sleeve. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat! Good luck with your upcoming surgery and keep us posted!
  11. I hit a nasty stall at around the 6th month. only lost 2 at the beginning of February, then NADA for weeks and weeks. Man oh man did I whine on here about it! But I got some great advice like everything above, and it finally broke Along with HIIT, I increased calories to around 1100, and incorporated a few more carbs in the form of low sugar fruit like berries. I lost 6lbs in March, and with a little over 20lbs to lose to hit goal, I was happy. Keep us posted on how you do!
  12. In my humble opinion, nothing will prevent your hair from falling out. It happens to most. I thought I dodged a bullet, but I started losing hair at around 5 months. I do everything by the book...vitamins, protein, you name it. Still lost some hair. Luckily, it was thick enough that I was the only one who noticed. Well, along with my hairdresser At almost 8 months out, I am noticing some re growth, ( I look like I stuck my finger in a socket with all the new hairs growing in) so it didn't last too long. Hopefully it will be the same for you

    Is this weird?!?

I didn't have a pre op diet. Just clear liquids the day before and nothing after midnight the day of.
  14. I had mine removed about 5 years ago as an emergency surgery. Doctor called it one of the "sickest" gall bladders he has seen. I also had some complications. I developed an abscess, and had to have a drain for 6 weeks. Then they discovered my bile duct was leaking, so they put a stent in until it healed. Aside from all that, once I healed I did have diarrhea off and on for about a year after. It really is a pretty low complication surgery, I just happen to be one of the lucky 1% to have complications.

To Those Who Have a Funny Bone

I have been married for almost 26 years, and when people ask me "What's your secret?" the first thing I tell them is LAUGH. Try to find humor in even the toughest situations (appropriately, of course). We have gone through pretty much everything a marriage can go through, except the death of a child (thank goodness), and humor has gotten us through some really tough times. Every time you're able to find humor in a difficult situation, you win. Oh, and:

I have the same beefs, but guess what? It's not going to change things. People will still continue to be...ahem....people. Good rant, though
  20. You look great ( what a beauty!) and have done a great job with the weight loss! Stalls are just part of the process. It's kind of like taking a nice uphill hike. You gotta stop and rest and take in the view once in a while. Your body is just stopping to rest and take in the view. Keep your fluids up, Protein high and move a little and it will pass. Miss Mac says it best. Stalls are like lovers. Your first probably won't be your last

    What is your work-out regimen?

Got with a trainer, and he worked up a circuit training program for me that incorporated a full body workout using weights and resistance. Worked well for about 6 weeks building muscle and losing weight, but then I hit a MAJOR stall, and decided to mix things up. Now I do cardio on the treadmill for 30-40 minutes (working up to running half of that...I'm pretty proud of my self, I've always HATED running) and then hit the weights after. That broke the stall, and I'm building some killer muscle tone. Still have some sagging, but I figure the only thing that will fix that stuff is surgery. I suppose it all depends on what level of fitness your are. I am by no means a fitness nut, but am happy to say I've come a long way and actually enjoy exercise now! Who would have thunk it???

    Meat 7 days out?

Is this the thread where someone wants to do something they know they shouldn't do but are hoping to get justification from others to do it? And when they don't get the justification, they bristle and accuse people of being judgmental? I thought so.

    Pre-op Binge eating

I'm not arguing your point. I had a few food funerals too, and I think I'm doing well 7 months post op. I am a stickler to my program. I, like you, don't think it has much to do with how successful you'll be post op. Just like you don't want to be judged on a public forum for what you do, you shouldn't judge the people who may have taken the opportunity to decide to start making life changes before their surgery. I don't think that makes them any better than anyone else, but it also doesn't make them "fitness junkies". They just got into the correct mindset sooner than the rest of us. Good luck with your upcoming surgery.
